Pride Month (June) is a month dedicated to the queer community and to honour the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.
Pride Month serves multiple purposes: it honours the LGBTQ+ community's rich history, celebrates its diversity, raises awareness about ongoing struggles for equality, and promotes acceptance and inclusion.
During Pride Month, cities worldwide host parades, festivals, workshops, and other events to celebrate LGBTQ+ culture and advocacy. These events provide opportunities for education, activism, and communitybuilding.
Pride Month encourages everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, to show support for the LGBTQ+ community. Allies play a crucial role in promoting inclusivity, understanding, and solidarity.

You may have heard that scientists discovered potential life on K2-18b, an exoplanet that orbits a small red star (or a red dwarf) in the constellation Leo, which is around three lightyears away A lightyear means the amount of time it takes light to travel that far. Scientists pointed the James Webb telescope to this planet, and they found a chemical sign of life (a biosignature). On Earth that is typically made by plankton in our oceans But there’s no need to panic! We are still not sure if there is life in space, but this is the closest we have ever been to finding aliens---even the research team is skeptical. Scientists are still doing testing now just to make sure, and it is difficult science to do! Since it is three light years away, it is not official, but aliens could be out there.

When you think of crows, the first thing that comes to your mind might be death or scavenging But did you know that crows are one of the smartest birds on the planet?
Crows have been known to use tools to solve puzzles and to understand embedding structures in other similar structures That skill has been thought to be a uniquely human skill Crows are extremely smart, and when some are bothered by people, they have been seen attacking that person, and the next time they see that person, they attack that same person.

What are The Blues?
“The Blues” is a genre of music characterized by “blues” notes, which are strummed, played, or sung according to the “blues scale”, making them seem lower compared to generallyanticipated notes in a song

Where did they originate from?
The blues were created in the early 20th century by African Americans in the South The blues came from an earlier call-and-response style that was used by slaves to busy themselves during the monotonous days working in the fields The songs were also used to signal different things; for example, “Mr Charlie” was to share that a white man was coming & “Going up to the beautiful land” meant you were leaving the South




How are they used in the music scene today?
Today, you can hear “the blues” in many different genres such as soul, hip hop, jazz and gospel music. These genres all have their roots in the blues. The blues has a strong legacy and is still played widely around the world

Magenta Does Not Exist!
Most colours, like red and blue, have distinct wavelengths. Magenta does not have one and is, instead, a combination of other wavelengths. Because of this, it tricks our eyes into mixing wavelengths, giving the feeling of seeing entirely different “colour” . Magenta is perceived as a mix of pink and purple. But it does not exist! Why, you may ask? Keep reading to find out!

Vantablack:
The Darkest Black in the World
Vantablack was created in 2014 by the company Surrey Nanosystems. Vantablack is not a colour but rather a coating. It was created with the purpose of using it on telescopes, satellites, and similar tech. This coat absorbs 99.96% of light, which is a unique trait that helps vantablack distinguish itself from other shades/coats of black. This effect is created by having millions of nanotubes in the paint and having these nanotubes absorb any light pointed at them, thus turning the light into heat.
The effects of vantablack have interested and fascinated many around the world, especially artists. This is why, when the rights to use this colour in any way considered artistic expression were sold to Anish Kapoor, many other artists were upset. Anish Kapoor said that he bought the colour because he has something in mind for it; he plans to create a piece that will disorient and reimagine space and time around the viewer. He said to BBC, “Imagine a space that’s so dark that as you walk in you lose all sense of where you are, what you are, and especially all sense of time...something happens to your emotional self and in disorientation, one has to reach in for other resources.” Currently, many are hoping that Surrey Nanosystems reevaluates their decision so that others can use their paint, and there seems to be hope for that as they seem to be reassessing their agreement with Mr. Kapoor at this moment.

WHAT IS NEURODIVERSITY?
Neurodiversity is a term to describe how people experience and interact with the world around them in different ways because of the way that their brain works. It is often used in the context of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD or learning disabilities
WHY IS NEURODIVERSITY SO COMMON IN THE QUEER COMMUNITY?
There’s no concrete answer why, but many people think that, as neurodivergent people tend to be less aware of or inclined to follow societal norms, they are less likely to suppress their true selves in favour of cisgender norms as well. While we often think of being straight and cisgender as the default, that is just how society expects most people to be and ignores the diversity of our biology.

The International Day Against Homophobia Biphobia and Transphobia is celebrated on 17 May. It is a global initiative which raises awareness about discrimination, violence, and challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community.
This year’s theme is “The power of communities.”
May 17th was chosen because the World Health Assembly of the World Health Organization approved the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems on May 17, 1990. This meant they no longer listed homosexuality as a disease.

Born in 1930 in Woodmere, New York, Milk's journey took him from serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War to becoming an icon in San Francisco's LGBTQ+ community
Settling in San Francisco, he became involved in local politics and activism, advocating for issues such as affordable housing, public transportation, and police reform He opened a camera shop on Castro Street in 1973; this shop became a community hub and gathering place for LGBTQ+ individuals.

In 1977, Milk made history by becoming one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States. While on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, Milk championed progressive causes and worked tirelessly to represent the interests of marginalized communities
Tragically, Milk's life was cut short when he was assassinated on November 27, 1978, alongside San Francisco Mayor George Moscone. However, his legacy endured, inspiring countless others to stand up for their rights and fight against discrimination
In 2009, Harvey Milk was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama, further cementing his place in history as a champion of civil rights. The following year, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed a bill designating May 22nd as Harvey Milk Day, making it the first state holiday in the United States to honour an openly gay individual.

BLUE SKY VS. BLACK SKY DEBATE

As we are graduating this year, we thought we would do one last debate on our favourite debate topic!
My theory is that a bright blue sky makes everyone happier and more upbeat, and the day gets better and better, and if everyone is happy, almost nothing can go wrong. They bring joy to people, and by default, when people are happy, they have good days. Moreover, in general, people are nicer when they have good days, and when people are nice, they make other people’s days better as well by sharing the kindness. This creates a chain reaction of happiness throughout people’s lives.
The black sky theory suggests that there are fewer distractions when the sky is black. This leads to more efficiency and productivity. The night is calming and quiet, and it's the perfect time to work. The darkness leads to creativity, relaxation, and productivity. I have personally experienced this difference in mood and productivity and can attest to its truth.
A blue sky is bright, busy, and aggressive and is not calming, leading to distraction and unproductivity.
Conclusion:
As we have matured, we’ve come to realize that the true conclusion is that both skies are necessary for happiness and productivity, and that both are amazing arguments in the end. Thank you all for following this series!

Keep your schedules!
Whether in your bedroom or locker, having your schedule ensures you're always in the correct uniform, bringing the right items, and you don’t have to ask other classmates. Getting to class is 100 times easier when you already know where you’re going.
Use your daily planner!
Taking full advantage of your planner by writing down homework, due dates, events and reminders will make you more likely to do them, remember them, and stay on top of your tasks effectively.
Know your materials!
Have a list in your locker if you’re forgetful, or just think about it each time you’re at your locker. And by just cleaning out your locker and having a place for your books, you’ll automatically have an easier time finding those items and getting to class with all your materials.

Roman Numerals: MATH MATTERS
They are a system of numerical notation using letters
In Canada, we use Arabic Numerals, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
But the Roman Numerals are letters, I, V, X, L, C, D, and M
Depending on how they’re written, and in what order, they represent different numbers
When numerals are repeated, the number represented by them is their sum
Only I, X, and C can be used as subtractive numerals
The letters V, L, and D are not repeated
No Roman numerals can come together more than 3 times
When a Roman numeral is placed before another Roman numeral of greater value, the result is the difference between the numerals

When a Roman numeral of a smaller value is placed between two numerals of greater value, it is subtracted from the numeral on its right

How to Get a Queen Ant
You have to wait for a nuptial flight to capture a mated queen ant. A nuptial flight is when queen and king ants fly and mate. Sadly, the males die off because they are not needed anymore. You have to capture a queen ant that has mated.
How to Identify a Queen Ant
A queen ant has a larger thorax and abdomen, which means that it has a larger middle and back part. Capture one that has wings broken off. They break their wings off since they do not need their wings anymore.
What to Do if You Catch a Mated Queen Ant
First, you need to make a test tube setup to simulate the founding chamber the queen ant would have made in the wild. You will need a test tube, water and two cotton balls. Fill the test tube halfway with water, then put a cotton ball gently, move your queen ant into the side with cotton, then seal the chamber with another cotton ball. Now you have a queen ant in a test tube set up. Give yourself a pat on the back!

The characters in TrollHunters are numerous and have engaging personalities. The characters make you fall in love and bring the whole show together. The main character is Jim Lake JR and he finds this mysterious amulet one day while taking a short cut to school with his friend, Toby. Then they meet the trolls, Blinky and Aaarrgh. Together, they mentor Jim and Toby as they go through perilous adventures.
The entire show has extensive world-building that pulls you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat. As the story progresses, you get more and more caught up in the lore. The characters and funny, it includes an incredibly diverse plot that makes it distinct from other shows, and crossovers that make you want to watch more.
TrollHunters is part of a franchise called Tales of Arcadia, made by Guillermo del Toro DreamWorks and Netflix partnered together after getting the rights to bring this masterpiece to life The series first aired in October 2016

TrollHunters Season 2 Review
Continuing on in season 2, our main characters get more diverse and more depth is added. We learn extra details about Aaarrgh and Blinky, and the plot thickens. Gunmar has taken Jim, and there’s a race through the worlds to save him. On the other end, Toby and Claire have to face off against the Tribunal and keep Jim alive, yet they are struggling to find evidence of life and reason. It also doesn’t help that the new chief from a far-off land called Usurna.

I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who is a big fan of fantasy, is ok with romance, and likes awesome action scenes It has great writing, and the plot is easy to follow but also very in-depth. Stray Kids are a K-pop group made up of eight members: I.N, Seungmin Felix, Han, Changbin, Lee Kn Bang Chan. The group Stray Ki created through the surviva Stray Kids, and they debuted on 25 March 2018. After their stunning debut, they gained some popularity, and then in the years 2021-2022, their popularity skyrocketed along with the number of albums the group released yearly. Currently, Stray Kids are on their fourth tour, DominATE. They are also set to release a new album in June and just released Mixtape: DominATE in March. Their tour will be coming to Canada in June!

Process
Preheat the oven to 325F/163C convection and grease and line an 8×8” pan with baking spray and parchment paper (leaving an overhang to easily remove them). Place the butter and chocolate in a medium, heat-proof bowl and microwave for 1 minute, remove and stir until the chocolate and butter are melted and combined. In a large bowl, place the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla and eggs. Whisk them together aggressively for 2-3 minutes, until the mixture is completely smooth.
Add in the melted chocolate and butter and whisk until the mixture is fully combined.
Add in the flour and salt and whisk just until there are only a few streaks of flour left.
Spread into the prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes. The top should be thin and crackly and puffed in the centre.
Tap it against the counter a couple of times, it should deflate a little but not be jiggly at all. When you press on it, it should feel soft underneath but not liquid-y.
Allow to cool in the pan for 30-60 minutes. Top with a pinch of sea salt flakes and serve warm or cooled.

Directions
1 Position a rack in the middle of the oven Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C)
2 Grease two 9-inch round cake pans, line the bottom with parchment paper, and then grease the top Or grease and flour the bottom and sides of both pans
3 Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl until very well blended
4 In a separate bowl, whisk the oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla
5 Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking after each one
6 Switch to a large rubber spatula Scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl, then add the dry ingredients in three parts, gently stirring until they disappear and the batter is smooth
7 Stir in the carrots, nuts, and raisins
8 Divide the cake batter between the prepared cake pans Bake until the tops of the cake layers are springy when touched and when a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean, 35 to 45 minutes
9 Cool the cakes in the pans for 15 minutes, then carefully turn the cake layers out onto cooling racks Remove the parchment paper and cool completely If you find that a cake layer is sticking to the bottom of the pan, leave the cake pan upside down and allow gravity to do its thing

1 In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese with a handheld mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 1 minute
2 Beat in the powdered sugar and cornstarch I like sifting the powdered sugar and cornstarch over the cream cheese to remove lumps If you do not have a fine mesh sieve, beat in the cornstarch and powdered sugar a 1/4 cup at a time until combined
3 Pour in the heavy cream Beat on medium speed for 2 to 3 minutes or until the frosting is whipped and creamy This frosting resembles the texture of whipped cream Chill covered until ready to frost the cake
4 When the cake layers are completely cool, frost the top of one cake layer and place the second cake layer on top
5 Add the remaining frosting to the top of the carrot cake and use a butter knife or small spatula to swirl the frosting around Leave the sides of the cake unfrosted Finish with a handful of nuts on top
