On request the timber in our wooden products can be sold as sourced from managed forests or a sustainable timber scheme. WELCOME Hillbrush has been making brushes and cleaning equipment for 100 years, and today operates from a state-of-the-art facility in Wiltshire, UK. We manufacture brooms, brushes, squeegees, scrapers, scoops and other cleaning products for the agricultural, equestrian, domestic, industrial, janitorial, medical and food manufacturing industries.

Hillbrush offers over 2000 different standard products and distributes to more than 90 countries worldwide. Hillbrush Inc has operated out of Baltimore MD, US since 2001 and distributes our highly advanced food contact approved brushes and cleaning equipment to US and Canadian markets.

Hillbrush is recognised throughout the world for its brush making and manufacturing expertise. Our wealth of industry knowledge and experience means we deliver the highest quality products, underpinned by excellent customer service. Our roots lie in crafting traditional wooden brushes, and we are extremely proud to hold a Royal Warrant for the supply of brushware to HM The Queen. Today, Hillbrush still produces a wide range of brooms and ancillary items as part of the Hillbrush Traditional Range. We have applied that same time-served brush making expertise to the manufacture of specialist hygiene brushes and equipment for use in the food and beverage industries, where our antimicrobial, metal detectable and resin set ranges set us apart from anything else on the market.

As well as producing our own products, Hillbrush’s manufacturing capabilities also mean we can produce bespoke items to meet customers’ specific requirements. These can include brushes of a customer’s own design, injection moulding solutions for any industry, corporate branding or workplace cleaning organisation through the use of colourcoded shadow boards. Hillbrush continues to strive for excellence, and we are excited to showcase some innovative new product development solutions in this catalogue. As a business, we understand the need to be socially and environmentally responsible and have made huge inroads into developing and implementing sustainable practices, as well as committing to targets that meet and go beyond government guidance for a sustainable future.

CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS Fred and Bill Coward established the business in 1922, and Hillbrush is still a family owned and run business today. Charlie and Andy Coward, the fourth generation, took over as joint managing directors from Philip (Charlie's father) in 2018. Peter, Bill's grandson, runs the Baltimore operation in the USA. This is a special time for Hillbrush as we celebrate our centenary. 2022 marks a huge milestone and one that we hope to celebrate with our many customers, partners and suppliers, who have all contributed to Hillbrush’s success and longevity. Hillbrush is also extremely proud to have had a loyal workforce throughout its 100 years and this success could not have been achieved without their hard work and dedication. RESIN SET PRODUCTS The Hillbrush resin set range is the world's most effective, versatile and reliable method of filament retention in brushes. Food grade stainless steel staples secure the filaments in a recessed brush back, which is then flooded with an antimicrobial, food grade epoxy resin. The brush then undergoes an extensive process to ensure the resin fills every void, eliminating areas where dirt and moisture could otherwise accumulate.

METAL AND X-RAY DETECTABLE PRODUCTS Hillbrush's metal detectable and x-ray visible (MDX) plastic cleaning tools are designed to minimise the risk of foreign object contamination in food processing environments. All components in our MDX products are FDA and EU approved for food contact. The moulded products with coloured plastic backs and grey fibres make up the colour coded MDX range, where only the fibres are metal detectable and x-ray visible. The Total MDX brushes are resin set as standard and the backs, resin and fibre contain the detectable additive.

ANTIMICROBIAL PRODUCTS

Biomaster guarantees fast, effective antimicrobial protection for the effective lifetime of the product, helps to keep surfaces clean and hygienic and reduces the risk of cross-contamination. To ensure that the antimicrobial range can fully support Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), tools have been manufactured in blue, black, green, purple, red and yellow.

COLOUR CODING The use of colour coded cleaning tools within the food industry can greatly assist in reducing the risk of cross-contamination. A methodical, colour coded approach associates each product with a particular area, promoting inter-departmental and/or allergen segregation. Hillbrush Hygiene is colour coded with up to twelve vibrant, easily identifiable colours to choose from. A very effective way of storing and organising workplace cleaning equipment is with the use of shadow boards (see p.105).

A simple process to create a safer, cleaner and well-organised workplace, through order and standardisation. These principles work alongside HACCP guidelines to improve efficiency and profitability. 1. Sort – establish which tools are needed in which area 2. Set in place – organise into designated colour-coded zones 3. Shine – carry out regular cleaning and maintenance 4. Standardise – set out cleaning and maintenance procedures 5. Sustain – ensure standards are followed

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, or HACCP as it is commonly known, is a preventative approach to food safety from biological, chemical, and physical hazards in food production. PRODUCT MAINTENANCE PRODUCT CARE CLEANING YOUR TOOLS • Remove visible dirt and foreign objects with a stiff brush. • Use a cleaning solution with a pH 5 or less. • Rinse thoroughly with clean water. • If lime residue has formed on a tool it can be removed by washing in a cleaning solution with a pH 5 or less. • Clean after washing with an approved disinfectant. • Remove disinfectant residue by rinsing with clean water or using an industrial dishwasher (82°C/175°F). • Hillbrush Hygiene products can be sterilised by autoclaving at temperatures up to 134°C/275°F. • Ensure tools have sufficiently cooled before using again.

• Use a wall hanging system to hygienically air-dry them.

STORING YOUR TOOLS • Store cleaning equipment away from working surfaces. • Install shadow boards in partitioned work areas. • Use a colour-coded hanging system to organise tools and avoid cross-contamination.

REPLACE YOUR TOOLS WHEN: • Filaments are entangled, creating bacterial growth hotspots. • Filaments are worn excessively or discoloured. • Plastic moulds are scratched badly or marked.
