BAIL BOND REFORM: PASS SENATE BILL 10
Hilbert Morales EL OBSERVADOR EO recommends that registered voters encourage their CA State Assembly elected representatives, both State Senators and Assembly members to vote YES to enact Senate Bill 10 Bail Bond Reform; Pretrial Release. As Section I documents, during 2016, 66% of County jail inmates were being detained simply because these individuals could not pay for a bail bond. Low income individuals who did not have the wealth to purchase a bail bond are incarcerated to ensure their appearance whenever their case is considered by a court. The social costs of this practice are enormous; they have never been estimated. For decades this practice has existed with the result that jail overcrowding happens. In Santa Clara County, Sheriff Laurie Smith has already presented the Board of Supervisors with a proposal to modernize and expand this county's jails. Some 30% of jailed inmates have mental health issues and really would be better served if a mental health/psychiatric facility was made available. It was through a report about the Realignment Project which transfers CA State Prison inmates back to the county jails that EO learned the following: The Department of Corrections,
County of Santa Clara operates the county's jails whose capacity is 3,800 inmates (includes both men and women). This cohort is composed of 50% Hispanics; 12% African-Americans and 3% Asian-Americans. Clearly, of the 1,900 incarcerated Hispanics, half (950 individuals) are awaiting their court hearing simply because of their lack of enough money to purchase and post a bail bond. Senate Bill 10 would change things. This practice has large social costs which have not been brought to the community's attention. When the family's wage-earner is jailed for his/her inability to post a bail bond, it is the family that endures the following: a) Loss of wage income and perhaps the job; b) sudden burdening of the wife (mother or significant other) of all responsibility for the financial affairs of their family unit; c) loss of parental guidance and training at home of their children; d) a need for increased health services (SCVMC), including mental health counseling; e) required support by the county's social safety net services provided by the Social Services Agency welfare programs. And I am certain there are several more unrecognized outcomes, such as a child's diminished school performance when a parent is jailed. Supervisor Cindy Chavez has been the champion of this County of Santa Clara's most recent effort to do something about this bail bond pre-trial release program. As I recall, a non-profit founda-
tion was formed which provides and posts the necessary bail bond for those who are impoverished enough to be unable to post a bail bond without assistance. An opportunity exists today to enact appropriate legislation (Senate Bill 10 Pre-Trial Release). It may be that the CA Correctional Officer's Union may be opposed because the enactment of Senate Bill 10 may result in reduction of jail inmate populations currently requiring 24-7 protective custody services. EO recommends that all registered voters prepare a contact information tabulation sheet which contains all contact information (email addresses, phone numbers, office hours and addresses) which enable sending your jurisdiction's elected officials your thoughts and recommendations. Your personalized elected official listing could list: local County Supervisors, CA State Senator and your Assembly member, Federal Senators (Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris), and your jurisdiction’s House of Representative elected member. By already having this listing on your iPad or smart phone, you could easily inform your elected officials your opinion about pending legislation. In this case of CA Senate Bill 10 Bail Bond Reform; Pre-Trial Release. EO highly recommends telling your CA State Assembly elected officials to vote YES to enact Senate Bill 10. You may review this legislation by googling “Senate Bill 10,
California”, as I did. I learned that this legislation is presented using 16,000 words. Much of the wording is legalese which is needed to deal with specific items which are being changed or impacted. These items include the judicial codes; criminal codes and documenting that this legislation was properly considered and enacted. I recommend that you personally google Senate Bill 10 to review the 'LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST' and read the captions of its 41 sections. For example, begin with Section 1. “The Legislature finds and declares all of the following: (a) Modernization of the pretrial system is urgently needed in California, where thousands of individuals held in county jails across the state have not been convicted of a crime and are detained while awaiting trial simply because they cannot afford to post money bail or pay a commercial bail bond company. In 2015, 63 percent of people in California jails were either awaiting trial or sentencing. In 2016, the percentage of people in California jails awaiting trial or sentencing rose to 66 percent. As compared with the rest of the country, California has relied on pretrial detention at much higher rates than other states.” EO projects that the enactment of “Senate Bill 10, Bail Bonn; Retrial Release” will mitigate much wrongful oppressions which low income families endure. This Senate Bill 10 needs your active encouragement communicated to
your CA State Assembly elected officials so as to counter-act the lobbying influence of the bail bond industry and all those who profit from the enforcement of current laws which need urgent change. Understand that the Hispanic community already is 40% of CA's total population. The Latino community needs to 'get out its voting clout' this coming Tuesday, November 6, 2018 when the Mid- Term election happens. Plan to vote in your community's best interest on that day. It is only right and proper to have individuals to be released on their 'own recognizance' especially when their community's safety and security is not endangered, and none have committed violent crimes; nor are drug addicts; nor are sexual predators. Tell all your elected officials at the CA State Assembly (Sacramento, CA) that you want “BAIL BOND REFORM: PRETRIAL RELEASE...PASS SENATE BILL 10. *Addendum: Consider giving El Observador Foundation, Inc. (IRS Section 501(c)(3) non-profit) a $20 donation once every year.
When business owners investigate the future and see big changes coming that will impact their revenue stream, they adapt new strategies, or their businesses die. Higher education in the United States now faces that same challenge as enrollments of the traditional 18 to 23-year-old students continue to decline. “Higher education is headed for a major sea change and the only colleges and universities that will survive will be those that adapt aggressive strategies to address those changes now,” says Andrew Simon, a partner in Simon Associate Management Consultants (www. simonassociates.net). “The higher education model of the last 50 years is about to become obsolete.” Simon, who has performed strategic work for higher learning institutions, says one of the major reasons for the coming realignment is the disconnect between schools and workplaces. “Colleges seem to have a built-in bias against the needs of industry,” says Simon. ‘The college administrations and faculty of many institutions of higher learning appear to have a reluctance to understand what their students will need to succeed after they leave the university. Employers say that sending students out with the technical skills is not enough. Students entering the workforce need people skills. They need to communicate, coordinate, collaborate and creatively solve problems, says Simon. The demographics among traditional college age students suggest that the demand for higher education has peaked. The next
generation will have fewer college students, Simon says, and those that do go to college will encounter escalating expenses. Consequently, they are going to pay more attention to their return on investment. “Work or career readiness” will be key. Simon notes that these are the changes that the colleges of the future are going to have to face: • Adult learners will be the new key to survival. The need for lifelong learning will continue to increase while there will be a drop in the number of traditional students who enter college right after high school. Adult learners will need new (people) skills and new organizational models. • Women are outnumbering men. This trend will continue into the future. • There will be more Latinos and African Americans attending college. • Sacred norms will be challenged. Traditional colleges are going to have to re-examine their business model, their tenured faculty, their dependence on adjuncts, and the role of classrooms as the prefered method of delivery. Other long held traditional beliefs will also be challenged. • Future students will examine more closely return on investment (ROI). As the costs of higher education continuing to rise, the ROI may not justify the expense unless something dramatic begins to transform that college experience, so it becomes more relevant for the needs of the workplace. “In order to survive,” Simon says, “institutions of higher learning are going to have to become more integrated with employers because students will be more motivated to get an education that helps them be thoroughly prepared for their career.”
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. – The Santa Clara County Library District (SCCLD) is introducing four new mini bookmobiles to expand outreach into each of its communities. Named “Go Go Biblios,” three of these electric vehicles will be based at the Cupertino, Los Altos and Saratoga libraries, thanks to the generous funding provided by the Friends of the Cupertino Library, Los Altos Library Endowment and Friends of the Saratoga Libraries. The fourth vehicle will be shared between Campbell, Gilroy, Milpitas and Morgan Hill libraries. The Go Go Biblios have a mission to share the love of reading and learning with the public through their cargo of books and other media.
“Our Go Go Biblios will allow more opportunities to interact with the community,” stated Nancy Howe, County Librarian. “We want to bring the library directly to the public to introduce the many books, movies, music, programs, and online resources we have to offer all ages.” The vehicles can hold up to 200 books/ media and are fully electric. The panels lift up on both sides, revealing the materials available for check out. With a maximum speed of 25 mph and a limited service range, the Cupertino, Los Altos and Saratoga Go Go Biblios will be deployed within their local communities, while the fourth vehicle will visit the many other communities throughout the Library District.

BBB IS HELPING KEEP COLLEGE STUDENTS SAFE FROM IDENTITY THEFT
headed by individuals aged 18-24 may be even more likely than average to experience identity theft. College students may feel as though they have nothing to lose since they’re just starting out in life, but the sooner they learn how to protect their identities, the better. BBB offers the following tips to students to help ensure the only thing they’ll have to worry about this year is their midterms: • Securely store personal documents. Keep only what you need in your wallet or purse and keep everything else in a safe, including your laptop and any other devices that contain sensitive information. This includes credit cards, your driver’s license, and anything that includes your Social Security Number (SSN) or other sensitive information. Make sure to shred documents that contain personal information before throwing them away.

Going off to college is one of the biggest steps in a person’s life. It not only symbolizes higher learning, but it also represents independence and freedom that comes with being a young adult. Moreover, college students soon realize that there are important responsibilities that come with being on
their own, such as keeping their personal identity safe. In 2017, The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) received over 350,000 identity theft complaints nationwide and over 55,000 in California alone. For people aged 20-29 nationwide, there were over 70,000 identity theft reports and overall, younger people reported losing money to fraud more often than older people by 40%. Consumer Reports, a BBB Accredited Charity, also notes that households

Turn on multi-factor authentication if possible. Write passwords down on a piece of paper and store it in your safe, don’t keep them on any device. You can also use a password manager, just make sure to check out the business on bbb.org first. Make sure all your devices are protected by a password. Be careful using public Wi-Fi, you may be exposing yourself to scammers.

It’s also important to not over-share on social media. Consumer Reports notes that “fraudsters can mine social media posts for information that could help them get past account security questions on various sites.” • Don’t give away your SSN unless it’s absolutely necessary. Your SSN, financial information, and other personal information should only be given out on a need-to-know basis. If you’re prompted to share your SSN, first ask if there’s another way to identity yourself. If you don’t have a choice and can’t avoid using the service (e.g., to see your class or grade information), make sure that you trust the institution or person who needs it. LOS CDC URGEN A LAS FAMILIAS A QUE INICIEN LA CONVERSACIÓN SOBRE LA SEPTICEMIA
AUGUST 17 - 23, 2018
BEWARE OF CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING DURING SUMMER ACTIVITIES Stephanie Carson Public News Service NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Carbon monoxide often is thought of as a winter threat with the use of heaters, but summer recreation activities also can generate the gas that could prove deadly if you're exposed to it in confined spaces. Every year, the state receives reports of carbon monoxide poisoning from people using campers, boats and other recreational equipment with engines. "These are places where people tend to be sort of in a small space and they're often using gas stoves, or running machines, or even their car," explains Dr. Tim Jones, state epidemiologist at the Tennessee Department of Health.

Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include a headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting. If you suspect you or someone else is
experiencing it, open all windows and doors and go to an area with fresh air. If someone is sick, call 911 and the American Association of Poison Control Centers at (800) 222-1222. To prevent poisoning from happening, inspect your RV generator regularly, test your vehicles carbon monoxide detector, and never use a gas generator inside of a home. Jones says sometimes the sickness may take you by surprise. "We've had some very severe cases where people have been swimming underneath pontoon boats, sort of in between the pontoons, where air is kind of still and exhaust has accumulated under there," he relates. Nationwide, 20,000 to 30,000 people are sickened by accidental carbon monoxide poisoning and approximately 500 people die, many in their own homes.

Initiative to Revise Commercial Property Taxes Moves Forward Suzanne Potter California News Service SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Backers of commercial property tax reform have just submitted 860,000 signatures to county registrars for an initiative on the November 2020 ballot. The "Schools and Communities First" ballot measure would require commercial property owners who benefit from Prop 13's property tax freeze in 1978 to start paying taxes based on the property's current fair market value, rather than what it was worth 40 years ago. Joshua Pechthalt, president of California Federation of Teachers, said the measure would raise another $11 billion a year a good chunk of which could be used to improve schools.

Linda Barr California News Service SACRAMENTO, Calif.
La iniciativa (en ingles): oag.ca.gov/ s y s t e m / f i l e s / i n i t i a t i v e s /p d f s / 170055%20(Funding%20for%20 Schools%20and%20Communities)_2. pdf
AUGUST 17 - 23, 2018
"California is the fifth-largest economy in the world, and yet we're ranked something like 45th in terms of per-pupil spending and class-size average," Pechthalt said. "And our kids deserve to be treated better than that."
SUNDAY- 9:30AM
A coalition of almost 300 community groups supports the proposal, which would not affect Prop 13 protections for homeowners, renters, small businesses or agriculture. Anti-tax groups say it would make California significantly less business-friendly and cause job losses. Pechthalt pointed out that most other states assess commercial and industrial property in this way, and he thinks the proposal would bring fairness back to California's tax system. "Prior to Prop 13, homeowners and commercial interests split property taxes about 50/50," he observed. "And now, that burden falls mostly on homeowners - we shoulder 70 percent, maybe more, of property taxes." Corporations that have owned large tracts of land since the 1970s - like Chevron, Bank of America, Disneyland and Universal Studios - would be most affected by the change. To qualify for the ballot, the group needs just over 548,000 signatures to be verified, out of the 860,000 submitted.

GROUPS QUESTION POSSIBLE POLLUTION AT PLANNED MIGRANT DETENTION CENTERS Suzanne Potter California News Service
Area. Exposure to toxic chemicals from sites such as these can cause cancer, neurological damage and developmental harm, but the government says the sites are safe.
CONCORD, Calif. - A coalition of health, labor and environmental groups is asking the Trump administration to release specific locations for immigrant detention centers to be built on military bases - sites that may be polluted.
Evans says the planned migrant housing is flimsy and insufficient to protect people from environmental hazards.
President Donald Trump's zerotolerance policy at the border has resulted in the detention of tens of thousands of men, women and children. Attorney Lisa Evans with Earthjustice, the law firm representing the groups, has filed an expedited Freedom of Information Act request to find out exactly where the migrants will be housed, because, she says, these military bases have a long history of toxic pollution.

These are soft-sided temporary shelters set on the ground that can be constructed very quickly to house these children and families." MEXICO TO UNITE MAYA AREA BY TRAIN TO BOOST TOURISM

Besides the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza (Yucatan), Calakmul (Campeche) and Tulum (Quintana Roo), the train will stop at such tourist destinations as Campeche, Merida, Izamal and Valladolid, which for decades has ser ved as a point of entr y to the Mayan world. "T his projec t will attrac t a lot of tourism, and of course it will create jobs in the southeast, which is the most neglec ted par t of the countr y," said Lopez Obrador, who will be sworn-in as president next Dec. 1 for a six-year term. In all the marginalized areas along the Maya Train's route, its
construc tion "could trigger an economic boom because many towns will reap the benefits," Reynaldo Dzib, manager of the Canc un Travel Group, told EFE. He recalled that the Canc unChiapas connec tion can c urrently be traveled by bus or airplane, "but if they are connec ted by train, like the shor t routes in Europe, the results will be phenomenal." According to figures of the Quintana Roo Tourism Secre tariat, during 2017 the state welcomed 16. 9 million tourists who left an economic bounty of some $8.81 billion.

Jose Antonio Torres EFE Mexico City - A railroad that runs 1,500 kilome ters (930 miles) around the most important archaeological centers of Mexico's Mayan c ulture and that will cost at the ver y least $6.259 billion (120 billion pesos) is a projec t of the incoming government that could crown years of attempts to get the most out of these magnificent tourist attractions. This project of Mexico's Presidentelec t Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador proposes that within a period of four years a "modern" train will connect the principal points of the Mayan region, which includes the Mexican states of
Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo. "Nowhere else in the world is there a region with so many and such magnificent c ultural treasures as this region, which witnessed the flowering of the great Mayan c ulture," Lopez Obrador said this Monday as he outlined the projec t and noted the impor tance of the Maya Train, already considered a priority program of his government. To star t with there will be the Mayan city of Palenque in Chiapas state and the Caribbean seaside resort of Canc un in Quintana Roo, with two routes that cover 1,500 kilome ters around the east and west coasts of the Yucatan Peninsula.

RUBY ROSE: CAPTURING “THE MEG”
Australian actress Ruby Rose talks real sharks, fake sharks, and being cast as Batwoman and we’re all back to being terrified and screaming and swallowing salt water. And I’m loving it because I love the ocean. But I’m laughing because Page Kennedy can’t swim, and he’s terrified that something’s gonna touch his leg. Rainn Wilson doesn't like the ocean, he’s scared of kelp, so it was fun, it was a very big bonding moment for all of us. Was there a physical model of the Megalodon shark that you were working alongside with or was it all CGI?

The most recent blockbuster movie to hit theaters in this late Summer time is about a prehistoric, 60-foot shark that swam through the seas millions of years ago. The Megalodon was the unparalleled king of the sea, with teeth measuring 5 inches and a bite that could easily crush the bones of large ocean mammals. In the film “The Meg”, a group of scientific researchers in a large, partially submerged oceanic facility owned by a billionaire (Rainn Wilson) are tasked with attempting to cross through what they believe is a “false” bottom of the ocean. Currently the deepest point in the world’s oceans is the Mariana Trench, which is around 36,000 feet in depth. In “The Meg”, the researchers take their high tech “gliders” past this depth and find a number of new species. One of them happens to be the not-so-new Megalodon, which is the point where things get blockbuster-y. On the research team is Jaxx, played by Ruby Rose. Her claim to fame is designing and overlooking all the tech involved in the research facility. Originally from Australia and no stranger to the ocean, Rose recently spoke to us about her experience on working on “The Meg”, as well as the recent casting news of her taking on the role of Batwoman for a CW Network DC Comics event later
this year. Hey Ruby, thank you for taking time to talk about “The Meg”. First off, how was it like being in this “monster movie”? It was amazing, it was fun, we got to do amazing stunts, I had the best cast to work with an amazingly diverse cast with huge wealth of knowledge in acting and we got to shoot in New Zealand which is one of the most beautiful places in the world, do a lot of shooting and stunts in the ocean, and I love the ocean. For me, it was like a dream come true. You’re from Australia, and there’s all sorts of critters there that are native to the country that aren’t seen anywhere else. Have you had experience with sharks or any animals native to there? Yeah, I grew up surfing and spending a lot of time in the ocean, I definitely encountered sharks a lot when I was doing that, and I was never very fearful of them, I always admired them and thought they were stunning creatures, so for me I’ve never had the fear that a lot of people have. But you know, I just admire them. Are you a fan of monster movies? Yeah, well “Jaws” is one of my favorite films, and “Jurassic Park”. I love films in general, I mean that’s why I got into acting, anything that takes me out of reality for that 90 minutes or two hours where you get to
just enjoy a different universe or a different existence or a different period of time, and learn something and feel something, or laugh or cry or be scared. I think it’s a really magical medium. Could you tell me about your character in the film “The Meg”? I play a character called Jaxx. She’s the lead engineer and she basically builds all the gliders and submersibles and all the technology and equipment to do the research on the animals that we find and the different species that we encounter, and she is also the kind of person that doesn’t necessarily trust you off the bat, but once she gets to know you she’s very “ride or die”. And I’ve kind of enjoyed playing that up when it came to Rainn Wilson’s character, not really vibing him and not really knowing what to think of him because he plays a billionaire who’s interested in monetizing the ocean, while we play the kind of characters that want to save the ocean. What was your favorite thing about your character of Jaxx in the film? Is there a particular moment that you enjoyed being part of ? There were lots of standout moments, but I guess I enjoyed when we are all in the ocean and we’re all swimming and trying to escape the Meg, and it was sort of in between takes where we were laughing [and] making fun of each other, and then it’s like ‘action’
Well it’s funny we did more than half of it with a green screen, but we knew what the Meg looked like because in the research lab that was our set we had lots of pictures up of the Meg and diagrams and that, so we always knew what the size was comparable to a great white and anything else. So, when we were working on green screen it was a lot about what the director would tell us was happening, so we could react. We also had an animatronic Meg which was about half the size and half the body, so it was the head, the teeth, mouth [and] eyes up until about halfway to the body. So that allowed us to know what we would roughly be looking at. But the irony was that when we were using the green screen they’d often use a tennis ball for us to look at and you can’t think of anything smaller than a tennis ball to represent a megalodon. So, during the premiere this past week of “The Meg” it was announced that you had been cast as Batwoman for a CW crossover event involving the show “Arrow”. That must have felt great. Can you tell me a bit about how it feels to step into those boots? Yeah! It’s so exciting and overwhelming and amazing. Honestly it hasn’t really sunk in yet because you know, I’m on “The Meg” promo tour and premiere, so as soon as I’m done in the middle of the week I’ll finally sit down and actually think about this news and absorb it all and then get straight to work. Well, for the last question, I just wanted to know why folks should check out your film “The Meg”? It’s an amazing summer blockbuster, it’s the perfect film to go and grab some popcorn, take your friends, family. Know that you’re gonna have a great time and you’re gonna laugh. Bizarrely, it’s a feel-good shark movie. But, you’re gonna be scared and terrified, there’s romantic moments, there’s sweet moments, and gentle moments. Jon [Turteltaub], the Director is so good at tonally making things fun enough and scary enough, but never taking himself too seriously and never going too far and making it into a parody. “The Meg” is out in theaters now.

Shelly Palmer I’ve had my Samsung Galaxy Note 9 for a few days and I can say without hesitation that this is an awesome device. It’s aesthetically beautiful, it’s fast, it’s powerful, and it’s packed with small improvements that combine to make the Note 9 a best-inclass Android handheld. General Impressions I really like the Note 9. It is a case study in continuous improvement – which is clearly Samsung’s innovation strategy. There isn’t one “blow your mind” new feature, but each aspect of the Note 9 has been improved. When taken together, this combination of improvements makes the Note 9 a serious standout in a crowded room of Android phones. As expected, the Note 9 looks a lot like the Note 8 (except, thankfully, for the placement of the fingerprint sensor). Samsung has kept all of your favorite features: wireless fast charging, external storage via microSD cards, water resistance, and a 3.5mm analog headphone jack. The Note 9 has a very big 6.4″ screen. The Note 8 had a slightly smaller 6.3″ screen. Interestingly, the Note 9 is a little shorter than the Note 8 because Samsung was able to reduce the size of the top and bottom bezels on the Note 9. The S Pen If you love Note devices, you probably love the S Pen. The Note 9 has a redesigned S Pen that is active (charges in the phone) and has a bunch of new features (detailed below).
TECHNOLOGY
EL OBSERVADOR | www.el-observador.com
DeX For Samsung aficionados, the Note 9 has DeX software built in. DeX turns your Note 9 into a fairly functional desktop computer. Plug in a common USB-C to HDMI video adapter, add a Bluetooth keyboard, and the Note 9 is powerful enough to run the Microsoft Office Suite and YouTube at the same time. It’s impressive. Bixby One of the “not quite ready for prime time” issues I have with Samsung is the slow progress it has made with Bixby, its version of Alexa Voice Services. Samsung has demonstrated some remarkable natural language understanding, but many of Bixby’s best tricks have yet to be released. When Samsung catches up, Bixby may become an important way to interface with your home entertainment, your handhelds, your appliances, and all of the devices compatible with Samsung Smart Things (which is pretty much all of the devices in your world). For now, even though you can’t remap the Note 9’s dedicated Bixby button, “OK Google” works fine.
AR Emoji tools – Create your own AR Emoji or choose from a set of Disney AR Emojis. Very fast – 10nm processor. Optimized for gamers – Water-carbon cooling system and smart performance adjuster. Sounds great – AKG stereo speakers featuring Dolby Atmos. Lots of internal storage – Two models: 128GB/6GB RAM ($999) or 512GB/8GB RAM ($1,250). Preorders begin on August 10, and the phone will be available on August 24 at all major carriers or direct

(and unlocked) from Samsung. Great in the hand – A metal frame with “diacut” edges (cut by a special diamond cutting tool). Available in Ocean Blue w/yellow S Pen or Lavender Purple w/matching S Pen. Water resistant to 5' – IP68. Very secure – Features a combination of Samsung Knox hardware and software. Lots of ways to unlock – Face recognition, iris scan, pattern, fingerprint scan, password, or pin number. Geeks only – The Note 9 ships with Android 8.1 Oreo. Samsung will offer an update to Android 9 Pie. No date has been announced. Should You Buy It? If you love the Note you currently own, you’ll want the Note 9. If you’re an Android person, you’ll want the Note 9. If you need a new Android phone, you’ll want the Note 9. If your phone is more than three years old, not only will you want the Note 9, you should pre-order it now. If you’re an iPhone person, there’s nothing to see here. Almost every Samsung flagship phone has (and has had) better technical specifications than its contemporaneous iPhone competition. But this is not a technology battle. It is a confirmation bias war between the faithful. Which OS has the technological high ground? The answer is, whichever one you believe in. As for the hardware? The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is a pleasure to hold and to use. And not unexpectedly, it’s the best phone Samsung has made to date. Author’s note: This is not a sponsored post. I am the author of this article and it expresses my own opinions. I am not, nor is my company, receiving compensation for it.
Huge Storage Capacity For people who need to have a lot of data available locally (4K video files, monstersize databases, and the like), the Note 9 can have up to 1TB of storage (512GB internal plus the 512GB micro SD card). This is huge (pun intended). The Specifications Here’s a list of Note 9 benefits alongside the features that power them:

Natives of Australia, Parma wallabies were once thought to be extinct until a small population was discovered in 1967 on a small island near New Zealand. The Parma wallaby was listed as an endangered species by the U.S. Department of Fish & Wildlife in 1970. “Happy Hollow is an important contributor to the survival of this rare species,” says Hertell. “Over the last twenty-four years, several joeys born here have made their way to zoos across the United States and even abroad.”
As an Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) accredited facility, Happy Hollow participates in a co-operative breeding program called a Species Survival Plan. This program is coordinated through the AZA to protect and increase populations of endangered species. Parma wallabies are the smallest member of the genus Macropus, which includes all kangaroos and wallabies. Adults weigh 7 to 12 pounds and are around 18-20 inches tall, only onetenth the height of the tallest macropod, the red kangaroo.
