TRUMP'S IMPORT-EXPORT TARIFF USE DAMAGES MANY nations to which the tariff has been assessed. Tariff wars result; manufacturing is curtailed when reciprocity is used as a reprisal. Hilbert Morales EL OBSERVADOR

O

n June 6, 1944 the WWII invasion termed "D-Day" initiated the battle between good and evil forms of governance. President Trump needs to be informed that 60 American citizens of Mexican heritage earned their Congressional Medal of Honor during WWII (the largest number for any ethnic group). Those Mexican-American served this American nation with their service, valor and lives. Trump is visiting France's Normandy Beach where an estimated 9,300 American soldiers were killed in action while securing the Omaha Beach for further landings. The evil Axis powers of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy were defeated by superior Allied military forces during WWII. Mexican citizens participated in the Bracero Program to harvest crops because our American men were fully engaged in this WWII effort between good and evil. It is this battle which is still going on as exemplified by Mr. Trump's use of import-export Tariffs today. Import-export tariffs are a repressive tax which invariably gets paid by the American Consumer when purchasing imported goods from those

José López Zamorano La Red Hispana

The resulting tariff wars decrease international trade resulting in closure of factories whose productivity is no longer needed. Unemployment results with its impact on a family's income. In the past, efforts at this sort of isolationism has resulted in much human misery which accompanies the economic recession caused by the initial executive decision to use import-export tariffs to change international trade situations. Trump first applied import-export tariffs to the international trade between China and America. Today, Trump is going "full throttle" in his trade war against China by skyrocketing tariffs on Chinese goods, such as steel and aluminum. Those tariffs end up getting paid by the American consumer when these retail products are purchased. Let us be clear: The effects of this trade war could damage our economy for years to come and cost Americans BILLIONS of dollars. Congress MUST act now. So progressive citizens must urge Congress to intervene and end Trump’s trade war, and now include the mis-application on the American trade activities with Mexico, who is this nation's large international trade partner (and our neighbor). Trump's tactics are those of a bully. He is telling Mexico to stop those refugees originating

from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to the AmericanMexican border where they are asking for asylum from gangs, drug cartels and impotent local governance.

already devastated California's Central Valley agricultural economy. The export of soybeans, rice, and almonds has been curtailed - plus China is finding alternative suppliers.

He ignores the historical reality that this area was exploited by those Banana firms who left nothing behind for decades. In addition, American foreign policy supported oppressive dictators which did not establish local democratic governance.

Last week, Trump began threats to make things even worse by imposing more import-export tariffs on Mexican goods -- a move that local farmers are calling another “disaster” in the making. In his ignorance, Trump is messing with the development of the global economy which would enhance world peace. Nations who trade with each other tend not to go to war with their foreign trade partners. Diplomacy would trump "military knee-jerk" reactions.

Our leaders must take into considerations our American role in developing the dire dangerous climate in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. T.J.Cox (aka: Terrance John Cox, Democrat, CA District 21, Fresno) is an American engineer, businessman, and politician serving as the U.S. Representative from California's 21st congressional district. T.J. Cox has proposed a “Marshall Plan” effort to deal with the current community safety and security issues extant in those three Central American nations. The U.S. Congress and Mr. Trump need to address the lack of good governance, help establish community safety & security, and develop an economy in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. When their citizens can live and work at home, their need to seek asylum is mitigated.

Here’s the truthful reality: Trump’s import-export tariffs are just a tax increase on the American people by another name. This plan would punish working families with higher food prices, and it would make it harder for American businesses to sell our products abroad. I do not support Trump’s plan to impose tariffs on Mexico, China or any nation without a check & balance endorsement by the U.S. Congress.

The article recently published by the San Francisco Chronicle: “Trump's Mexico tariffs could have huge impact on California” is right on.

The Mid-Western Mississippi Valley watershed and California's Central Valley economies have suffered long enough under Trump’s trade policies, that’s why I strongly oppose imposing any tariffs. Mexican goods, especially auto parts, are fully integrated with America's auto industry. Plus the tariff approach undercuts the Canadian and Mexican Trade Agreements (formerly NAFTA).

Trump’s trade war with China has

JUGAR CON FUEGO

E

to demonstrate to Mr. Trump that there are consequences to his executive actions which do not serve our nation. The first and foremost: Latinos, especially those of Mexican heritage, need to seriously consider not supporting with their votes Trump's re-election to a second term. The U.S. Congress must begin to perform its essential check and balance monitoring and oversight responsibilities as already stipulated in the U.S. Constitution. Priority must be given to establishment of a statute of limitations (recommend 24 months after leaving the oval office) wherein a former President may be indicted for felonious criminal acts undertaken with his/ her knowledge and participation. In my analytic estimations, I would not undertake any immediate impeachment actions which would provide much grist for his "Tweet Mill", plus take too much time. The 2020 presidential election would be upon us sooner than a successful impeachment process. Besides, the presidential election gives us all an opportunity to speak without vote (rather than with our advertisement monies). Let's DUMP TRUMP as soon as feasible. Let's resolve to show him that American citizens of Mexican heritage really do count. And we are very much against THAT WALL, his pejorative demeaning words, and total lack of dignified, respectful, civil leadership for this American nation and this world. SO LET'S DUMP TRUMP!!

The school opened its doors last February and currently offers a variety of schedules that "end your fear of speaking English," since "you're practically immersed in the language," Concha said, and guaranteed a mastery of the tongue in just eight months. Though the school is not endorsed by the Public Education Secretariat, Concha hailed the experience of the teachers, all of whom are graduates from US universities. They are currently working with the secretariat to obtain teaching certificates, which was denied last July to some 120 members of the organization who were trying to land some of the 647 teaching positions established during the first stage of a national strategy to make the country 100 percent bilingual in the next 20 years.

exico City - Disappointed at being rejected by educational institutions and tired of waiting for Mexican government support, members of the New Comienzos organization, which aids the "dreamers" who return to Mexico, opened their own English school in the land of their birth. "We suddenly saw that no doors were opening to us, so we decided to create our own opportunities," Israel Concha, founder of this non-governmental organization, told EFE. New Comienzos offers free assistance to repatriates in need of jobs, psychological care, language certification, and its more recent service, classes in English. "Most of us are dreamers and the majority are already teaching English classes," Concha said while offering EFE a tour of the NGO's offices in Mexico City's Plaza de la Republica, where deportees from the US have established their own "Little L.A." At the New Comienzos school called Dream Teach,

The rejection by the secretariat contrasted with the promises of aid the government made to Concha in one of the many meetings he had with high officials, including current Education Secretary Esteban Moctezuma. "Up to now things have gone very slowly. We had hopes that the administration of (President Andres Manuel) Lopez Obrador would really see that what's happening to migrants is a humanitarian crisis," Concha said. Since 2015, New Comienzos has assisted more than 5,000 people, including Mexicans deported for committing crimes in the United States and dreamers who got tired of living in limbo following President Donald Trump's move to scrap the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and decided to return to Mexico. DACA gave undocumented young people who were brought into the US illegally as children the opportunity to pursue education or jobs without fear of deportation. More than 49,000 Mexicans, according to Government Secretariat figures, have been deported by US authorities this year and the number of deportees topped 200,000 some years. New Comienzos has identified some 12,000 dreamers between 18 and 30 as candidates to join the organization, and many of them have become a part of the NGO, which is expanding in Mexico.

UU.

I’ve heard that many household cleaners contain toxic ingredients that can pollute my indoor environment. How do I avoid such chemicals and can you suggest any safer alternatives? -- M. Sharp, Las Vegas, NV.

A few good scrubbies, some elbow grease and a little all-natural soap is all it takes for many household cleaning jobs.

I

t’s true that many common household cleaning products contain synthetic chemicals that can make the inhabitants of your home sick. The non-profit Environmental Working Group (EWG) looked into the ingredients lists of more than 2,000 cleaning supplies commonly available on store shelves across the country and found that hundreds of them contain substances linked to serious health problems. “A large and growing body of evidence links frequent use of many ordinary cleaning supplies at home or on the job with development of asthma and other respiratory problems,” reports EWG. Furthermore, many cleaning products contain carcinogenic elements like 1,4-dioxane and formaldehyde. Still others can cause chemical burns, allergic reactions or other irritations upon exposure to the skin. “Despite these health concerns, cleaning product labels often do not give consumers enough information about their ingredients to allow people to make informed decisions on which ones are safer and which ones might harm their health,” adds EWG. To fill the void, EWG launched its “Guide to Healthy Cleaning” to point consumers toward products made from natural ingredients that won’t make us sick. This free online database provides short reviews and letter grades regarding the eco-friendliness of thousands of cleaning products. Among the dozens of products scoring an “A” grade are: Meliora’s Unscented Soap Flakes (general cleaning), Nature Clean Automatic Dishwasher Pacs (dishwasher detergent), Aura Cacia Arometherapy Mist (air freshening), MamaSuds Toilet Bombs (toilet bowl cleaner), Aspen Clean Kitchen Cleaner (kitchen disinfectant), Attitude Laundry Detergent (laundry soap) and BuggyLOVE Organic No-Wash Stain Remover (carpet and upholstery cleaner). If you are a “do-it-yourselfer” you can make your own all-natural cleaning formulations for a small fraction of the cost of what you would pay for any manufactured name brand’s version of the same thing. National Geographic suggests that a 1:1 mix of distilled white vinegar and water in a spray bottle is all you need to clean stovetops, countertops, backsplashes, porcelain and ceramic tile, and that you can dissolve mineral deposits at the base of faucets by wrapping the offending areas in a vinegar-soaked rag for a few minutes and then wiping clean. Meanwhile, freshening indoor air without compromising indoor air quality is as simple as wringing out a towel soaked in vinegar and whirling it around the room. If bad smells are coming up from the bowels

of your sink, pour a 1:1 mix of baking soda and vinegar (about a quarter-cup of each) into the drain and then once the ensuing bubbles dissipate, flush with hot water. You can even avoid the nasty smell and chemical exposure inherent in using oven cleaning formulations by doing it yourself with an 8-hour, on-the-hour application of hot water and baking soda on oven splatter spots. It literally costs pennies to clean your house without any chemical exposure. With so many good all-natural, inexpensive options to choose from nowadays, why would anyone in their right mind pay the big bucks for namebrand, toxin-laden cleaners anymore? s cierto que muchos productos de limpieza comunes para el hogar contienen químicos sintéticos que pueden enfermar a los habitantes de su hogar.

ast week, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland in Anaheim, California with a galactic bang. The streets of the fictional world of Batuu were filled with those curious to explore the brand new, 14-acre section of the park dedicated to the George Lucas creation - which has become just as iconic as Mickey Mouse since its inception in 1977 with “Star Wars: A New Hope”. Not since 1993 has a new land opened at Disneyland (Mickey’s Toontown), and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a feat of architecture and design unlike anything seen before. Here, guests walk into a living, breathing word with a storyline meant for them to feel like they’re in this Star Wars universe living their own story, without ever leaving “The Happiest Place On Earth”. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is a tremendous undertaking for Disney, Lucasfilm and all the collaborators that made it possible. Originally announced in 2015, the entire land takes place in the fictional planet of Batuu, created specifically for this project. The specific region you are in is called Black Spire Outpost, and there

you can walk through and see curiosities in a huge marketplace, find mission clues through the town’s corridors, visit a droid repair shop, create your own lightsaber, and see giant spaceships on either ends of the land. (You can even drink the film’s famous blue milk, which is a frosty and sweet interpretation in the real world). From the iconic Millennium Falcon, (a vessel made famous as the spaceship of choice for Harrison Ford’s Han Solo character), which is essentially the centerpiece of the whole place, to the newer villain ship called the TIE Echelon, these anchors provide a visual feast to fans while still creating a brand new experience. This isn’t a place you’ve seen in the movies, but it undoubtedly feels like Star Wars. By going back to the original drawings for the first film and pulling elements and inspiration from the whole of the Star Wars universe, the creators of Galaxy’s Edge have managed to make a place feel so alien but so much like the places they’ve seen in films, animated series, and even the comics related to the franchise. It was fitting then that at the grand opening night on May 29, just in front of the life-size

Millennium Falcon, some of the featured guests included a few of the original film’s cast, on stage to dedicate the alien world. Amongst these guests were Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and Star Wars icons Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Billy Dee Williams, who played the parts of Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, the smuggler Han Solo, and his buddy, also a smuggler, Lando Calrissian, respectively. The group had the crowd gathered at the event going wild, as they recalled their experiences with the stories of the Star Wars films and made comments regarding the new land itself. BE YOUR OWN STORY For the designers working on Galaxy’s Edge, one of the main focuses in walking into the land was the patrons experience, overall. Creating a place that is unlike any other in Disneyland while still having Disneyland-like experiences required a lot of planning and diligence on the part of Walt Disney Imagineers and Lucasfilm staff. When the group in charge of creating the story of this land began to plot out ideas, they put themselves in the shoes of a Star Wars fan and

you can see all the details and splendor of the ship from different angles. Towards the end of the queue, you are brought forth into a familiar place if you’ve seen the films. The corridors and famous communal space of the Millennium Falcon greet you as you get ready to be split into your group and placed inside your cockpit. Here you get a moment to lose your mind as you are inside a faithful reproduction of the ship seen in the films, where iconic characters and moments have occurred for over forty years.

Carrie Beck, VP Animation & Live Action Series Development at Lucasfilm said, “You may want to see yourself as a smuggler or a scoundrel, a Jedi, Sith, stormtrooper; you can be drawn to the dark side of the force - but the goal ultimately was to support that interaction for anyone that comes to the land. So, they could actually see themselves here in this place. The land itself serving as the backdrop for your own personal story.” This includes the interactivity with the Play Disney parks app which taps into various activities throughout the land. So, in order to get the most out of your stay in Batuu, it is recommended you get this app and set a course for adventure, because there is a lot to do there. The app itself will turn into a Star Wars Data pad which can be used to hack modules on walls, scan signage and translate messages, in turn earn galactic credits. Daily missions will occur several times throughout the day and bring success to either the First Order or the Resistance, whichever one decides to choose. It's up to you. This is why Beck and her team spent a long time building a history for the land, from every vendor in the marketplace to the idea of the first settlers in Batuu thousands of years ago. All these layers of made up history add density to this world, makes it feel old and raises the potential for exploration - to find out all you can about it and all the secrets it may have in its history. It definitely adds to the fantasy of being in your own Star Wars quest. “We were thinking about all the layers of story that preexist your arrival here, and thinking about it like any place that you would travel to in our own world that has a history, that has a heritage, there were people that were the first settlers that came here. There are things that have happened in probably thousands of years prior to your visit. The layers, again, make it feel real, and lived in,” said Beck. preview had considerably short lines, I’d gauge that if you were waiting for an hour or so you would have a lot to look at even experience with the app.

Overall, the new world inside Disneyland is remarkable, alive, and one of a kind. Although I expect it to be busy through the rest of the year and beyond, there is so much to see and do that boredom will not feel like an option here. Smuggler’s Run is the star of the show, but the show is so much more than just that one ride. It’s the feeling of walking the streets, the interactions with the cast members of Disneyland working hard to make you feel like you’re in some sort of ultimate escape room, but you won’t want to escape this one. At least not until you get your fill.

The best part of the experience while riding is that you are an active participant in the results of the mission, buttons light up and prompts let you control the fate of this mission, either as you help steer the ship and avoid danger, shoot enemies and obstacles, or repair the damages and systems as an engineer. And best of all, you can pull the lightspeed lever - It’s wonderful attention to detail and a gift to fans.

On one hand, one of the great things about walking through the lands is how quickly one land fades into the other, and suddenly you’ve walked from Main Street into the retro futuristic Tomorrowland. Yet, when you enter Galaxy’s Edge you are 100% immersed in it from the get-go, the transition period being very sudden and enthralling. This was the goal for the team behind the four-year project. In fact, the land itself feels like an attraction, although you are free to roam and interact with it rather than sit and let the attraction take you someplace. Scott Trowbridge, Creative Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering explained, “With all the attention to detail and the immersiveness and the characters and the opportunities for exploration and discovery, the land itself, you can think of it as its own E-ticket attraction.” Batuu as a world immerses

the help of one of the various cast members who are all acting a part in this world. Trowbridge put it this way: “One of the things that we decided very early on is to build a new place, a place that was not a memory of somebody else’s Star Wars story, it was not a place that we had visited in one of the earlier films, we know those place, we know the stories that have happened there, we know the character’s experiences there. We know that we are not part of those stories. This is Black Spire Outpost; this is on planet Batuu. This is a place that is purpose built so that you can live your own Star Wars story and become an active participant in the world of Star Wars.” THE EXCITEMENT OF THE SMUGGLE Two major attractions are within Black Spire Outpost: Rise of the Resistance, which is currently not open, puts one in the middle of an epic battle between the First

There is so much that can be written solely about this ride and its attention to detail, but it won’t do it any justice until it is experienced. Once Rise of the Resistance opens later this summer, we will have another ride to dissect and enjoy.

Asa Kalama, the Executive Creative Director of Walt Disney Imagineering, was the man in charge of bringing this attraction to life. He says, “The level of guest participation in Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is different from anything we’ve done before. You’re not merely a passenger along for a ride, but rather the protagonist of the adventure.

he Mayor recommends a series of critical one-time investments in programs that build on his commitment to expanding opportunity for many who struggle with the rising cost of living, including free summer learning youth programs, pre-apprenticeships construction trades programs for young adults, street-cleaning jobs for homeless residents, and child care for working parents. He also advocates for substantial investments in public safety, including the return of "foot patrols" to restore "community policing" in some high-crime neighborhoods. The Budget Message also makes new investments to counter sexual assault, to prevent crime through community engagement, and traffic safety infrastructure. Finally, the Mayor calls for an "equity screen" to focus scarce resources for such services as blight eradication, pedestrian safety, parks rehabilitation, and crime prevention initiatives

on the City's most vulnerable neighborhoods. "With this budget, we deepen our commitment to programs that expand opportunity and confront inequities in our City," said Mayor Liccardo. "In struggling neighborhoods, we will double down on investments in educational programs for our youth, public safety, combating blight, and childcare for working parents." The following are some of the investments proposed in this year's budget: Among the new investments being proposed for this year's budget: • Education and Opportunity -Summer Youth Learning: To build on the success of San José Learns-a program that provides free after school learning opportunities to K-3 students

• Public Safety -Foot Patrol & Community Policing: The City Manager is directed to allocate $750,000 to fund overtime pay to bring back foot patrols and restore this critical element of community policing to San Jose's neighborhoods, long missing from our resourceconstrained SJPD in the past decade. -Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Safety: In response to requests from various districts, the budget allocates $1.6 million to various safety projects, and an additional $300,000 in one-time funds to provide traffic calming and pedestrian safety devicesranging from flashing beacons in crosswalks to bulb-outs and speed humps-across ten locations citywide to be identified using an equity screen to ensure they address the most severe pedestrian and traffic safety risks.

• Blight and Beautification Efforts -Blight Busters: The budget allocates $150,000 to pilot a program with a couple dozen trained neighborhood leaders who could assist backlogged code enforcement by reporting a list of frequent parking and code violations using an app or texting tool. -Other key investments include tree planting, mural painting, trash cleanup, and park rehabilitation. • Community Building & Empowerment -Neighborhood Association Start-Up Impact Fund: To help start and strengthen neighborhood associations throughout the City, the budget allocates $50,000 to increase outreach efforts and support the formation of neighborhood associations, starting with three in District 7 and any neighborhoods identified through an equity screen. -Project Hope: Six neighborhoods will join two others that have successfully utilized this program to prevent crime through community organizing, education, and empowerment. AKLAND, California.

AKLAND, Calif. - When a juvenile is accused of a crime, making them face the victim, take responsibility and make amends works better than prosecution and jail time, according to a new report. The Oakland area adopted a restorative-justice approach 9 years ago, and in just the first two years, 102 youths were diverted from the criminal-justice system, giving them a second chance to get back on track. Community Works West administers the program in Alameda County. Its conference coordinator, Jenna Kress, noted that kids who took part were almost 44% less likely to commit another crime within 12 months. "[The program] showed an 18.4% recidivism rate in Alameda County, where the traditional juvenile legal system shows a 32.1% recidivism rate with a control group," said Kress. The process works like this: if the district attorney and the victim agree, the young person accused of a crime goes through a restorative-justice program and takes responsibility for the crime. He or she will often face the victim, apologize and agree to make amends. This

might include going through an anger-management program, paying the victim back in the case of a theft, or performing community service. If successful, the charges are dropped. The nonprofit Impact Justice has worked with community groups, police, the district attorney and probation officers in Alameda, Contra Costa, Los Angeles and San Francisco counties, to implement this approach. According to Senior Program Associate Sia Henry, the current system is unfair to young people of color, leaving a disproportionate number behind bars or expelled from school. As Henry put it, "It's a great alternative to suspensions and expulsions, and a great way to lead to police-free schools." The report also found that victims have a 91% satisfaction rate with the program, and cited a huge cost savings. For example, the Restorative Community Conference program in Oakland averages about $4,500 per case, compared to Alameda County probation costs, which average $23,000 per year. IOS 13, IPAD OS, A $35,000 (?!) MAC PRO AND MORE: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT APPLE’S WWDC 2019 Your iPhone will automatically organize photos into events (like trips, holidays, and other special occasions). Photos and videos are easier to edit via quick access to editing tools like saturation, contrast, and white balance.

• “Desktop-class” browsing will boost web app (i.e. Google Docs) functionality

Apple Maps got a makeover, too, including the ability to easily share your ETA via the Messages app, a “Look Around” view (for a 3D street view), and more. Apple said that by the end of 2019, there will be an “allnew Apple Maps” rolled out across the U.S.

iPad OS will launch this fall.

Here are some other noteworthy new features in iOS 13: • QuickPath, a swipe keyboard native to iOS • Multi-step Siri Shortcuts • Updated privacy options for third-party apps • A smarter and more intuitive Reminders app

pple officially unveiled a slew of new hardware and software at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, May 3 in San Jose. Here’s everything you need to know. IOS 13 The major focus in iOS 13 is speed and performance. Whether you’re unlocking your iDevice with Face ID (30% faster), updating apps (60% faster), or launching apps (100% faster), you’re able to do what you want to do faster than ever. The upgrades to iOS extend beyond performance. Perhaps the biggest visual change to iOS is the addition of Dark Mode. Many of Apple’s first-party apps (including Music, News, Calendar, and the home screen) can sport new “dark” themes. The Photos app got a visual overhaul, too, and now lets you scroll back by day, month, year, and more.

Got AirPods? iOS 13 has some treats in store for you. Messages you get (from both first- and third-party apps) can be automatically played in your AirPods, and you’ll be able to reply via voice. Want to earn street cred with your musical taste? You can easily share music you’re listening to with a nearby iPhone owner. (Added bonus: no earwax!) Just get home? You can now handoff your music from your AirPods to your HomePod. iOS 13 will launch this fall. IPAD OS Not quite an iPhone, not quite a MacBook… the iPad finally has an OS to call its own. Apple officially unveiled iPad OS, which will pack more icons onto the home screen and offer a column of quick-access widgets. The biggest change, though, is that iPad OS now natively supports external thumb drives, SD cards, and more via the Files app. Just plug and play. It’s awesome!! Here are some other noteworthy features in iPad OS: • Applications can now have multiple windows open at the same time • Safari will automatically display the desktop (not the mobile) version of websites

• Reduced Apple Pencil latency (from 20ms to 9ms) • Custom font support! MACOS CATALINA Reports of the death of iTunes have been greatly exaggerated. (Well… sort of.) macOS Catalina (10.15) did, in fact, do away with iTunes by splitting it up into Music, Podcasts, and TV macOS apps. The other most important feature of iTunes — iOS device sync — has moved to Finder. One of the major new macOS features is Sidecar, which lets you use your iPad as a second display for your Mac. Third-party apps have offered this functionality in the past, but now it’s baked right into iPad OS. Here are some other noteworthy new features in macOS Catalina: •Improved Accessibility: “Voice Control” (on both iOS and macOS) lets you open apps and files, navigate your device, edit and select text (and more), all with your voice. • Enhanced Security: Macs with a T2 chip (the iMac Pro, Mac mini models from 2018, MacBook Air models from 2018, and MacBook Pro models from 2018) have a new feature called Activation Lock for added security. • “Find My”: A combination of Find My iPhone and Find My Friends to help you find devices (even those that are offline) anywhere in the world. • Screen Time: Like on iOS, you can monitor (and limit) your computer/screen usage. • New TV App: 4K HDR video playback (plus Dolby Atmos sound). macOS Catalina will launch — you guessed it! — this fall. SIGN IN WITH APPLE Apple has regularly played the security card for the past few years, and its latest feature is one of its

most aggressive plays yet. Just like you can sign into websites via Facebook or Google, you’ll now be able to sign in with Apple, too. The biggest difference between Apple and its competition is that you can choose to “hide your email” from third-party apps, where Apple will create an anonymous email address to use as the login. The rub here is that apps will need to add the Sign in with Apple functionality, and without the data benefits of gathering user emails… how eager will apps be to implement this feature? A MAC PRO STARTING AT $5,999 How much cash do you want to throw down on a new computer? Twitter was abuzz with the return of the “cheese grater” look, but power users will be even more excited as Apple has focused on power and a Mac that is “extreme in every way.” Apple’s newest computer offers “the greatest performance, expansion, and configurability yet.” If you want to have your mind blown at the possibility of what could be with this new behemoth of a computer, head to Apple’s site. Keep in mind: that power doesn’t come cheap. The 8-core Mac Pro starts at $5,999. The high-end model (28 cores) could top $35,000. And that’s before… A $4,999, 32-INCH 6K DISPLAY: THE PRO DISPLAY XDR What’s the best way to show off your new $35,000 computer? With a $4,999 monitor, of course. Apple’s new reference-grade display, the Pro Display XDR, has a 6K resolution (6016×3384) and is more than 40% larger than the iMac’s 5K display. It is staggeringly beautiful. The display features a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a super-wide viewing angle (featuring up to 25x better “off-axis contrast” than a standard LCD monitor). Apple calls it “the world’s best display.” The hardware goes “beyond HDR” with Extreme Dynamic Range (XDR) and “produces an industry-leading 1000 nits of full-screen sustained brightness and 1600 nits at its peak.” Need a monitor stand? Get ready to pony up again: The Pro Stand will cost $999. Both the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR will launch this fall.
