On behalf of the Hilbert Alumni Association Board, I want to congratulate the Hilbert College Class of 2025 on the completion of your studies at our beloved alma mater. You are now a fellow Hilbert alumnus, and we officially welcome you as new members of the Hilbert College Alumni Association.
The alumni association provides a vital link between the over 8,000 living alumni and the College through career networking, alumni events, charitable support and reunions. As you move on with excitement upon graduation, know that the Hilbert alumni community welcomes you and will forever keep you connected to our amazing campus community and fellow alumni.
As you leave us, we ask you to go out in the world and tell the great story of Hilbert College. Tell them about the caring community that you have been a part of and the opportunities you have had to study in a nationally recognized college. Tell them about the opportunity to learn from faculty, participate in research and internships – to be at a place where faculty knows your name. Tell them this story with a grateful, open heart – letting them know that Hilbert gave you the opportunity to make an impact not only while you studied here, but now in the world.
On behalf of the Hilbert Alumni Association Board members and all members of the Alumni Association, we look forward to seeing you, hearing from you – learning about your lives after Hilbert. Don’t forget to share the Hilbert story with all those you meet in this world. It is after all – your story.
Congratulations!

Laurie’s arrival at Hilbert in 1979 marked a pivotal moment in what would become a diverse and successful career in the law. Laurie graduated with an associate’s degree in paralegal studies in 1981, went on to the State University of New York at Fredonia to earn her bachelor’s in political science in 1983, and earned her J.D. at Union University - Albany Law School in ‘87.
Laurie followed her father Harold Boreanaz into the legal profession, eventually serving as managing partner at the law firm Boreanaz, Carra & Boreanaz, where she focused on civil litigation and high-profile criminal defense. Following the elder Boreanaz’s passing in 1993, Laurie and her brother Robert brought their busy practices and loyal clients to Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria LLP, where she served as special counsel.
With a passion for higher education that began at Hilbert, Laurie left private practice to become Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, Chief Disciplinary Officer, and Student Liaison at Canisius College, where she helped guide the institution through a pivotal period that saw new rules and regulations around student record keeping, misconduct, and other issues.
Laurie then spent seven years as a Confidential Law Clerk with the United States District Court for the Western District of New York before going in-house with Independent Health, Western New York’s innovative, nonprofit health insurance provider.
Laurie returned to Hilbert as an active member of the Alumni Association in 2014 before beginning her first term on the board of trustees in 2017. In her tenure on the board, Laurie has been an instrumental influence and guiding force for Hilbert’s strategic transformation and growth. As board member and eventually chair, Laurie helped to hire President Michael S. Brophy, PhD MFA, launch and grow Hilbert College Global, significantly expand Hilbert College Athletics, and most recently form the nonprofit consortium Franciscan Services to acquire Valley College.

| OUR MISSION
Hilbert College is an independent institution of higher learning that embraces its Catholic Franciscan heritage and values. Students from diverse backgrounds are educated in liberal arts and professional programs to become informed citizens committed to serving and strengthening their communities.
| THE SEAL
The cross on the Hilbert College seal is the foundation of Franciscan learning. Education meant to St. Francis of Assisi what it meant to Christ. It is education in its best Christian concept, the educare from the state of ignorance and sin to the state of wisdom and grace. Effective aid and means are found in the mystery of redemption.
The intertwined hands are the symbol of the close union that existed between St. Francis and Christ. The use of educational precepts and programs is affected only through our knowledge, love and imitation of Christ.
The torch is the symbol of the light of truth.
The 12 stars symbolize the diadem of stars upon the head of “the glorious woman clothed with the sun” and represents Our Lady’s title, the Immaculate Conception. Mary possesses, to the fullest, the harmonious balance of all human endowments that prevailed before the fall in the Garden of Eden. Thus, Mary Immaculate exemplifies in a singular way the ideal perfection that is the goal of Christian education. By reason of her role as the teacher of Christ, the master of teachers and exemplar of St. Francis of Assisi, the Blessed Virgin Mary is eminently qualified to direct the spiritual and intellectual formation of students the Franciscan way.
Stay tuned, Commencement photos will be available soon!
Photos taken with Dr. Brophy on stage will be available for purchase through GradImages. Watch your email for more information!
| HILBERT ALMA MATER
Since nineteen fifty-seven, our Franciscan mission shows, Giving us a moral guide, learning what we need to know. Our roots run deep like apple trees, through every high and low.
So, Hilbert, we will sing with the lessons you’ve taught us.
Service, hope, and virtueWe take into the sky!
Soaring high, the Hilbert Hawks! Because of you, we shall fly!
In learning paths, we walk as one; Our journey has just begun. You are our light, our shining beacon bright!
So, Hilbert, we will sing with the lessons you’ve taught us. Service, hope, and virtueWe take into the sky!
Soaring high, the Hilbert Hawks! Because of you, we shall fly!
Because of you, we shall fly!
| THE SECOND LETTER TO AGNES OF PRAGUE
What you hold, may you (always) hold, What you do, may you (always) do and never abandon. But with swift pace, light step, Unswerving feet, So that even your steps stir up no dust, May you go forward
Securely, joyfully, and swiftly, On the path of prudent happiness, Not believing anything, Not agreeing with anything That would dissuade you from this resolution Or that would place a stumbling block for you on the way, So that you may offer your vows to the Most High In the pursuit of that perfection To which the Spirit of the Lord has called you.
St. Clare of Assisi, Foundress of the Poor Clares the Second Order of St. Francis
