The students in Religion and Social Justice have compiled this Guidebook to give community members and visitors some context for the Mary Garden outside of the West Herr Atrium. Because they know that their project could not have been completed by themselves, they would like to thank those who have helped them in their work.
We would like to thank the following people and organizations for their kind assistance: Rachel Wozniak, the Director of Service Learning and Community Engagement, for encouraging the class to embark upon the project, for scouting the campus to find the perfect location for the garden, and for logistical help; Dr. Habib Bakht, for helping the Landscaping Group conduct a pH analysis of the soil; Gary Dillsworth and the entire Maintenance staff, for providing us with the tools to prepare the soil for planting, moving the statue of Mary to the garden, and coordinating the purchase of seeds; the Library Staff, for helping the Research Groups find information on the topics found in this Guidebook; Kathleen Christy, for providing assistance to our Fundraising Group; Matt Heidt, for helping with the publication of the Guidebook; and the Saint Kateri Conservation Center, the inspiration for the project and an invaluable resource for advice and support.
