J3 Visit John Shaw Science Wing
Junior 3 paid a special visit to the Senior School in May as part of their class topic on the ‘Romans’. Children travelled back in time to Ancient Rome courtesy of immersive VR technology, as well as enjoying the opportunity to learn about an important former pupil, John Shaw (Class of 1966), and his wife, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, whose generous £1.5m donation funded the development of the top floor of the Science Wing back in 2022.

Senior School Activities Week
Transitus-S3 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable week prior to the mid-term holiday, with the regular timetable torn up in favour of a variety of extracurricular activities and excursions.
A fun-filled few days included exciting trips to Dundonald Castle and Mugdock Country Park, an exploration of the exhibits at Glasgow Science Centre and the chance to scale the heights at The Climbing Academy. In school, pupils had the chance to take part in graffiti workshops, body balance sessions and trying their hand at baking and sewing, amongst a number of other invigorating activities.
What a great way to head into the mid-term break!
J4 Sustainability Social
Back by popular demand, Junior 4 organised a ‘Sustainability Social’ for their parents to attend on Thursday 25th April.
Throughout this interactive morning, J4 children shared their vast knowledge from all that they have learnt about plastic pollution, Fairtrade and water wastage, to mention just a few of the topics touched upon during this memorable ‘Sharing The Learning’ event.
Well done Junior 4!

Transitus Go Yellow!
Our youngest Senior School pupils donned the famous yellow hats to help raise money for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.
The fundraising event saw Transitus pupils walk 5km around Bellahouston Park on Wednesday 29th May as part of the annual ’Go Yellow’ charity walk, raising money for this incredible charity that provides palliative care and support for people living in South Glasgow and East Renfrewshire.
A tremendous effort from Transitus pupils!
Adventures in the Great Outdoors!
Our pupils headed for the great outdoors in May, with exciting adventures for our J6 and S1 cohorts!
Junior 6 pupils had an unforgettable time at Newlands Adventure Centre towards the beginning of the monthfrom scaling hills and scrambling through rivers, to zip-lining through the woods and getting out into the lake on kayaks, their adventures acted as a memorable way to sign off their time at the Junior School.
Later in May, nearly 100 First Year pupils ventured to Raasay on the annual Activities Week trip. Some classic Scottish Spring weather didn’t deter our adventurers, who gamely took on all kinds of thrilling pursuits including a spot of abseiling, teambuilding challenges, pier jumping and a 1,000ft ascent to the peak of Dùn Caan, the highest point on the Isle of Raasay.

J1 Sharing the Learning
Families were welcomed into the classroom earlier this month to hear all about what Junior 1 have learnt during their most recent class topic, ‘Under the Sea’.
Parents were positively awash with new information as our little ocean experts relayed their learning to their loved ones, entertaining their audience with a presentation before showing off various pieces of ocean related work, ranging from phonics and writing to Maths and Science. Great work Junior 1!

Junior School pupils took the time to meet with instrumental instructors in April at a ‘Come and Try’ Music Event, trying out a variety of musical instruments with the view to taking up individual tuition.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award season is upon us! Our Bronze participants took to Arrochar Hills recently, while Silver and Gold Qualifying Expeditions will take place in early June.
