Located in the Piedmont Triad, High Point is the only city to extend to four different counties in North Carolina! Being the ninth-largest city in the state, High Point is a city that people choose to live in, as it's centrally located and has so much to offer. Greensboro and WinstonSalem are just a 20-minute drive, and Charlotte or Raleigh is about an hour away. The city claimed its name because it was the highest point for the North Carolina Railroad allowing trade for goods and transportation.
The transformation of downtown High Point is underway due to an impressive collaborative effort of city government, many business and community leaders, Forward High Point, several benefactors, and master developer Elliott Sidewalk Communities.
The High Point City Council established a strategic goal “to create a downtown catalyst project” to increase the commercial tax base and create a public gathering space – drawing residents and visitors year-round.
In a few years, that idea has gone from a vision to the opening of newly-built facilities. The anchor of activity within the redevelopment area is the City of High Point’s $36.1 million multi-use stadium, which opened in May 2019. The High Point Rockers professional baseball team calls that stadium home. The team belongs to the 21-year-old Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, which is an independent professional league. In addition to baseball, the stadium has been designed to accommodate soccer, football, and lacrosse. The multiuse stadium will also host concerts, festivals, and other community activities. The facility has seating for 4,400. With standing room, the stadium can accommodate more than 5,000 attendees.
Surrounding the stadium will be more than $80 million worth of newly-constructed properties – public plaza, offices, restaurants, retail shops, a hotel, an events center, children’s museum, residential properties, and mixed-use properties. Great things are on the horizon for our booming city.
Furniture Market
Furniture Market is located in the furniture capital of the world, High Point, NC. This event happens annually in April and October, running one week in the Fall, and two weeks in the Spring. It provides furniture manufactures from all over the world with a taste of upcoming trends and styles. Over 75,000 people travel from all around the world to High Point Furniture Market to shop 11.5 million square feet of showrooms. There are around 2000 exhibitors across 180 buildings. The event has contributed nearly $6.8 billion to the areas economy.
High Point, NC is known as the Furniture Capital of the world!
