We are excited to welcome you to our 4th annual online sale. On offer will be 15 yearling bulls as well as 5 lots of purebred replacement heifers and 4 groups of commercial heifers.

The bulls this year are as consistent of a group as we have ever had. They have been fed since weaning a Total Mixed Ration consisting of barley silage, hay, oats and an added protein supplement and mineral package, prior to weaning they were on pasture with their mothers. We work closely with Brayden Schmidt at Bullseye Feeds for our entire herd to formulate rations that will encourage performance while still keeping longevity in mind. There is performance data available, as well as ultrasound results.

The purebred heifers are from the heart of our replacement pen. They are from cow families we have retained offspring from and we are confident

they will work in anyones program. The commercial heifers are again offered from Ker-Kain Farms located in Shaunavon Saskatchewan as well as a handful that are from Kens ranch in Cache Creek, BC. Vince and his family have been supporters of our program since we began breeding Speckle Park cattle and he has once again put together a really nice group of heifers for the sale.

• Bulls have been vaccinated at pasture turnout and weaning with Express FP 5 LV5 and Fermicon 7 as well as treated with Bimectin insecticide. They have received the Fusoguard footrot vaccine this spring as well as Clean-up Pour on insecticide.

• They have been inspected and semen tested by Dr. Curtis Luzi at Riverstone Vet Services and are deemed healthy and satisfactory to breed.

Lead the Way 8L is one of the first INC Fully Charged sons that we have sold. Lead the way is the highest performing bull in the sale with an actual weaning weight of 743lbs off of a first calf heifer indexing 120. 8L is a long smooth made bull that will put performance into his calves. His yearling weight indexes 111.

Light it Up 12L is the lead off Guardian son out of a daughter of Jencrest Unique 6U. Light it up is a proud, soft made individual with lots of muscle shape and a nice shaped skull. He is a sound structured bull with a big foot. He indexed 114 weaning and 107 yearling weights. 12L measured the largest ribeye at 16.27 inches and over 5 marbling.

Landslide 09L is the first calf out of the very first born Gladiator daughter. She is a heavy milking broody cow with lots of maternal sisters still retained in the herd. 09L weaned off at 654lbs indexing 110. He is a smooth made moderate framed heifer bull that doesn’t sacrifice performance.

Lawman 17L is another Fully Charged out of an RH El Beardo 354E daughter. He is a docile, big framed smooth made bull with 38cm scrotal. 17L has the second highest marbling measurement in the sale at 5.6.

It is again a pleasure to be working with the great crew at KFC Farms. The KFC program continues to increase the quality of bulls on offer year after year. The 2024 sale offering is as deep as it ever has been, and the bulls have developed very well during the feeding period this year.

The KFC cow herd utilizes an organic mineral package throughout the year to ensure proper immune function and overall health of the mother cows and progeny is maximized. The bulls are grown on grass with their mothers, and then moved onto a total mixed ration that is designed to promote lean muscle growth. It is important that rumen health stays a priority throughout every stage of the bull’s development, therefore the ration includes organic minerals to maximize the overall nutritional health and development of the bulls. The feeding program is built to maximize forage utilization, enhancing longevity is the focus when developing the sale bulls. The total mixed ration consists of barley silage, mixed hay, oat grain, and a low

inclusion protein supplement formulated for the ration. The nutrition and development of the bulls along with the entire cow herd is continually being monitored to meet environmental and season conditions to compliment the animal’s overall health.

Lawmaker 26L is a bull that gained a few followers this fall in our show string. 26L was the 2023 Farmfair International Reserve Champion Speckle Park bull as well as the Champion Legends Speckle Park bull making the top 6 in the Legends Jackpot show. He was also the Reserve Sr Bull Calf Champion at Canadian Western Agribition. He has a massive hip and top, and is very wide based. He was our heaviest bull calf at weaning weighing an actual 809lbs. His dam 70D has had 7 calves weaning above average. 70D is a moderate framed tank of a cow with a perfect udder. 26L is a bull that will add performance to your program.

Last Call 32L is another Gladiator son out of JSF Essence 10A, a cow we have flushed here quite a bit. A full sibling to Last Call sold to Adelia Farms in 2022 at the National Sale at Agribition that went on to win Reserve Champion Female at Farmfair International in 2023. 32L was the Reserve Champion Sr Bull Calf at Farmfair international. 32L is a long, smooth made individual with dark pigmented testicles and a proud presence.

Lets Roll 82L was the final addition to our 2023 show string winning Intermediate Champion bull calf at Farmfair International, and Reserve Champion Speckle Park bull in the Presidents Classic Jackpot at Canadian Western Agribition. A full brother sold last year to Mirrenna Farms in Chilliwack, BC for $7,000. 82L is a muscular individual with a lot of mass and shape. He indexed 118 weaning and 109 yearling weights with an average daily gain of 3.52lbs/day. He carries a well rounded carcass result with the highest lean meat yield of the group.

Legend 96L is a soft made stout individual that indexed 116 weaning and 108 yearling weights. He is smooth shouldered with an extended front end. Full brothers to him sold to Semex for $34,500, and Underhill Specs for $11,500 in 2022.

Lennox 94L and Limit up 100L are flush brothers from RH 60W Excalibur 345E and RH 60A Fancy Lady 96F. We purchased Excalibur from River Hill in 2018 and used him extensively until he was injured. His progeny have always performed in the top end of their group; bulls and heifers alike. We have used him to flush donor cows, and retained as many daughters in our herd as we could. These two brothers are high performance bulls weighing up in the heavier end of the sale bulls are the youngest in the pen. They have plenty of frame and muscle shape and lots of hair.

29L is a maternal sister to the dam of Light It Up 12L. This KFC Hawkeye 273H daughter is long sided and smooth made. Her dam we bought from Greenwood Speckle Park as a calf for $17,000. She is a beautiful uddered cow with really good feet.

132L is a March born End to End daughter from a 3 year old Dart daughter we bought from Red Maple Speckle Park. This heifer would make a really nice show prospect.

Commercial Program STEER BUY BACK

We would like to extend this offer to any past or new customer who has bought bulls from us. We will buy back steer calves sired by KFC bulls in the fall at fair market value. We know that marketing these calves sometimes can be challenging and we would like to do anything we can to help. These steers will be put on a feed test program with Speckle Park Reserve where we can collect data from them in with the hope to market the Speckle Park breed for what its good at; Carcass quality and feed conversion!

T he commercial heifers on offer this year are a mixture of heifers form Ker-Kain Farms in Shaunavon Sk, as well as a handful from Ken’s ranch - Hat Creek Ranch in Cache Creek, BC. The majority of these heifers come from Angus or Angus influenced mothers and are sired by KFC Speckle Park bulls. We are excited to work with Vince and his family to bring these heifers to you. The heifers have been vaccinated with Express FP 5 LV5 and Fermicon 7 in the fall as well as treated with Clean-Up insecticide this winter.
