to our 2nd annual online sale. Another year has passed and it feels like just now things are somewhat getting back to normal. This past fall was a welcome change to get back to in person shows and sales. Visiting and marketing with fellow breeders and customers is always a pleasure to do face to face. We had a very successful show season and are grateful for the opportunities that have come from it.

With the dry conditions this summer we did find that the calves as a whole weaned off lighter than years past. We have tried to offset that with a nutrition plan with Brayden at Bullseye Feeds and feel that the bulls have now caught up to the average weights from last year. When formulating a nutrition plan we try to keep longevity in mind. The bulls are fed a forage based Total Mixed Ration with corn silage and added protein and mineral pellet.

This year we are excited to offer you 15 of our best yearling bulls with the addition of 16 commercial open heifers. Along with carcass data we are also offering Igenity test data from Neogen. We hope that you can utilize this data to help choose a bull best fit for your breeding program.

This pair of bulls are flush brothers that were sent out here in the fall from Ken’s place in Abbotsford. There’s something to be said about having green grass in February! Their weaning weights were also taken after they made the 10 hour trip from Abbotsford to Alberta being freshly weaned. Taking that into account, they still indexed above average in both weaning and yearling numbers. Neither bull is a carrier of Myostatin, another trait hard to find in Excalibur sons. Excalibur has consistently added performance to his calves; this duo is no exception.

The Guardian calves have come easy with 24 calves averaging 71lbs. His dam, a first calf heifer, weaned Jailbird 6J off at over 50% of her own bodyweight. KFC Navigator 37J is a full brother to the bull we campaigned this fall; KFC Gladiator 1G. Gladiator won Champion Bull at both Lloydminster Stockade Roundup as well as Canadian Western Agribition. Gladiator also placed in the top 10 in the Supreme at Agribition - something that has only ever been done one other time in the Speckle Park breed! 37J’s Dam is a cow we have flushed. She is a moderate cow that milks hard, weaning with an average index of 112. A full sister of Navigator has calved and is similar to her dam with a really nice udder and a lot of milk. Navigator 37J has all the right pieces with an added advantage of being a myostatin - non carrier. There are very few Excalibur sons that are not carriers. Take advantage of the performance of this bull and the ability to use him on any cows in your herd.

Judgement Day 72J is an embryo bull with a bit different bloodlines from PAR Rachel 88R and Raven Meadows Magnum 10N. Although older in lineage this bull does not look out of place here. We showed this bull this fall as well bringing him to Farmfair International and Canadian Western Agribition. He carries his thickness throughout his body and moves fluently. A full sister has also been retained in our replacement pen.

It is a pleasure to be working with the great crew at KFC Farms. The program continues to be a leader in the Speckle Park breed and the 2022 sale group is proof of the quality the program strives to produce.

The bulls are developed on grass with their mothers, and then moved onto a total mixed ration that is designed to promote lean muscle growth. It is important that rumen health stays a priority throughout every stage of the bull’s development, therefore the ration includes organic minerals to maximize the overall nutritional health and development of the bulls.

The feeding program is built to maximize forage utilization, enhancing longevity is the focus when

developing the sale bulls. The total mixed ration consists of corn silage, mixed hay and a pellet balanced to the specific ration. The cow herd utilizes an organic mineral package to maximize proper immune function and overall health of the mother cows and progeny. The nutrition and development of the bulls along with the entire cow herd is continually being monitored to meet environmental and season conditions to compliment the animal’s overall health.

These heifers come from commercial Angus cows that were bred with our Speckle Park bulls. These fleshy heifers would compliment anyone’s commercial program.

LOT C - E: KER-KAIN FARMS

The lot C to lot E heifers are consigned by Ker-Kain Farms in Shaunavon SK. These heifers are May and June born and weigh an average of 600-700lbs. They are from Sim-Angus cows and Speckle Park bulls. Videos of the heifers can be viewed online.
