From the beginning I was very upfront with my doctors I did not want heavy narcotics I wanted to heal from this hip replacement with cannabis only I spoke extensively with the nurses, anaesthesiologist and everyone involved in the process and they were all very respectful of my wishes I did advise them that if I was screaming in agony than yes I would accept their medication Thankfully that never happened
When I woke up from the operation I was clear minded, no dizziness, no light-headedness. I was able to get up to go to the bathroom with a walker within an hour of waking up In recovery the nurse asked if I had my edibles, I said of course She turned to walk away my high dose capsules while in the recovery room She came back an hour later and asked me how I w nd ready to get home. By 3pm I was out the door and headed home for a 3 hour car ride as a passenger in the front seat. I had another capsule in the car and a CBN Bare joint when I got home I used Royal Oil Rub on my muscles and at bedtime I had a nice CBG gummy M importantly, I was fine! I only woke up once that first night to have a capsule and a Tylenol The medications I did take were Tylenol, Aspirin for blood clots, antibiotics and anti-inflammatories as prescribed I was also prescribed Hydromorphone but it stayed in my drawer And I never took a single one!
Day 2 I woke up pain free, I laid there for a bit enjoying the comfort The day was a mix of the required medication and a few joints thrown in as well as my high dose capsules I was able to get around by myself What I did need help with was getting my leg in and out of bed My daughter assisted a lot with meals and lifting my leg for me
Having canna in capsules really helped It' s hard to sit and roll a joint in the moment, pre-rolls helped too I do wish I had rolled up some more before my operation
If you are wondering what high dose capsules I used.. they were a mix of some I made with my Magical Butter Machine and ones I have gotten thru legacy connections I do believe the legal market has a long way to come regarding their medicinal dosages for healing
Day 4 was my worst day my daughter said it was OK if I took stronger pills, but I refused My biggest spike in pain was getting in and out of bed and one time I gasped 3 times real quick I later found out that my incision had opened just a tiny bit in 3 spots I felt justified in my little gasps
By day 13 I could really feel I was turning a corner 2 weeks out and I was off the walker and onto a crutch midgetbudz pictured & hydromorophone not taken
By week 3 I was using a cane only
Slowly I was able to reduce the Tylenol and continued consuming my cannabis every day My true life saver was a full spectrum pain oil from Royal Oil Rub. The roll on application made it so easy to use and reach hard to access areas I did keep it away from my incision as it is just for muscle pain It is not available in dispensaries
At 2 weeks, my staples were removed and I was allowed to use vitamin e on the incision.
By week 3 I had switched over to my own homemade canna healing ointment when my incision was fully closed and healing nicely The hard scar tissue that was surrounding the area really loosened up since I'd been using my own homemade cream.
By week 4 I had seen no swelling at all I do attribute a lot of my recovery to cannabis I had no ill side effects No nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite, at no time did I feel ill in any form I' ve healed nicely and every day have felt just a little bit better I no longer have that deep aching bone on bone rubbing, sure there' s a bit of pain in other areas while I heal
All in all I am so glad I chose to heal with cannabis instead of the Hydromorophone the doctor prescribed. I am not here to give advise, I am not a doctor, this is my own personal experience and in no way advise on how you should heal I just know I'll be returning those pills as soon as I am well enough to walk them back to the pharmacy myself, unassisted and in a straight line with no wobbling back and forth.
