Chevrolet is introducing an all-wheel drive Corvette worthy of the storied ZR1 designation: the 2026 Corvette ZR1X. With 1,250 horsepower and electrified all-wheel drive, ZR1X is a true American hypercar and the most advanced Corvette ever. With ZR1 and ZR1X, Chevrolet now has the most powerful American performance car duo of any auto manufacturer.
ZR1X features:

“From day one, we designed the mid-engine Corvette architecture with ZR1X in mind,” said General Motors senior VP Ken Morris. “This is the most revolutionary platform in Corvette history, supporting the widest range of American sports cars and delivering world-class performance at every level.”
Otherworldly power, impressive traction
America’s hypercar starts with the ZR1’s LT7 V8, generating more power than any other V8 produced by an American auto manufacturer — 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed dualclutch transmission. With a forged flat-plane crankshaft, finger-follower valvetrain, and dry-sump lubrication, this hand-built 5.5-liter Gemini small-block V8 was developed alongside the naturally aspirated flat-plane crankshaft engines powering the Corvette Z06 and Z06 GT3.R race car. This mighty V8 includes:
• Dual 76-mm turbochargers
• A “maniturbo” exhaust design that combines the manifold and turbocharger housing to get the turbos as close to the exhaust valves as possible, improving throttle response by decreasing time needed to build boost
• Dynamic anti-lag controls that maintain turbo speed when off-throttle in certain situations so boost is avaiable rapidly when throttle is reapplied
Where ZR1 embodies the rear-wheel drive precedent set by prior generations, the Corvette team added all-wheel drive capability for a new take on performance. ZR1X benefits from the foundation set in 2024 by E-Ray, the first-ever AWD Corvette, combining a high-voltage battery pack and electric motor driving the front axle with V8 propulsion turning the rear axle. There is no physical connection between the two power sources on ZR1X, and the electrified propulsion system does not require a plug-in — charging takes place through regenerative efforts from the front drive unit.
ZR1X’s battery pack, located low and centralized within the rigid spine of the chassis, was designed specifically to rapidly cycle between applying bursts of power and charging. This robust pack has been tested at tracks around the world and conquered Corvette’s 24-hour track durability test. While the battery capacity is 1.9 kWh like E-Ray, the usable energy has grown to provide greater lapping capability. This improvement raises the peak operating voltage, which increases the power output from the front drive unit.
The compact electric motor on the front axle is capable of 186 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque on demand. While retaining the same shape and size of the E-Ray front drive unit, the ZR1X unit pairs strengthened internal components and improvements in energy deployment to generate an additional 26 hp and 20 lb-ft of torque. Two propulsion systems, one mission
The eAWD chassis controls system designed for E-Ray has undergone a significant upgrade for ZR1X. With the benefit of experience on this electrified AWD architecture, the development team applied knowledge from E-Ray to solutions specifically for the LT7’s character and capability. The result is evident in on-road drivability and ontrack performance. ZR1X is constantly monitoring driver inputs and vehicle conditions to blend power at both axles for responsiveness and traction management.

We have reviewed the L663 (2020+) Land Rover Defender previously on Highline Test Drives and were impressed by how the capable SUV bridges luxury and off-road prowess, ready for a weekend in the wild but just as comfortable doing school drop-off on Monday morning. The Sedona Red edition excels in every way our previous 110 X-Dynamic SE model did; however, now in a striking color hue not common on the road today.
The Sedona Red edition Defender comes in a one-off Land Rover/Jaguar color hue resembling a metallic burgundy. Sedona Red is a very deep, rich red that is so rich, it looks black or purple in low/night lighting. Black exterior trim with premium 22” 5-spoke gloss black wheels draws even more attention to the striking exterior design of the L663 body. We've praised the L663 Land Rover Defender in the past for nailing the retro yet modern luxury SUV revival that so much of the SUV market is focused on. Because the Land Rover Defender’s designers executed this retro/modern luxury SUV so well, an incredibly modern color like Sedona Red does not make it feel like the Defender has become something it is not, but is leaning into its luxury SUV qualities.
Do not be mistaken that because this Defender looks even better on-road, it is no longer able to handle off-road. Like our 110 X-Dynamic SE, the Sedona Red sill features a 3.0 liter mild hybrid I6, AWD w/ twinspeed transfer box, terrain response, hill descent control, air suspension, and a driving mode for any off-road terrain/situation you can find yourself in. We do not expect to see many Sedona Red Defenders splattered and caked with mud and dirt on the beautiful exterior paint, but like all owners of Land Rover products, knowing that should you ask it to, it would be no problem, will be enough to get customers into the showroom.
Inside the Sedona Red edition you’ll find ebony windsor leather and Kvadrat fabric upholstery. Featuring Land Rover’s new Signature Interior Pack, boosting the luxury touches such as materials, detailing, and additional storage solutions for front-seat passengers. 14-way power-adjustable seats offer heating, cooling, and memory functions, complemented by newly designed winged headrests for enhanced comfort. In the second row, climate-controlled seats and matching headrests are standard on both Defender 110 and 130 models.
Our Highline Test Drives revisit of the L663 (2020+) Land Rover Defender confirmed everything we enjoyed about the vehicle the first time around; however this time, it is in the striking Sedona Red edition. tS: ‘too Subdued’ to Wear the STI Badge?

The all-new fifth-generation WRX (fourth-generation in the U.S.) has had its fair share of controversy among Subaru purists ever since leaked photos surfaced back in 2021. “There’s too much plastic on the exterior.” “Where’s the power bump?” And the most common complaint of all: “Where’s the STI variant?”
Now, four years and several STI place holders later—like the WRX GT and WRX tR—we’re still left waiting for a full-fledged fifth-generation WRX STI. But in the meantime, Subaru has given us this: the 2025 WRX tS. That stands for “Tuned by STI”—Subaru Tecnica International. When STI got their hands on the new generation WRX, they had a few different directions they could’ve taken. Ultimately, they made some noteworthy changes and brought over a few proven upgrades from the WRX GT and tR. But the real question is—are these the upgrades enthusiasts were actually asking for?
Powering the 2025 WRX tS is, perhaps disappointingly, the familiar 2.4-liter dual overhead cam, horizontally opposed turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It still produces 271 horsepower at 5,600 RPM and 258 lb-ft of torque from 2,000 to 5,000 RPM—the same power plant we’ve seen in the WRX for the past few years. And while this engine remains lively enough for the chassis, especially when paired with the notchy 6-speed manual, the only transmission offered in the tS, the lack of any performance upgrades just feels like a missed opportunity.
Granted, the tS does get some compelling upgrades: RECARO bucket seats, Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, and the electronically controlled adaptive dampers from the WRX GT. Still, for a model bearing STI’s heritage, you’d expect more under the hood—and at the very least, more under the hood visually. The engine bay is devoid of STI badging or any special treatment. To be fair, Subaru could’ve gone overboard with STI logos—but here, it feels like they didn’t go far enough. The tS looks and feels too subdued for what is supposed to be the ‘highest-performing’ trim level in the WRX lineup.
A few additions from Subaru’s Japanese STI catalog—such as the STI flexible front strut tower brace, upgraded radiator, or even branded oil and fluid caps—would have gone a long way in making the tS feel like your not driving a typical WRX, but the $45,705 MSRP highest-performing, track-capable trim level WRX. These are relatively minor parts that could have added major personality.
Still, while there’s room for disappointment, the WRX tS does bring some standout features to the table. First and foremost is the adaptive damping suspension, carried over from the WRX GT. The setup on the previous tR model drew heavy criticism from both owners and journalists for its punishing ride quality. While great for track duty, it was far too stiff for everyday use, making daily commutes feel more like a chore than a pleasure. Subaru clearly listened: the electronically adjustable dampers on the tS transform the overall driving experience, offering a level of composure and comfort not seen in recent iterations. With the press of a button, drivers can switch between five driving profiles—Comfort, Normal, Sport, Sport+, and Individual—tailoring the car for backroad thrills or relaxed daily commuting. Drivers can also customize their experience with three steering settings—Comfort, Normal, Sport, and adjust the powertrain between—Normal and Sport modes.
Another welcome upgrade? The gold-finished Brembo® brakes—six-piston calipers up front and two-piston in the rear. These give the WRX tS a significant bump in braking confidence. They feel responsive, linear, and more than capable of bringing the car to a halt with authority.
Visually, the tS carries a more refined, understated aesthetic. Black Silica accents highlight key exterior trim elements, offering a subtle contrast that complements its aggressive lines without feeling overdone. Our press car arrived finished in stunning Sapphire Blue Pearl, a color that absolutely pops in direct sunlight.
Inside the cabin, the WRX tS continues to impress. Slide into the alcantara-finished RECARO® heated bucket seats with blue accents, and you’ll find a near-perfect blend of style and support. They’re snug without being restrictive, and the materials prevent any slippage when you're pushing the car through corners. These seats are easily the centerpiece of the tS’s interior.
Subaru also made a long-overdue move by introducing a fully digital, customizable gauge cluster. It’s a noticeable step forward in tech, even if it doesn’t quite match the customization nor refinement of German competitors like Audi. That said, it does create a jarring contrast with Subaru’s dated central infotainment screen. Side by side, the old UI is now even more overshined compared to the new digital cluster. While it's not necessarily an issue with the portrait style layout of the screen itself, the user interface just seems unpolished. It’s quite laggy, and overall just not the most user friendly. With a simple software update down the line, these issues should be able to be addressed accordingly to make the overall experience feel more refined.
Overall, while the 2025 Subaru WRX tS isn’t the full-fledged STI we’ve been yearning for, it does a better job than its predecessors at filling the STI void. It delivers meaningful improvements over previous ‘placeholder’ models, even if it stops short of being the complete STI variant many hoped for. Still, Subaru deserves credit where it’s due. In an industry rapidly shifting toward EVs and digital everything, the WRX tS stays grounded in driver-first values—with a proper 6-speed manual, a traditional mechanical handbrake, and enough analog character to remind us why we fell in love with Subaru performance cars in the first place.

New Bentayga Speed:
The new Bentayga Speed is the most powerful, most dynamic and most exhilarating Bentley SUV yet. It eclipses even its acclaimed W12-engined predecessor, delivering increased power and performance along with the most dynamic chassis set-up ever offered on a Bentayga – including, for the first time, the ability to generate on-throttle slip angles in Bentley’s pinnacle performance SUV.
At its heart is a new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 641 hp and 627 lb/ft of torque. This new powertrain is capable of accelerating Bentley’s SUV performance flagship from 0-62 mph in just 3.4 seconds and delivers a top speed of 193 mph. The new Bentayga Speed also features significant advances in dynamic capability – with an enhanced SPORT chassis mode and a new ESC Dynamic setting that brings maximum driver involvement and the choice between enhanced road-holding or the ability to slide the car on-power. The new chassis set up and powerful engine confirm the Bentayga Speed’s position as a new performance pinnacle for the luxury SUV.
New 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and a thrilling soundtrack
The Bentayga Speed’s new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine delivers exceptional performance, with peak power of 641 bhp and a 0-60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds. These figures comprehensively surpass those of the Bentayga V8 S (4.4 seconds) as well as the 3.9 second mark set by the previous W12-engined Bentayga Speed. Peak torque of 627 lb.ft is delivered between 2,250-4,500 rpm, with the characteristic Bentley “torque plateau” delivering the effortless wave of acceleration that’s a constant of Bentley performance.
The engine isn’t just more powerful than its predecessors – it’s also more characterful. As standard the Bentayga Speed is fitted with a Sports exhaust system, which delivers a rich, powerful engine note that complements the eager character of the High Powered V8 and promotes a deep sense of driver engagement. This exhaust can be distinguished externally by two elliptical tailpipes emerging through the rear diffuser. For an even more thrilling soundtrack, the optional Titanium Akrapovic Exhaust accentuates the power, drama and potency of the V8, with its aural expression of the performance that awaits at the merest flex of the throttle. This system features quad tailpipes.
Enhanced dynamic capabilities
Of the three driving modes available to drivers of the new Bentayga Speed, both COMFORT and BENTLEY modes remain unchanged in calibration compared with other Bentayga models, to retain exceptional day-to-day and grand touring competency. SPORT mode however is significantly enhanced, delivering increased steering response, roadholding and driver connection, enhanced by a 15% increase in suspension damping stiffness. Enhanced SPORT mode enables the driver to exploit the power of the V8 engine more fully when cornering and to experience the exceptionally agile turn-in capabilities of brake torque vectoring.
For the ultimate in braking capability and driver engagement, optional carbon ceramic brakes allow the selection of ESC Dynamic in SPORT mode, which relaxes ESC intervention to permit exhilarating drift angles or power-on oversteer where appropriate. Torque vectoring by brake allows for a sharper turn-in, and more power to be put to the road during corner exit – with improved driver confidence going hand-in-hand with the extra agility. Also included in ESC Dynamic programming is Launch Control, a first for any Bentayga model.

The 19th Annual La Jolla Concours d’Elegance, presented by LPL Financial, concluded its most dazzling year yet, drawing over 15,000 guests to La Jolla’s sparkling coastline for a three-day celebration of extraordinary automobiles and coastal luxury. The coveted Best in Show honor was awarded to a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing, owned by John and Kimberly Word of Newport Beach, CA.
Finished in black with a striking red interior, the iconic Gullwing captivated judges with its impeccable craftsmanship and restoration. Originally purchased by John Word in 1977 for $25,000—his first classic car— the vehicle was recently restored over four years by Hjeltness Restoration in San Diego. “She is my pride and joy,” said Word, reflecting on his nearly 50-year journey with the car.
Sunday’s grand Concours at Ellen Browning Scripps Park featured 122 meticulously restored automobiles, competing across eleven classes and fourteen specialty categories. This year’s theme, “Mascots in Motion,” paid tribute to the artistry of hood ornaments and the enduring legacy of automotive marques.
“This year’s Concours embodied everything we love about the event,” said Robert F. Kerner Jr., Co-Chairman of the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance. “From each collector’s passion to the awe on every guest’s face, it was an unforgettable weekend.”
The festivities kicked off Friday with the exclusive VIP Opening Soirée on the Concours lawn with 20 of San Diego’s top restaurants, live entertainment, and a sneak peek of the top Concours cars, followed by Saturday’s La Jolla Tour d’Elegance—a scenic rally of 75 vintage and modern marvels through La Jolla and Rancho Santa Fe—and Porsches & Power on Prospect, a free public display of 89 Porsches and hypercars in the heart of La Jolla.

The grand Concours event on Sunday featured standout marques including Bugatti, Delahaye, Packard, Porsche, Maserati, and Rolls-Royce, with vehicles curated by an all-volunteer committee led by Co-Chairs G. Michael Dorvillier and Robert F. Kerner Jr., alongside Chief Judge Nigel Matthews. Outside the Concours gates, the public enjoyed the La Jolla Motor Car Classic, featuring a vibrant mix of modern and vintage cars with a special showcase from Fast Lane Drive.
“We’re incredibly proud of what we accomplished this year,” said Dorvillier. “Thanks to our volunteers, sponsors, and community, the Concours continues to grow—and we’re already looking ahead to an unforgettable 20th anniversary in 2026.”
Proceeds from the 2025 La Jolla Concours d’Elegance benefit the La Jolla Historical Society, supporting the preservation of the community’s rich architectural and cultural heritage. This year’s event also emphasized education and mentorship through the Youth Judging Apprenticeship Program, held in partnership with the San Diego Automotive Museum, fostering the next generation of car collectors and enthusiasts.

We looked at Maserati’s distinctive design only once at the beginning, but we never intended to simply transpose an automotive form into a design piece. Instead, we allowed the essence of Maserati – its approach to luxury and performance – to settle and become part of our language. What emerged is not merely a branding exercise, but a collection that embodies a vision of elegance and innovation designed to stand the test of time,” explains Giancarlo Bosio, Giorgetti Creative Director.
The Giorgetti Maserati Edition collection is an epic journey between sea and sky, where Neptune's trident inspires the names of the products. Each element in the collection references mythology and untamable nature, paying homage to Maserati's iconography and the deep connection between winds and seas that have always inspired the brand’s automotive masterpieces. Each piece in the collection is a tribute to nymphs, ethereal and enchanting figures that leave a mark with their beauty, evoking stories of harmony and strength, just like the winds that define Maserati models. Nereide, a symbol of wisdom and power, is a modular sofa resting on a solid ash wood platform, while Seidon, inspired by the sinuous lines of automobiles, unites form and function in an unexpected sofa, achieving a dynamic balance between the backrest and seat. The sculptural Lorelei armchair and sofa embrace those who sit in them with a seductive and comfortable hug, while the Teti pouf stands out for its elegance and refined geometric detail. The Ligea coffee tables reinterpret the shapes of automotive air intakes with a dynamic and sophisticated design, while the Sibilia coffee table, with its vertical element, evokes the resonance of the wind. Ploto is a coffee table that sails smoothly, following the flowing movement of the waves, with wheels that give it freedom of movement. Finally, Neomeris evokes the restlessness of the sea, always moved by the waves.
The Maserati Giorgetti Edition is an expression of “rolling tailoring”, celebrating elegance, Italian heritage and passion for details. It is a Grecale Folgore full-electric one-off, created by the newly inaugurated Officine Fuoriserie workshops in Modena, completely dedicated to the most refined customization of Maserati cars, where technology meets artisanship. This Grecale Giorgetti Edition has been conceived in a custom-made Gleaming Dusk bodycolor with color-matching inserts in the grill, and it features 21” wheels in Glossy Black with grey clearcoat finish, whereas brake calipers and the Fuoriserie logo are in copper color. Its exclusive denim-colored leather interiors are conceived to pay tribute to Giorgetti and enhance the coziness of a ‘home feeling’, with seats crafted with an exclusive Giorgetti woolly 4-thread fabric (denim, white mélange, black, and copper), used in the Giorgetti Maserati Edition interior collection. The unmistakable Trident present on the denim Alcantara headrests is made, for the first time, in wood of a grey-blue nuance. Tunnel, dashboard, steering wheel and door panels are made with denim leather with stitched graphics. The stainless steel / wood door sills are laser-etched with ‘Due icone, una visione’ (Two icons, one vision) and ‘Eleganza senza tempo’ (Timeless elegance), adding a final romantic touch to this celebration of Italian excellence.
