The suspect was initially detained “by citizens” in the Woodland Hills neighborhood Renata Grinshpun, who witnessed the suspect being detained, told KTLA: “We were sitting in the backyard, and suddenly, we hear a car come to a screeching halt, and the guy is running out saying, ‘Stop! Drop what you’re holding! Neighbors, he’s trying to start a fire! Call 911!” The man had what appeared to be a large “propane tank or a flamethrower,” and a neighbor saw him trying to light an object on fire behind a vehicle, she said. SCHOOL’S OUT, SNOW’S IN!
By: Addison Atlee

Snow days are a rarity in the south, but it’s even more rare at Highland Academy Even still, Highland Academy students got to sleep in, stay warm and rest easy when the snow started falling around 8 am on Friday, January 10, 2025.
On Thursday, Principal Watkins called an emergency chapel for the student body to announce that school would be closed the following day The cafeteria would open later than usual on Friday morning, giving the students the ability to stay warm and cozy in the dormitories without worrying about being late for class
Principal Watkins shared that because the snow would be falling all day and conditions would worsen throughout the day, he did not want to ask students or staff to attempt traveling in hazardous conditions Classes were still to continue with teachers posting assignments in Google Classroom, but the administration building was not hosting classes
Students who live on campus still went to their various jobs, as the administration building did not close, dormitories still needed to be cleaned and food still needed to be served, but the laid-back environment was welcomed by all
SNOW APOCALYPSE OF JANUARY 2025

Students enjoyed the day in various ways Some stayed in their rooms and in their pajamas or lounge wear for a majority of the day Some took it as an opportunity to reconnect with friends or play board games. Still, others took the opportunity to play in the snow such as Freshman Miguel Bittencourt, Sophomore Adrian Cruz, Junior Melissa Gongora, and Seniors Stephanie Silva, Genrikh Semanivvskyy, Adriana Ramon and Nalayne Matheson They all took turns sledding down the big hill on front campus with sleds provided by Larry Ashcraft, science teacher and IT The group spent the rest of the day together building snowmen, making snow angels, and drawing pictures in the snow. “I've never had a snow day like that It was so fun ” said Bittencourt Whatever the chosen pass-time, students enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere and took advantage of the day.

ANXIOUS ATTACHMENT STYLES
By: Shiloh Bushey Mental Health
Developed in early childhood, the Anxious Attachment Style is when one finds it difficult to trust others, low self-esteem, clinginess and fear of abandonment
Anxious Attachment Style (AAS) is caused by inconsistency in parenting during adolescence. When parents are emotionally available one moment and shut off emotionally the next, it can be hard to know when it's safe to express feelings A child not knowing whether or not their emotions are safe can cause habits of overthinking and make it difficult to trust others.
People with AAS often pick apart and overthink interactions with their loved ones. For example, an argument can cause someone with AAS to jump to the worst-case scenarios. Those with AAS often put their loved ones on a pedestal and seek approval Most of the foundation with someone with AAS is just about pleasing their loved one AAS causes people to become “obsessed” and fixate on one person.

People with AAS tend to struggle with boundaries, whether it be setting boundaries or breaking them. They are often seen as “needy” and “clingy” and find it hard to be alone. In adults, it's common for those with AAS to become jealous or obsessive of their partner There are 2 types of Anxious Attachment Style
Anxious-ambivalent attachment: “The term "preoccupied attachment" may also be used. People with anxious-ambivalent attachments are usually needy They are anxious and have low self-esteem. They want to be close with others but are afraid that people don’t want to be with them.” These people tend to be seen as “annoying” and “clingy ”

Anxious-avoidant attachment: “This style is also called "dismissive attachment." People with anxious-avoidant attachments are the opposite of needy. Instead of wanting to be emotionally close, they avoid connecting with others.’ They are known for craving “emotional freedom” Things helpful for healing include: therapy, finding a relationship with someone who has a secure attachment and style, learning to love yourself and work oneself esteem and breaking the cycle Things like meditation and quiet reflection time can give you a chance to better understand what's going on inside your head. Communication with those around you can help others better understand your situation. Setting healthy boundaries and sticking to them can provide a feeling of stability in your relationships and your own personal life
