CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Product Care Guide

Proper care of your bathroom products will keep them looking beautiful and functioning well for years.

This guide offers simple care instructions and essential information to help you maintain your products and ensure your warranty remains valid.

General Care Tips

Cleaning:

Clean all surfaces with mild soap, warm water, and a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh detergents, abrasive cleaners, or steel wool, as they may damage surfaces and void your warranty.

Spill Management:

Wipe up spills immediately, especially on wood, stone, and concrete surfaces, to prevent staining and damage. Be cautious of water running off the vanity top and always seal the area between the top and vanity to prevent water ingress.

Sunlight & Heat:

Protect products from direct sunlight and avoid placing hot objects directly on surfaces, especially stone, concrete, and artificial stone, to prevent discolouration and thermal damage.

Staining Prevention:

Use mats or trays to protect surfaces from stains and scratches, particularly under items like hair dye, toothpaste, hand soaps, and plants, which may cause chemical leaching.

Tannin Leaching:

Some woods may release tannins when exposed to moisture, leading to discolouration. Regular cleaning and prompt drying can minimise this effect.

Considerate Bathroom Design:

Position vanities away from high-moisture areas like showers or baths to reduce the risk of moisture damage. We recommend keeping a minimum distance of 600mm between water sources and wood products to maintain warranty coverage.

Wood & Concrete Care:

Natural materials like wood and concrete, even with a poly coating, are susceptible to damage. Regular maintenance is required, and raw timber products must be sealed to protect against moisture and wear.

Natural Stone:

Always seal natural stone with a proper sealer to reduce the risk of stains and prolong its lifespan.

Note:

Care products supplied by Highgrove Bathrooms must be used according to their specific instructions to maintain product performance and warranty coverage.

Natural Stone Surfaces

Cleaning

Clean natural stone with a mild pH-neutral soap, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive or acidic cleaners, as they may damage the stone surface.

Stains & Surface Protection

Natural stone is porous and can stain easily. Avoid placing items such as cosmetics, soaps, toothpaste, hair dye, oils, and potted plants directly on the surface, as they may leach chemicals or moisture that can cause permanent staining. Use trays, coasters, or protective mats to safeguard the stone and maintain its appearance. Stains caused by improper use or lack of surface protection are not covered under warranty.

Handling

Stone is a heavy and fragile material. Always lift with two people, and never carry or move it in a flat, unsupported position, as this can cause it to snap or crack.

Care & Heat Exposure

Keep surfaces dry where possible, and never place hot objects directly onto stone. Use heat-resistant mats to prevent thermal shock, discolouration, or cracking.

Sealing Requirement

All natural stone surfaces must be sealed using a high-quality stone sealer prior to use and resealed as needed, depending on the level of use and exposure. Proper sealing protects against moisture ingress, staining, and surface deterioration. Failure to apply and maintain a proper seal may void warranty coverage.

About This Product

Olympia Travertine is a premium natural stone, prized for its timeless beauty, rich texture, and organic surface character. Each top is unique, with naturally occurring pits and craters that enhance its luxurious, authentic appearance.

* Note: As a raw and unsealed stone surface, Olympia is not waterproof as sold. To ensure long-term performance in wet areas such as bathrooms, proper cleaning, filling, and sealing are essential prior to installation. Required Preparation Before Installation

Surface Cleaning (Mandatory)

Before applying any filler or sealer, the stone surface must be thoroughly cleaned to ensure proper bonding and long-term performance.

• Use a pH-neutral, stone-safe cleaner to remove any dust, handling residue, or environmental contaminants.

• While the stone is supplied clean, it is porous and may have absorbed particles during transport or storage.

• Allow the surface to dry completely (24–48 hours in a well-ventilated area) before proceeding.

Filling Surface Voids

Travertine’s natural surface may include pits or voids. These can be filled to enhance water resistance and surface strength:

• Use a stone-safe epoxy or polyesterbased filler, matched to the travertine’s colour.

• Apply carefully and allow to cure fully. Light sanding may be used to achieve a smooth finish.

Sealing for Protection

Sealing is essential to prevent moisture absorption, staining, and surface damage:

• Apply a high-quality, penetrating stone sealer suitable for natural stone in wet areas.

• Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for coats, application method, and drying time.

• Reseal periodically based on use and wear.

• General-purpose or wipe-on sealers, including nano coatings, are not suitable.

Ongoing Maintenance

• Clean regularly using a pH-neutral, stone-safe cleaner.

• Avoid abrasive tools and harsh chemicals such as bleach, acidic cleaners, or vinegar.

• Inspect the surface periodically and reseal as required to maintain protection and appearance.

Avoid Oversaturation:

When dealing with toothpaste splatters or other marks, lightly mist the cleaning solution onto the mirror instead of soaking it. This prevents excessive moisture, which can exacerbate edge creep.

Chemicals:

Acidic, alkaline, or abrasive cleaning agents, including certain commercial mirror cleaners with ammonia or vinegar, should be avoided. These substances can damage the mirror’s surface and accelerate edge degradation.

Mirror Edges:

Exercise caution to prevent any liquid from coming into contact with the mirror edges. Moisture penetration along the edges is a primary cause of edge creep.

Neutral Silicone:

Must be used if installing: Acidic silicones will damage mirrors, ensure you use a proper mirror silicone for any installation.

Shower Glass

Nano Coat:

We suggest protecting your glass with a Nano Coat finish. Glass, under a microscope has pores, these fill up with limescale etc. Nano coat products help keep these clean. Ask your team in-store for a product that suits our glass showers.

Clean:

Regularly clean with a mild soap, thoroughly rinse with clean water, and gently dry with a soft cloth to avoid water spots.

Scrubbing:

Steer clear of abrasive cleaning tools (e.g. steel wool, scouring pads) and harsh detergents to prevent scratches or damage to the glass.

Fixture Maintenance:

Contact your glazier for the tightening or adjustment of shower fixtures as part of ongoing maintenance.

Shower Glass Installation

Professional Installation Only:

Ensure your shower glass is installed by a qualified tradesperson. Improper installation may result in breakages, which will void the product warranty.

Important:

While our glass meets Australian standards and is toughened for safety, any glass can cause injury if misused or damaged. Never attempt to install a shower yourself or handle glass without proper protective gear, including eye protection, masks and gloves. Only qualified tradespeople, such as glaziers, should install the glass. Failure to do so will void your warranty.

Wear and Tear

Normal Aging:

Over time, materials will show signs of wear and tear. Warranties do not cover normal aging, including scratches, stains, or fading.

Maintenance:

If a product shows signs of prolonged neglect or has developed an issue that has worsened beyond repair, the warranty may be voided due to the inability to fix the product. To avoid this, promptly contact the supplier if you notice any problems or signs of wear.

Ensure that rubber spacers and silicone seals are used between the glass and any screws, clamps, or tiles. Shower glass can rupture even months later if installed incorrectly. No hard surface should ever come into direct contact with the edges of the glass, as this is a weak point. If you notice any cracks, damage to the edges, or defects such as scratches, do not proceed with the installation. Return the glass for an exchange instead.

Responsible Use:

Following the care instructions in this guide will help prevent damage and extend the life of your products.

LED Mirrors & Heated Accessories Installation

Professional Installation Only:

Ensure your electrical products (LED Mirrors and Heated Towel Rails etc) are installed by a

licensed tradesperson. Improper installation may result in breakages, which will void product warranty.

Material Descriptions

Solid Brass

Our solid brass is an alloy of 61% copper and 36% zinc and other elements, including phosphorus, aluminium, magnesium, and lead.

The Australian standard for lead levels cannot exceed 0.25% (lead free). The lead content within our solid brass products is significantly under the required limit.

304 Stainless Steel

304 grade stainless steel is more durable than brass, making it a premium offering that is well-suited for commercial and indoor use. 304 stainless steel contains a high amount of nickel and chromium content. Other major alloying elements include manganese, silicon, carbon, and iron.

316 Stainless Steel

316 grade stainless steel is applied to our outdoor product range. This grade is commonly used for marine applications due to its higher resistance to acids, and chlorides, including salt. 316 has a similar composition to 304, with the notable addition of molybdenum, giving it superior resistance to corrosion and making it suitable for use in chloride environments.

Solid Surface

Our solid surface is an engineered material composed of aluminium trihydrate (ATH), acrylic, epoxy or polyester resins and pigments. This combination is remarkably strong and durable, giving a natural stonelike feel. Solid surface is mainly applied in the construction of our basins and baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic is a material we use across our range of baths. They are vacuum moulded products made of acrylic resin and reinforced with fibreglass. Additionally, our acrylic baths feature double walls to increase thermal insulation.

Sintered Stone Tops

Sintered stone is a composite material made from a blend of natural raw materials that are subjected to extreme heat and pressure. This process creates a solid, dense, and non-porous surface that is highly resistant to stains, scratches, and heat. Key Benefits of Sintered Stone: Natural and Sustainable: Composed entirely of natural materials, sintered stone is a sustainable choice for construction and design. Non-Toxic: Unlike some other materials, sintered stone does not contain toxic

resins, making it safe for both indoor and outdoor use. Recyclable: The material can be easily recycled by crushing it, reducing its environmental impact. Antimicrobial: Treated with antimicrobial agents, sintered stone helps to inhibit the growth of bacteria, making it a hygienic choice for surfaces like countertops and floors. Versatile: Its durability, resistance to stains and scratches, and versatility make sintered stone suitable for a wide range of applications.

Marble Stone Tops

Being a natural material created by limestone rock and calcium carbonate that has been heated to extreme temperatures, causing it to fuse together with other types of rock to form flowing patterns. This process gives marble good durability, insulation properties and resistance to heat. Its individual natural beauty gives a luxurious feel to any bathroom.

Installation and Structural Considerations

Pre-Installation Inspection:

Thoroughly inspect your product for any damage before installation. Installation could conceal issues that may otherwise be covered under the warranty.

Professional Installation:

Ensure all products are installed by a registered tradesperson to maintain warranty and ensure safety.

Proper Mounting for Wall-Hung Vanities:

Never screw directly into the back of your wall-hung vanity unless using the hanging brackets or as specified in the instructions. Wall Hung Vanities will fall off a wall if instructions are not followed.

Always ensure studs and noggings are properly placed behind the brackets in the wall, as improper installation could lead to the unit detaching or voiding the warranty.
