Manchester Bee Monument
Miss Sellers
Art club students in years 7 and 8 have been taking part in creating bees in aid of the Manchester Bee Monument. The sculpture has been made out of seized knives and firearms is in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Police and aims to highlight the city’s stance against all forms of violence. Students have been getting crafty with local artist Sallie Tyson, who ran a workshop creating a variety of different bees with students. Sallie is a local beekeeper who thought students at Highfields would love to get involved in creating miniature bees. These bees will be handed out when people visit the sculpture. The sculpture is making its grand tour around the Derbyshire area and will be in Hall Leys Park, Matlock on 21 December 2022. All locations for the bee’s tour can be found on the link below: Manchester Anti-Violence Bee Monument Tour - Discover Derby (visitderby.co.uk).
