Highfields School is fortunate in the kinds of people who have volunteered to become governors, each bringing a variety of skills and experience to support the school.
The composition of the governing board is made up of community, parent and staff governors each serving a four year term of office.

Highfields governing board has a strong focus on three core strategic functions: ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its students, and the performance management of staff, and overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
All governors are required to: undertake appropriate induction training prepare for and attend all meetings regularly undertake further training to develop their skills
