Mrs Grainger wanted to send this example of great year 9 work to you from Hannah (9S2) - she has gone above and beyond to annotate these poems to help prepare her for GCSE Literature. This is all on top of the work that she has been set each week – a huge well done Hannah!
Well done to year 9 students who have tried really hard with their work on the poem 'Bayonet Charge', by Ted Hughes, this week. This is a powerful, but challenging, poem and it was impressive to see so many students researching the poem before completing the work set – well done to:
Millie (9h2), Ben (9h2), Lauren (9h2), Georgina (9h2), Harry (9h2), Roma (9h4), Sophia (9h4), Archie (9h4), Maisy (9s2), Oliver (9s2), Hannah (9s2) and Sam (9s2).
Mrs Cooper wanted to thank the amazing year 7s who have been submitting some fantastic English work over the past few weeks. A special shout out to Tilly, Thomas, Matteo, Poppy, Esme, Chloe, Maria, Ira, Megan, Ruby, Dillan, Olivia, Chloe, Finlay, Liam, Fleur, Lucy and Harry who have submitted some brilliant work on the text extracts. Thanks also to Millie for submitting a gorgeous leaflet with descriptions and pictures of cakes she has baked - keep working hard year 7!
Design & Technology
Miss Morris wanted to share the year 7 design and technology recycled planter project designs. Over the last two, weeks 7H3 have been learning about the 6R's, a guide to sustainable designing - Recycle, Reuse, Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Repair.
The design brief was to consider how ‘recycle and reuse’ could be used to design and make garden planters using plastic drinks and milk bottles. They produced lots of creative designs on a theme of their choice and some students were able to make their designs at home. Here are some examples. Well done to Tom, Jacob, Tyler-May, Nicole, Isabelle and Sergio for submitting pictures of your planters.

Sports Leaders
Mrs Allen would liketo give a shout out to the students who have already started the new sports leaders course ‘I Can, I am’ (remember any student can complete this course - you don't have to be a sports leader. It is new for this period of Covid-19 and the transition back into school).
Great work from Holly (Y10), Sophie (Y9), San (Y8), Maddison and Martha (Y7).
A big shout out to James (Y12) and Hettie (Y11) for completing the current 2019/2020 sports leaders booklets ready for assessing.
Remember – Mrs Allen will need all the year 10, year 11 and year 12 booklets completed by the end of JUNE.
Drama

Miss Bonsall would like a shout out to year 11s for their drama bridging work, in particular Mollie who has been researching Commedia Dell Arte Style as this is linked to the pre 1900s text we study in years 12 and 13.
