Newsletter School News Epilepsy Action Fundraising Congratulations to Starkholmes students who raised ÂŁ535.43 for Epilepsy Action on Own Clothes Day on 23 March. The fundraising was led by lower school students we are very proud of this achievement and the generosity of the students.
Design Technology & Engineering – Final Projects Miss Morris
All Year 11 and 13 students have now completed the coursework element of Resistant Materials, Product Design and Engineering courses and have produced some very well made, creative products. They have been able to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of a range of materials and manufacturing processes learnt over the last two years. We are now focusing on preparing them for exams and hope that they are equally successful in June. The images below show the diverse range of products that the students have made.

Mr Shirtcliffe will be holding GCSE PE revision classes on Monday (30 April) and Thursday (3 May) in L4 until 4.30pm.

Sports Leaders News Girls Active PE Apprentice, Miss Elliot, is leading assemblies for Girls Active to promote healthy lifestyles. She has attended Year 7 and 8 assemblies talking to students about her journey in sports leadership.
PE Apprentice Recruitment Applications are open for the 2018-19 programme – please speak to Mrs Allen or Mrs Turner for an application form. Interviews will be announced in due course.

Last week’s maths quiz answer … Charlie wants to buy a new house but he doesn't like house numbers that are divisible by 3 or by 5. If all the houses numbered between 100 and 150 inclusive are for sale, how many houses can he choose from?
Solution: There are 51 houses numbered from 100 to 150 inclusive. Of these, 17 are multiples of 3, 11 are multiples of 5 and 4 are multiples of both 3 and 5. So the number of houses Charlie can choose from is: 51−(17+11−4) = 27

Newsletter Highfields School Contact details Communication with school General enquiry (Form Tutor) The first point of contact for parents/carers for general enquiries is the Form Tutor. If parents/carers feel enquiries have not been adequately addressed by the Form Tutor, this can be followed-up with the relevant Head of Year. We encourage parents/carers to keep in touch with tutors by using the student planner. There is a space at the end of each week where parents/carers can write a note to the tutor.
Subject specific enquiry (Subject Teacher) If parents/carers have subject specific enquiries, we ask that they contact the relevant subject teacher. If parents/carers feel enquiries have not been adequately addressed by the class teacher, this can be followed-up by the relevant Head of Department. Parents/carers can contact us on the main school number (see below). Reception staff will aim to help with queries or refer parents/carers to a member of staff who can.

School to Home communication In order to improve communication with parents/carers and to reduce the substantial cost and environmental impact associated with the amount of paper and photocopying involved in school mailings all correspondence is sent to parents/carers via email only. Our aim is that only students’ Assessment Profiles/Data Sheets, and of course, confidential or personal mail will be posted home. We fully understand that some parents/carers may wish to continue to have paper copies sent home rather than to receive communication by email and we will make arrangements to ensure that it is possible for this to continue upon request.
