U12 Netball Miss Tabbenor

The Highfields U12 netball team placed in a local netball tournament held at Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School on 4 March. They were competing with QEGS, Denstone and Abbotsholme.

The girls performed brilliantly as a team beating QEGS 7-5, before an overwhelming display and taking a 28-1 victory over Abbotsholme. Unfortunately, we lost to Denstone by 1 point in the final game the score finishing 13-14 but Highfields came 2nd overall.

The team played some exceptional netball and were a credit to the school.

Sixth Form Football Team Mr Shirtcliffe

Our sixth form football team travelled to Tupton Hall on Wednesday 4 March in the 2nd round of the County Cup. They played well, but found themselves down 3-0 at the break. Although the team came out fighting the second half and played some excellent attacking football, scoring two goals and close to a third, unfortunately time ran out, but it was a great come back.

1st Team Rugby Mr Shirtcliffe

On Thursday the 5 March our rugby 1st team travelled to QEGS, they played some excellent plays particularly in defence, showing true Highfields grit and managed to put some points in the board. Unfortunately, they conceded more tries than they scored.

Y7 Football Team Mr Shirtcliffe

Our year 7 boys’ football team travelled to Lady Manners on Thursday for a 7-a-side development match. We had three teams as did Lady Manner - we won 5 of the 9 games, drew 1 and lost the others.

It was a truly brilliant evening of football played in excellent spirits. Some great goals were scored throughout the evening - well done to all students involved.
