Second dose Covid-19 vaccinations

Following national guidance, the NHS Immunisation Team are offering the second dose of Covid-19 vaccinations to young people age 12 – 15 and they will be continuing to use the e-consent as with other vaccine programmes. The team are also able to offer the first dose in school if your

child hasn’t yet received a vaccination.

Children must be 12 on the day of vaccination. Please complete the consent regardless of whether you have completed one previously. The Immunisation Team will only use newly completed forms.

There must be a gap of 12 weeks (84 days) between first and second doses. If there isn’t then your child will be refused vaccination on the day. Please only consent if your child will be eligible. There must also be a gap of 12 weeks between Covid infection and vaccination. If your child contracts Covid after completing the form or receives their vaccine elsewhere, please let the team know so they can remove them from their list.

Please visit https://www.derbyshireandcityimms.co.uk/Forms/CovidDose2 to complete the consent form. Highfield School’s unique school code is DD112950. Date in school: 15 February 2022. If

possible, please make sure your child is wearing short sleeves and eats breakfast on the day of vaccination.

Please be aware that due to storage requirements of the vaccine the team will need to know the number of vaccines needed in advance. Therefore, the consent system will close two working days prior to the session at 9am. If your school session is on a Monday, the form will close the Thursday before and schools on Tuesday will close on Friday. The team are unable to add extra forms once it has closed.

For more information about the vaccination please visit COVID-19 Vaccination Guide for Young People 12-17 (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1037877/ UKHSA-12222-COVID-19-guide-for-all-CYP-12-17.pdf)

If you experience any problems completing the consent form or would like further information, please call the School Age Immunisation Team as below.

Fundraising news

Student’s fundraising success

At the end of last term Kayleigh (year 7) decided to raise money for Ashgate Hospice by lighting up her garden with a display of Christmas lights.

Kayleigh wanted to support Ashgate Hospice following the care they gave to her family. She raised £120 for Ashgate Hospice and Gears of Goodwill.

Well done Kayleigh!

Christmas Jumper Day

As you know, the last day of term was non-uniform day and many staff and students celebrated the end of term wearing Christmas jumpers.

We raised a total of £455.05 for Save the Children and would like to thank everyone for their kind donations. Donations help pay for blankets and hats to keep a child warm, provide a hot meal, bring essential healthcare, education and protection to millions of children around the world and help save lives.

The afternoon ended with the Christmas quiz with the highest scores achieved by 8TWO (Mr Rodgers’ group) at Starkholmes and Mr Platt’s Y10 PRS group at Lumsdale.

Poppy Appeal

During November poppies were on sale in school for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. The total raised through the fundraising tins was just under £150.

Thank you to students and staff who purchased a poppy to help the British Legion continue their vital welfare and benevolent work.
