Sports Leaders News Mrs Allen (School Sports Co-ordinator)

Our sports leaders are usually extremely busy supporting sporting activities not only in school, but also within our partner primary schools and across the wider community. This year for the start of the year initially we are looking at alternative ways for our sports leaders to work and we will let you know how we get on.

Further information on sports leadership can be found on the school website: http://www.highfields.derbyshire.sch.uk/SportsLeadership.html

Youth Sport Trust update YST ‘Active in Mind’ project

Monday 28 September saw the launch of the YST project ‘Active in Mind’. This is Highfields’ second year involved in this project.

The project will be slightly different in its delivery for this academic year due to Covid-19 bubble restrictions. Our year 11 sports leaders will act as mentors to a group of year 7s and deliver the programme through digital resources and virtual events, with Mr Molyneux as lead.

Our current year 13 sports leaders were amazing with their involvement as mentors (under the supervision of Mr Molyneux) to a group of year 7 and 8 boys last year, and we look forward to the achievements we can make this year.

Mrs Allen also took part in the YST premium schools network event on 1 October.

Sports leaders update

Our year 12 level 3 sports leaders were in action today (Friday 2 October) filming leading sessions that will be sent to our feeder primary schools to take part in the challenges.

This is all part of the digital practical leading that Sports Leaders UK allow for the new Covid-friendly specifications. Full details to follow
