If you haven’t tried the new safari style Zoofari ride at the N.C. zoo, there is still time. The ride closes for the season on October, 31. Zoofari is a newly added African Wildlife Adventure. Get a new perspective and close-up views unlike from the walking paths outside the exhibits at the zoo. You can climb aboard a specially outfitted, open-air vehicle for an exclusive tour INSIDE the 37-acre Watani Grassland exhibit! An experienced zookeeper will introduce you to the nine exhibited species—nearly 100 animals! Discover rhinoceroses, gazelles, greater kudus, ostriches and many exotic antelope. Participants may even get a special view of the elephants! Tickets for the Zoofari attraction are only sold in Junction Plaza, starting at 9:30 a.m. Seating is first-come, first-served, so you should arrive early to purchase your tickets and ensure your seats. The tours last 45 minutes to one hour. Zoofari is weather dependent and tickets are in addition
6
to Zoo admission. Zoofari cost is $20 per person (under 2 free on adult guardian’s lap). The ride is bumpy and not suitable for pregnant women. You can get more information on this and other fun new attractions at the zoo at www.nczoo.org/ Before Zoofari, visitors could look into the 38-acre exhibit, where the animals are free to co-mingle, from several overlooks, and if the animals were congregating on the far side of the enclosure, guests had to drop a quarter into a scope to get a closer look. Now, they can pass through a new gate, board an open-air bus with a canvas roof and proceed slowly onto the rutted dirt road that before could only be used by zoo keepers, veterinarians and maintenance staff. It’s possible to get close enough to see the grain of a gazelle’s fur or the wrinkles on a rhino. Have an established business in the Triad? Movie Review Ice Age - Collision Course - The movie was great! It was nice that Buck, the weasel had returned. It was also funny that Scrat was still trying to get that nut in outer space and caused all of the meteor troubles on earth. This Ice Age was very different from the other Ice Age Movies, because it included meteors and a UFO. It was very exciting. Definitely worth seeing again and worth buying the DVD.
