Plan a Girls’ Day Out With Family or Friends! Have you ever left a gathering with family or friends and felt like you didn’t connect? A few years ago, after a holiday dinner, I told my husband that though I enjoyed myself, I didn’t feel connected. Everyone busied themselves with the meal, but there was little time left to enjoy one another... And this is how Girls’ Day Out was born! Members of my family live in different cities, are different ages, and all have very busy schedules. Aside from holidays, months would go by in-between the time I got to see my sisters and the other girls in the family. Without effort, one month can slip into the next, and before you know, it a year will have gone by!

Paula Shumaker O’Donnell writes “Monday Motivation” for businesses, individuals, and publications such as We now plan an annual Girls’ Day Out and make it fun with a different “Guideposts Magazine,” theme each year. Some themes we’ve done in the past are: Kindness “Mysterious Ways,” Campaign Challenge Day; a limousine ride, lunch, and a shopping trip; “Angels on Earth,” and “Woman’s World.” a family photo day where we took crazy photos, and each person got a Visit her website at family photo with a few family stories; and recently, we had brunch and theworldneedsyou.com an afternoon pottery party where we each made a keepsake. or email This has been so much fun that I now schedule Girls’ Day Out or Girls’ mycoachpaula@aol.com

Night Out with my friends, too. One group has been meeting for over 25 years on the 3rd Thursday of the month for dinner. Another group has done painting parties and kindness campaigns with fun pictures taken along the way. Why don’t you plan a Girls’ Day Out with friends or family?

If you are in the same city, Saturday brunches or dinners out once-a-month are a great way to stay connected. Adding an activity whenever possible just enhances the fun. So…get out your calendars today – and make plans now to connect with those you love!

Big Momma’s is an amazing space at 217 E. Commercial Street in Springfield where you can grab a fresh-made scone, delicious soup and sandwich, or a custom cup of coffee! Big Momma’s is a place where a relaxed atmosphere allows you to take an often-needed break from the pace of life... and what’s better than also getting a little shopping in!?! At the Lipstick, Lattes and LuLaRoe event, you can spend some much-needed downtime alone or with friends while checking out LuLaRoe clothing from 8 alternating independent distributors and trying out SeneGence skincare and

cosmetics. We are mothers, wives, daughters... We are business women who love helping you to feel even more confident and beautiful, whether that is by wearing a figure-flattering LuLaRoe top with amazing, leggings that “feel like buttah” or wearing SeneGence makeup that provides anti-aging benefits and can last you your entire day! How to Avoid a Courtroom Fashion Disaster by Kim Bath Today’s society no longer seems to adhere to the same standards of dress that were once common in venues such as churches and courthouses. The court system has always had a certain elevated standard of decorum, especially when it comes to appropriate dress. However, in recent years, there seems to have been a marked lack of respect for the courtroom in this sense, and some courts have been reprimanding those who defy their longstanding model of dress. When preparing for a court appearance, one may wish to keep their clothing choices on the conservative side. No one should have to buy a new wardrobe for court, but a little good judgment and fashion-conscious caution can go a long way to insure that the person standing in front of the judge is taken seriously in the courtroom. DON’T: Unless the court attendee is actually trying to make a bad impression, stillettos, fishnets, tube tops, sleeveless t-shirts, bodycon/ bandage dresses, “distressed” clothing, and, sometimes, denim are extremely poor choices. Stained, torn, overly wrinkled, or dirty clothing should be avoided at all costs. As a general rule, anything that someone would wear to a night club should be avoided. If in doubt, don’t wear it. Also, hygiene makes a difference – messy hair, untrimmed facial hair, body odor, and flashy makeup can dimish any good clothing choice in an instant. DO: Conservative clothing should show less skin and ostentation, and more simplicity and modesty. Necklines should never dip too low

and shirt length should be long enough to tuck in. Men should wear buttoned shirts, if possible, whether it be a typical button-down, polo, or Henley style. Women should wear proportionate dress pants, skirts, and dresses, with hem lines that fall around the knee or longer. Men would be wise to select a pair of dress pants or khaki pants. Once again, hygiene is a must – brush and/or style hair, trim facial hair, shower, and keep makeup simple and light. These guidelines should never bar anyone from expressing a personal sense of style, however. Accessorizing is an easy way to show a little “bling” and fashion sense without being inappropriate. The blandest of clothing can be transformed into a chic ensemble with the addition of a statement necklace for a woman or a tasteful novelty tie for a man. Conservative does not have to equate to boring. If you find yourself in the position of having to attend court, remember these tips in order to avoid the embarrassment of becoming a courtroom fashion disaster.

How a Health Coach Can Help You Reach Your Goals Evidence shows that traditional methods of health teaching don’t work well, but health coaching improves outcomes. Health coaching is a rather new concept which began due to this observation. Traditional teaching essentially directs information at you. Health coaches, on the other hand, help you discover your true health concerns and desired changes, exploring the reasons why you may be uncertain about making the behavior changes which will positively impact your health. Our focus is on YOU, the ealth client, your coaches... goals, and your agenda! help you Health discover your true coaches help health concerns you identify and desired the support changes... systems available to you that will help you achieve behavior changes, and ultimately your health goals. You must be an active participant in your own health care. Behavior change comes from you, making you the true change agent. You will find the most success when you are the one leading your life and setting your goals, not someone else. Health coaches are acredited, certified professionals who use clinical evidencebased practice interventions, your condition, and medical history to safely guide goal setting, health teaching, and give medical advice as the need arises. A qualified health coach is your health accountability partner. Are you tired of being overweight, worn- out, and disheartened?
