It dawned on me as I was putting together the April pages that our readers probably have no idea how much effort goes into making Kids Directory a reality each month. So, I thought I’d take this space over the next few months to introduce you to our awesome team. I’ll start with Kathy T. and Danielle; they were part of the original team under the leadership of Kathy and Rob Fridge, the founding publishers of Kids Directory. Kathy T. manages the enormous task of keeping SpringfieldKids.com updated and fresh. She delivers the directory in Ozark and Nixa and is our part-time graphic designer. Danielle is the queen of “Kids Eat Free” and the calendar of events. She calls KEF restaurants every month to confirm, update, and remove listings. She manages the online calendar, researching events and entering information into the website to help you plan activities for your bigs and littles. She compiles two pages of events for the printed magazine and delivers two-thirds of the magazines distributed in Springfield. These two women are dynamos, and I’m blessed to have them on my team! |

Cub Creek Science Camp has more than 300 animals including lemurs, foxes, porcupines, wallabies, parrots, sloths, and lizards in a hands-on, interactive zoo. When you hear “Science Camp,” don’t think it’s all about classrooms and books. Cub Creek is about friendship, fun, curiosity, guided learning, building self-confidence, learning problem solving skills, and creating memories to last a lifetime. Campers choose two week-long activity courses and two daily classes from 100 engaging options to round out their days. Each day is balanced with a little open time, evening activities, and options for those who are “early birds” and “night owls.” See ad on page 25.
Zoo. Classes and camps at Dickerson Park Zoo introduce children from tots to teens to science, nature, conservation, geography, and, of course, animals! With the world as a classroom, Dickerson Park Zoo’s camps and classes instill a lifelong love of learning, as well as demonstrate how everyone can help protect and care for animals. If you know a young person interested in science, art, crafts, exploring, wild adventures, animals, and more then check out what’s happening at Dickerson Park Zoo. See ad on page 17.
