Refrigerator Notes In this issue.. This month, I’m taking a lighter turn with Refrigerator Notes. My assistant Angela and I are cat moms to sassy black cats. Anyone involved in cat rescue or fostering will tell you black cats are often treated poorly because of superstition. But we LOVE our little panthers. I sought out my black cat, Jax, because I had a black cat as a child and have always wanted another one. He came to our Jax family from Watching Over Whiskers feline rescue. Angela’s Safire was one of a litter of barn cats, and Safire chose Angela’s son rather than the other Safire way around. These two have BIG personalities. They talk a lot and demand attention. Jax can be a jerk at times; he intentionally knocks things off shelves. But, they have their sweet moments, too. It’s not unusual for Jax to be on my desk while I work. In fact, as I designed this issue, Jax napped most of the day on my desk. Aug. 17 is National Black Cat Appreciation Day. In their opinion, it’s a holiday to be celebrated evey day. |
