Here are my top 5 cake trends for 2017 that will give your wedding cake its wow factor! 1. NAKED. Your cake doesn’t have to be coated in thick frosting and fondant to be beautiful and delicious. With its extreme versatility, weddings of all themes, sizes, and budgets can pull off one of these minimalist masterpieces. Remember that “less is more” and don’t be afraid to go beautifully bare! 2. MARBLED. Marbled cakes are all the rage for brides wanting a unique yet sophisticated look. One of the biggest topics of conversation always seems to be CAKE! Here are some recent questions we have heard from our brides about the “sweetest” part of your wedding. Q: How can I save money on my wedding cake? There are lots of options for the budget friendly bride who wants to save on her cake. For example did you know Publix and even Sam's Club offer 2 to 3 tier options? Both have several different options and can customize colors and even have some great rustic designs, which has been a trend with our brides for years now with no end in sight. For up to 60 guests a 3 tier is typically under $100!!! Q: Are cupcakes okay for a formal reception? Cupcakes are a great option for any reception! You can create beautiful displays for your guests to enjoy and bonus....cupcakes are easy grab and go. Did you know most vendors charge to cut and slice your cake? So cupcakes can even save money as well! Q: My groom and I both hate cake - what are fun alternatives? So many options! Remember it's YOUR day. Just because your cousin had cake at her wedding doesn't mean you have to! Donuts, pies, and cookies are all great options. You could even just do a mixed dessert table. Ice cream sundae buffets are also a recent trend and a guest favorite! So regardless of whether it's chocolate or vanilla, cupcakes or a 5 tier cake....it’s your day and your guests will love your choice and it will be the icing on the day!
