There is nothing better than a transition from summer to fall here in Arkansas. From the color change of the Natural State's landscape to not having to deal with pesky insects, it is a wonderful time. One thing to do while you're outside and enjoying the weather is to pay attention to your gutters. Every fall, after all the leaves have dropped, it is a good idea to inspect your gutter system. Leaves, twigs and other debris can easily build up over several months. This build up can cause minor to severe damage to your home without proper annual maintenance. Clogged gutters can lead to roof damage, siding damage, moisture damage, foundation issues as well as effecting the longevity of the gutter itself. Also, clogged gutters can create a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects. If you find debris build up in your gutter system you will need to schedule some time to manually clear out the guttering system or hire your local handy man. If you decide to “DIY” make sure to have the following: A ladder – Your ladder should be tall enough for you to reach the gutters without standing on the last few steps/rungs. Your ladder should be sturdy and easy to secure.

Gloves – Make sure to wear a proper pair of safety gloves. You will want to use gloves that have strong material but are flexible enough for you to reach the difficult places in your gutters, helping to maintain your gutters and your home! 4

Garbage Disposal The most common issues that occur with garbage disposals can seem like the "End of Days" for kitchen life, but may (possibly) be fixed with the simple push of a HIDDEN button!
What is it doing/not doing? Humming - Something has lodged
the blade. Turn off power, then use a wet/dry vac hose to remove glass, bones, other small objects. Do not put hands into disposal. Use a 1/4 inch Allen wrench (aka hex wrench) at the bottom center hole to ensure the blade turns freely.
Nothing - Check for power at the breakers, then check the garbage disposal thermal reset switch. Under
Leaking - If water is coming from
the drain pipes, you may be able to check loose connections and tighten as needed. If water is coming out of the holes from the bottom of the unit, you've got an internal leak. You'll find replacing the disposal necessary at that point. A home with working fixtures is easier to enjoy and once less thing to worry about with home inspections when you sell your home.
