We’ll continue to Gullfoss waterfall and the geothermal area of Geysir. After dinner, we’ll end the day with Northern light gazing.
The Northern Lights
The northern lights are an incredible phenomenon to witness! A clear and dark sky, with no clouds, is essential to be able to spot the aurora.
Of course, it does just come down to a bit of luck with the weather, but best to plan around staying as many nights as possible outside the city.
Staying away from any light pollution, gives you the chance of spotting the northern lights, in this case from right outside your accommodation (if conditions are favourable of course!
We visit the south coast today, starting by sneaking behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Next up is the powerful Skógafoss waterfall, before walking along the turbulent but stunning Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. As we start to drive back towards Reykjavík in the afternoon, we’ll make sure to stop off for a nice walk to an incredible viewpoint of the Sólheimajökull glacier. We’ll be back in Reykjavík in time for dinner.
