Books to Ballet: The Ugly Duckling

Join Hickory Ballet & Performing Arts for a story time from Hans Christian Anderson’s work, The Ugly Duckling. Dancers will perform, tell the story, and invite you to try out your own moves, learning that even though we may move differently, we can feel confident in our own skin.

Let’s Talk About It: Juneteenth

Learn about the history of Juneteenth before attending one of the many celebrations happening all across Catawba County! Members of the Hickory NAACP will show Ted Talk videos and lead a meaningful, community focused conversation about Juneteenth. Catawba County Juneteenth 2024 will occur from May 19 – June 19.

Star Wars Mystery Game

Embark on an intergalactic adventure as you race to solve a Star Wars Mystery! Starting May 1st, participants can pick up an envelope during Open Lab hours in The Learning Lab. Each envelope contains an assigned character, game rules, and clues. Once you have cracked the clues, present your evidence to a Learning Lab Staff Member during Open Lab hours to claim a small prize.
