What jungle animal would you be?

I would be a cheetah because every cheetah has unique spots just like I have a unique personality.

--Abby Hendrickson I would be a giant mystical parrot because I like to draw attention to myself, and giant mystical parrots have amazing abilities such as I. --William Burken If would be a panther because I’m cunning and quick.

--Grace Burken I would be a chameleon because I can easily adapt to many situations, but sometimes you can’t find me because I’m shy and am probably reading.

--Cynthia Wolf I’m a poisonous dart frog because I’m beautiful, and you don’t want to mess with me.

-- Colin Klatt I would be a butterfly because I can’t stay in one place for too long.

--Katerinne Turcotte I would want to be an elephant because they are just so cute and basically run the jungle because they are so large.

--Sydney Brustkern

I would be a chameleon because they look cool, and they kind of just mind their own business. They don’t disturb other animals. I feel like chameleons are really wise too. They observe a lot and they don’t get caught because of their camouflage.

--Meron Abebe I would be a gecko because I would want to sell insurance to all the other animals.

--Clint Boevers I’d definitely would want to be a sloth because all they do is sleep and eat. Plus, they’re adorable but feisty when need be.

--Joel Ochoa I would be an otter. I know they don’t live in the jungle, but they look really beautiful when they swim, and they hold hands with other otters when they sleep, and I love that.

-Clare Rolinger I would want to be a monkey. They are so agile, and I think it would be really cool to swing from tree to tree.

-Lucas Gillett I would be a monkey because I could just swing around and hang out in the trees all day.

Take these popular moves to dance floor on Saturday

Our View

This homecoming season, be sure to make wise choices As homecoming week draws to a close, the Hi-Line staff would like to remind the students to make responsible, conscious decisions over the weekend.

Opportunities to act irresponsibly will likely be very prevalent for us in the next few days — especially in regards to underage drinking. We advise that you do everything you can to celebrate homecoming in an abstinent way. Nearly 60 percent of teen deaths in car accidents are alchohol related. If you drink, you pose the risk of seriously hurting both yourself and others. At no time is this a good decision to make.

While high school is a time to try new things, we must remember not to let our peers pressure us into doing things that are unsafe or unethical. Before acting, we need to think of how our actions will affect the reputation of our school, our friends, and ourselves.

Have a safe weekend, and if you find yourself in trouble, do not be afraid to ask for help. Take care of yourself and your peers. Push your fellow classmates to make mindful decisions and represent your school and community in a way that would make you proud.

The “Fist Pump”

Make sure to raise the fist above the head, as not to punch fellow dancer. Now move your fist up and down over and over again until the song ends or your arm becomes too tired to be lifted above your head. This is a timeless dance move that will forever be used to show off arm muscles.

Anime fans can expect no breaks between the latest installments of “Hunter x Hunter,” and the latest Yo-Kai Watch game should arrive stateside by Dec. 12.

‘Psychic Spiders,’ ‘Hunter x Hunter’ headline upcoming gaming, anime news There is a constant updating community for anime and gaming. In only a few months, gamers can receive many updates for when certain things will be released and confirmations of other things. Some of these confirmations have opened doors for many theories.

First, in the gaming community we have two big releases coming up in the next few weeks. The closest release is this Friday, which is “Yokai Watch Psychic Spectors.”

Next after that is “Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions” coming out Oct. 6.

This game is a re-release of the first game in the Mario and Luigi series, but with some things changed and updated to fit the 3ds graphics and with an all new side to the story.

Next, up is the anime community. For one, the writer of the “Hunter x Hunter” manga will not be taking a super long break this time, or so he says.

This writer is known for writing a

chapter or two, three max, and then taking months to sometimes years off, so the fact he is claiming he won’t take a long break this time is huge.

Next is in a recent “Pokemon” episode, Ash’s original friends, Brock and Misty, returned. This is huge because we all thought the company had forgotten about them in favor of Ash meeting new friends, so this shows that the “Pokemon” company is willing to bring back old characters.

Finally, the “Sword Art Online” movie, known as “Ordinal Scale,” is coming out on BluRay on the 26th in Japan and Dec. 12 for us here in America.

The reason Japan was mentioned first is because in case some people look it up and find the release date is the 26th, I wanted to clarify that the was the Japanese release, not the American release.

Finally on to theories, and there are not a lot currently. For “Pokemon,” people are theo-

rizing Serena, the female who traveled with Ash in the Kalos region, will return in the Sun and Moon anime.

While this is doubtable, it could be possible. Considering Brock, who has been gone for six seasons or more, came back, nothing is impossible now.

Second is with “Sword Art Online.” A lot of people think a third season is coming. A manga series has been discovered in Japanese products, so we’re hoping because it’s in manga form, it’ll become a third anime season soon.

With a constant updating community, it’s hard to keep up with everything these two communities are up to. However, if you approach these updates in smaller sections, it’s quite easy to approach them.

An example is to only focus on updates for Nintendo games, and to only focus on updates for one, two animes max.

Tigers aim to dominate homecoming

Friday night lights are upon us as Gillett and his teammates are ready to take the field against the 3-3, Cedar Rapids Washington Lions.

“We’re all football smart, very experienced players. We get along really well and have good team chemistry,” starting quarterback Luke Gillett said.

This week, Gillett said, the team worked on sharpening up, running the same plays in order to secure a win and fixing up the little mistakes.

“We don’t want to switch up a lot, and Washington is a good team. We don’t want to be out there not knowing what we’re doing.”

Due to a knee injury last season, Gillett was out after the fourth game of the season and did not play in the homecoming game last year against West.

Gillett said his knee is feeling great, and he has not had any issues with it and is ready to play in this game.

“I’m excited. A lot of people will be watching this game, and

it’s a good opponent to play against. It’ll be a fun night.”

There are a lot of things to be learned, gained and shared through playing football growing up. One thing that Gillett said he has taken away and will keep with him is the friendships that he has made throughout the years.

“I’ve made a lot of friendships within playing football.

Some people I would’ve never been friends with, and I’m making friends with people that I’ll have for life, so that is pretty cool.”

Gillett said it is a great thing

to see when many of his friends are getting opportunities at the next level, after high school.

“It’s exciting. I’m sure, after high school, we’ll run into each other whether being on the same team or against each other.”

This team is physical, smart and athletic. A lot of this comes from leadership and voices on the field from seniors Austin Smiley, Colin Klatt and junior Jack Campbell.

A good friend of Gillett’s and one of the many leaders on the football field, defensive end and fullback Klatt said the feeling of playing under the lights every Friday night is unreal.

“I have experienced a lot of games in the Dome, but I still get goosebumps and a rush of adrenaline every time I step on that turf as the garage door opens,” Klatt said.

In order to prepare for this homecoming game, Klatt said he and other players follow the coach’s plan each day.

“Your first year doing anything is difficult, so my family has been very gracious. I have a 1 year old named Eliza who I love spending time with. Balancing my responsibilities is tricky, but I have a

great team,” he said.

Engels said it is fortunate to have a challenging home course for the team’s invitational tournament.

“Beaver Hills here in Cedar Falls is the best course, in my opinion. This course is in great

mentally prepare each day and on game days. He prays as a pregame ritual.

“Football for me personally has taught me a bunch of life lessons. It showed me that if you work hard for something, you can have it.”

Both seniors agree that the season has been going well — being 4-1, the only loss to one of the top teams in the state, Iowa City West.

Klatt and Gillett also agreed that the pressure may be on for this homecoming game. Klatt said that there is more pressure from themselves in order to prove dominance in the district.

“It’s a bad feeling after a loss, especially after homecoming. It’s better to be on the dance floor after a win,” Gillett said.

Fans can support for the boys playing under the lights this homecoming game by wearing purple in honor of suicide prevention and awareness.

New head golf coach leads team to State

The men’s golf team is ranked 5th in the state under Kenton Engels, who is in his first year as head coach, after service as an assistant coach since 2012. He is also the instructional technology coach for the high school.

“The season so far has been great,” Engels said. In addition to their state ranking, they won their division of the conference by a combined 23 strokes, tied for 1st in their invitational tournament and had four players make the all conference list.

“Lots of great individual and team achievements so far this year,” Engels said.

Engels started his golfing career just like his players have. “I played golf competitively in high school. Our team qualified for the 1A state tournament twice while I was a member. Coincidentally or not, the year after I left, the team won the 1A state title. I did not play golf competitively in college but continued to play and get better,” he said.

In stepping up to head coach, Engels has had to balance his family life with lots of practice time on courses and travels with the team to other

condition and offers a true test of a player’s game. It is a great way to see where your game stacks up, plus it offers lots of exciting holes,” Engels said.

Cedar Falls’ biggest competition is the Marshalltown team.

“Currently, Marshalltown is No. 1 in the state. We have not had the chance to compete on the same course as them, but that will change when we host Districts on Oct. 3. I like our chances,” Engels said.

The team will see their top rival again on Marshalltown’s course Oct. 6-7 for the statewide meet.

Engels said he enjoys coaching golf because it is a sport that his players can do for the rest of their lives. He also said he thinks it teaches lifelong lessons, too.

“Golf is not a game of perfect. It’s what you decide to do with the imperfections that determine your round, which I think is also a pretty solid metaphor for life in general,” he said.

Britney Sires Powderpuff Did you play powder puff last year?

Yes, I played powder puff last year.

What were some team goals?

The main goal we had this year as a team was to have fun while beating the juniors.

Favorite moment during the game?

The competition I faced on the line was difficult toward the center and got easier once you got wider. I was able to get around the offensive line easier than most because I was quick.

Describe the impact the student section had on the teams I think the student section was a really great support system, and it was fun to hear them cheer.

Do you hope this tradition lives on?

I hope this tradition lives on because it’s always something I looked forward to when the new school year was starting up.
