Tara Board of Directors
Over the last couple of months your Tara board has been working closely with Hampton Golf to find a new General Manager for our Tara community. As you may have seen in a recent email to the club, we are pleased to announce that Mr. David Taylor will represent Tara Golf and Country Club as our new General Manager and begin his exciting journey with the Tara family on October 7th.
Your board is looking forward to working with David and making sure that he has all the resources needed to be successful. Let’s first start by giving him a warm welcome into our amazing community!
We would like to thank Greg Nesbitt for being our Interim General Manager and helping the Tara community get through this transition period.
The vacant lot development is underway as we now have the final sight plan approval from manatee county. We have secured Millers Coastline Construction to be our general contractor and Welch tennis to build the pickleball courts. We anticipate this project will take 6-7 months to complete.
Other improvements to our amenities include the renovation of the three restrooms at the front of the clubhouse, the repair of the irrigation system at the front of the club, and the expansion of the V and VI tee boxes on holes 8 and 18. Future improvements will include the beautification of the clubhouse grounds as well as updating and a refresh of our clubhouse.
The 2025 annual budget is being prepared and the BOD will be holding a budget and reserve for replacement workshop on Friday October 18th at 9am, zoom will be available.
If any Class A Member would like to participate in the Annual Interim Member (AIM) program, please return your application that was emailed to you to the Tara office no later than October 21st. Applications can also be found in the Administration office.
I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.
TARA’S MISSION: The mission of Tara Golf & Country Club is to provide an exceptional private country club experience while maintaining the club’s reputation as a financially sound and highly valued community where Members enjoy outstanding golf, vibrant amenities and social camaraderie.
MESSAGE
FROM
DAVID TAYLOR, GENERAL MANAGER dtaylor@taragcc.com
Dear Members of Tara Golf and Country Club,
I hope this message finds you well. It is both a privilege and an honor to introduce myself as the new General Manager of your wonderful club and community. My name is David Taylor, and I am excited to begin this journey with all of you starting Monday, October 7th.
From the moment I accepted this role, I’ve been looking forward to meeting each of you, learning more about your vibrant community, and understanding what makes Tara Golf and Country Club so special. I know there may be many questions about who I am and how I’ve come to join this incredible Team, so let me take a moment to share a bit about myself.
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where my love for sports - and in particular, golf - began. Growing up as a baseball player, I also spent countless hours on the golf course with my father. After high school, I pursued a baseball scholarship to Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Upon graduating, I found myself working in the financial sector, primarily in investments, but golf continued to be a constant passion in my life.
Like many who share a love for the game, I had the chance to chase my dream of playing professional golf for a few years. Though I eventually transitioned out of playing professionally, I was fortunate enough to turn my passion into a career that has spanned many years. My professional journey began on the golf side of the industry, but I’ve been fortunate to spend much of my career in leadership roles, including as a General Manager. My first leadership role began at The Club at Hidden Creek in Navarre, Florida and then I transitioned into a career with ClubCorp. I was fortunate to have led East Lake Woodlands and Hunters Green Country Clubs during my tenure with the company.
For the past seven years, I have had the pleasure of serving as the General Manager at Bradenton Country Club, where we were able to achieve a great deal together. Now, I look forward with excitement to this new chapter at Tara Golf and Country Club, where I am eager to build upon the traditions and experiences that make this community so special.
On a personal note, I’ve been happily married for 14 years to my wife, Sarah. We are blessed with three wonderful children - Marley (11), Dylan (8), and Zoey (5). Much of my free time is spent enjoying their activities, which range from golf and cheerleading to even horseback riding. When I do find a bit of time to myself, I still love getting out on the golf course, and I truly look forward to the opportunity to play alongside many of you.
I can’t wait to meet each of you in the coming weeks and months. Together, we will continue to build on the strong sense of community that defines
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS:
John & Ruth Hmelnicky – Golf
Allan & Angelica Abelson – Golf
Michelle Bradley – Golf IN DEEPEST SYMPATHY: Roy Ford | Patricia Richards
Our TARA family is keeping the loved ones in our thoughts & prayers.

Dear Ladies of Tara Golf and Country Club,
Tara offers three different Ladies Golf Associations to cater to a variety of playing levels and preferences.
1. Tara Women’s Golf Association (TWGA): This association plays 18 holes every Tuesday and offers the option to choose from various tee boxes (5,6, or combo) to suit your skill level. A World Handicap Index of 38.4 or less is required.
2. Tara Niners: If you prefer a shorter game, the Tara Niners play 9 holes (from combo or 7 tee boxes) every Thursday
3. Tara Scarletts: Another great option for 9-hole play if you simply want to get out and play. The Scarletts is a non-handicap league ideal for those new to golf or getting started again. The Tara Scarletts also play on Thursdays and offer flexibility with tee box choices. Sign up sheets are located on the board in the ladies locker room.
We believe that our ladies Golf Associations are a fantastic way to enjoy golfing and make new friends. We encourage you to explore these options and take full advantage of what Tara has to offer. As a bonus, it also ensures you have a guaranteed weekly tee time. You can also belong to both the TWGA and Niners!
Opening Day for Scarletts, TWGA, and the Niners, is most always in October.
For more detailed information and how to get involved (including applications to join TWGA or the Niners), please visit the Tara Website under the “Golf” section or contact either the Golf Shop or one of the undersigned.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on the course!

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE
SUPERINTENDENT
941.751.5593 | dabell@taragcc.com
It is the time of the year when the golf course is busy from sunrise to sunset. Cart traffic is one of the toughest challenges the golf course faces this time of year. Golf cart traffic patterns start to appear because of the carts going over the same area. The wear and tear of golf cart traffic can cause unsightly and expensive damage to the golf course. Tire ruts in soft, wet areas can take weeks to heal. Compaction caused by heavy traffic can cause tight lies. The Members can help prevent damage by following the course’s standard golf cart policy and obeying temporary restrictions caused by weather, construction or other factors. The following are a general list of tips that if followed, will greatly help in keeping our golf course in top playing condition.
• Pay attention to any ropes, stakes or signs because they are signaling that the area should not be driven on.
• Never drive a golf car through standing water or turf areas that appears overly wet.
• Never drive onto a green, collar, tee, par three holes or any marked hazard.
• Avoid abrupt stops and sharp turns that could cause skidding.
• Avoid driving over sprinkler heads, yardage markers and drain basins.
• Avoid pulling off the path near tees and greens.
• Keep all four tires on the path whenever possible and do not park with the tires off of the cart path.
• Everyone can help minimize the amount of wear from heavy traffic by entering and exiting at the green and white posts.

Dear Tara Residents,
It’s always nice to announce good news! The TMA Traffic Task Force subcommittee was successful in gaining approval from the Manatee County Public Works Department to reduce the speed limit from 30 to 25 mph on all streets within the TGCC, which does not include Tara Blvd. A big thanks to the committee for their efforts to make our community safer. More details regarding the installation of speed limit signs will be forthcoming.
The next announcement: Tara Master Association is terminating its contract with Resource Property Management (RPM) and beginning a new contract with Condominium Associates (CA) in November. RPM has been our property management company for 12 years, and we thank them for their efforts during this time. The TMA Board of Directors felt it was important to choose a new company that has a deeper understanding of a community our size, and we believe Condominium Associates will fill that need. In the coming weeks, you will receive information from CA as we will need to change our banking information and payment options (although we are staying with Popular Bank). We realize change can be challenging and ask for your patience during the transition.
Sincerely,
Kim Loskota
President Tara Master Association

Did you know that Tara has a Hole-n-One Club? Don’t lose out on a pocket full of SWEEPS for golf shop purchases!
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS AND HOW TO JOIN:
Contact Jill at jorologio@taragcc.com or see her in the Administration Office to let her know you want to join in on the fun! That’s all it takes and you’re now a member of the club.
HERE HOW IT WORKS:
1. Each time a member of the club gets a Hole-n-One he or she is declared a WINNER and ALL Hole-n-One Club members will be charged 4.50 to their member account.
2. Members of this exclusive club then have one week from the day of publicly posting the winner’s name in the Grill Room to redeem a beverage of choice.
3. The number of club members who do not redeem their beverage from the Grill Room within the designated week get tallied up.
4. We then multiply the $4.50 by the number of those who did NOT indulge in a beverage from the Grill Room.
5. That cash balance is then awarded to the WINNER’S ACCOUNT in forms of SWEEPS for purchases in the golf shop.
Winnings have been anywhere between $400- $850+ in SWEEPS (not redeemable for cash).
Don’t Miss Out – Join Now!
Greetings Members! The House Committee has been extremely busy at the clubhouse getting it ready for all Members to enjoy and we’re looking forward to our snowbirds returning as well.
The front bathroom remodel continues with new flooring, fixtures and a fresh new makeover with an estimated completion date of October 6th. Please continue to use the two bathrooms located at the far end of the dining room until this project has been complete.
Be on the lookout for the unveiling of new lunch and dinner menus in mid-September. Also, on October 12th, November 2nd, and November 30th, we are introducing a grilling station of hot dogs and hamburgers by the snack shack. Golfers may pre-order from the course. Grilling will be available between 11am - 3pm. Grab your meal and head to the clubhouse for fun, fellowship, and football.
House, Social, and Fitness & Rec Committees have purchased 4 all-weather high-top tables for the corners of the bocce court. Bring your drinks from the clubhouse and watch Bocce while socializing around these comfy tables.
