TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

MESSAGE FROM PHILLIP PARSH,

The summer months are behind us, I am looking forward to the busy season and the return of our up north friends and neighbors.

This past summer has been challenging with three major storms that affected the Tara community. The most recent hurricane Milton was a direct hit and caused significant damage to our amenities. However, we should feel very fortunate that the damage was not worse, the eye of Milton passed directly over our community. Management has stepped up and worked together and put a plan together to get all our amenities open. Our insurance will kick in to help with the costs and our insurance deductible fund will also help to fund the repairs and clean up.

Your Tara board has worked closely with management and the finance committee to develop the 2025 annual budget. Your board is making sure that management is as efficient as possible when maintaining and operating the various areas of our club. We are very aware of the importance of keeping our costs manageable and being sure that Tara offers value second to none.

The Annual Interim Membership Program has been extended for 2025 with your board approving 25 Memberships. This program brings in a significant amount of revenue that helps keep the owners’ costs reasonable.

I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

TARA’S MISSION: The mission of Tara Golf & Country Club is to provide an exceptional private country club experience while maintaining the club’s reputation as a financially sound and highly valued community where Members enjoy outstanding golf, vibrant amenities and social camaraderie.

TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

MESSAGE FROM DAVID TAYLOR,

Dear Tara Golf and Country Club Members,

I want to thank all of you for the warm welcome you gave me and my family in the first 30 days at your club. It was not exactly what I had in mind with Hurricane Milton hitting my first week, but we are stronger for it.

As we take a moment to reflect on the challenges we’ve faced, we remain hopeful that we can put Hurricane Milton behind us and focus on the good times ahead at Tara Country Club. Together, we can emerge stronger, ready to embrace the upcoming holiday season and all the joy it brings. Let’s recap some of the hurdles our club and community have overcome from that devasting storm.

Hurricane Milton Impact Summary:

• We lost nearly 50 trees on the golf course, which will require some time for recovery, but we are committed to restoring its beauty.

• The golf course maintenance building sustained some damage, but our team is working diligently to address the repairs.

• Our clubhouse roof has experienced damage, resulting in some water intrusion inside; rest assured, we prioritized its restoration.

• The pool awning had a middle arm break, but we’re already on top of repairs to ensure it’s ready for your enjoyment.

Through these challenges, Tara remains the phenomenal club you all cherish. Our spirit and community are what make this place special, and we’re excited to welcome you and your loved ones to our Grand Thanksgiving Buffet. This event is not just about good food and company; it’s about celebrating resilience and coming together as a community.

We can’t wait for the season to kick off! So, let’s look forward to the laughter, the memories, and the joy that lies ahead.

Respectfully,

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS: Michelle & Parker Bradley – Golf | 6503 Stone River Road

BALL MARK REPAIR

Ball marks are those indentations on the green caused when a ball lands sharply on the green. Par three greens typically have the most ball marks due to the shorter irons that are hit into the green. Please repair your ball marks before you make your putt. An unrepaired ball mark may take two to three weeks to heal, leaving behind unsightly and uneven putting surfaces. On the other hand, a ball mark repaired correctly may take half the time to heal. There is really not much to fixing a ball mark the correct way, but there are a few guide lines you need to follow when making these repairs. You need a ball repair tool, knife, or even a tee. You want to insert your tool at the edges of the ball mark, and not in the middle. You will want to gently bring the edges toward the center with a slight twisting motion, be careful not to lift the center tearing the grass. Once you have the indentation repaired, gently tap the mark with your foot or the bottom of your putter face. When you are done, there should be a surface that you yourself would want to putt over. Beginner or pro, it is your responsibility as a golfer to fix your own ball marks. If you are a real steward of the game, then you will fix any other ball marks you see while waiting for your partners to putt out.

TARA MASTERS COMMUNICATION

MESSAGE FROM KIM LOSKOTA, PRESIDENT

Dear Tara Residents,

Hurricane Milton showed its force in our neighborhood!

As a community, we had various levels of destruction with trees down, lots of plant debris, fence blown over, lights knocked off their brick base, etc. The Tara Master Association has assessed all the damage for which it is responsible, and our landscape contractor has already started the process of cleaning up the areas that we manage. Some of the replacement of items will take time whether it’s due to waiting for contractors or obtaining the supplies we need.

The hurricane also meant the continuing mediation meeting regarding the proposed apartment complex on Stone River Road and Tara Blvd was canceled, with no new date scheduled yet. As we learn more, announcements will be shared with the community.

Homeowners will begin to receive new information from Condominium Associates, our new association management company, as we transition to them on November 1st. Please read your emails for important news to help make the transition smoother.

As a community, we continue to work through whatever comes our way and keep Tara a beautiful place to live!

Sincerely,

TARA MASTERS COMMUNICATION

MESSAGE FROM DEB MAZZAFERRO, TMA DIRECTOR

The Tara Master Association (TMA) Landscape Committee is offering monthly workshops to educate the Tara community about Florida gardening principles, including native Florida plants and the Tara protocols for specific neighborhoods. At each meeting we leverage experts from the county, state, and local organizations to save you money and ensure your gardening success.

These seminars are open to all of Tara, which includes the Golf and Country Club (TGCC) and Tara Preserve residents.

Topic: Bees, their Benefits and Providing a Bee Friendly Garden

Speaker: Joyce Fassbender, Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation

Date: November 24, 2024

Time: 4 - 5:30pm

Location: Tara Preserves Community Center

RSVP: https://forms.gle/eng7GkGkW9dDE8BN8

From Karen Cardozo, TMA Landscaping Chair | Irrigation System Update:

“For those of you who sustained damage to your homes from Hurricane Milton, I’m truly sorry and I hope your repair efforts go smoothly.

Fortunately, the hurricane didn’t seem to cause any major damage to our community’s landscaping. Our landscaping vendor completed the storm debris cleanup at our entrance and along Tara Blvd a few days after the storm.

Our next step is to determine the extent of damage to any trees, plants & flowers and develop an action plan for addressing any issues.

We ask that you please be patient as this will take some time - especially since we expect to encounter supply issues as we are one of numerous communities in Florida that will need landscaping materials.

Over time, our community’s beautiful landscaping will be restored - we are Tara Strong!”

Did you know that Tara has a Hole-n-One Club? Don’t lose out on a pocket full of SWEEPS for golf shop purchases!

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS AND HOW TO JOIN:

Contact Jill at jorologio@taragcc.com or see her in the Administration Office to let her know you want to join in on the fun! That’s all it takes and you’re now a member of the club.

HERE HOW IT WORKS:

1. Each time a Member of the club gets a Hole-n-One he or she is declared a WINNER and ALL Hole-n-One Club Members will be charged 4.50 to their Member account.

2. Members of this exclusive club then have one week from the day of publicly posting the winner’s name in the Grill Room to redeem a beverage of choice.

3. The number of club Members who do not redeem their beverage from the Grill Room within the designated week get tallied up.

4. We then multiply the $4.50 by the number of those who did NOT indulge in a beverage from the Grill Room.

5. That cash balance is then awarded to the WINNER’S ACCOUNT in forms of SWEEPS for purchases in the golf shop. Winnings have been anywhere between $400- $850+ in SWEEPS (not redeemable for cash).
