MESSAGE FROM PHILLIP PARSH, PRESIDENT
Tara Board of Directors
Our annual Member meeting was held on April 1st congratulations to Cindy Fergusen on her re-election and congratulations to our new Board Member Randy Watson. Special thanks to Dave Whitehead and Sally Shuford for their many years of service to our community. Our community has put together a very talented group of individuals and we look forward to leading Tara into the future. Many thanks to the election committee for ensuring the integrity of our voting process. Maureen Gee, Sue Sackman and Pat Burgess worked many hours, and the community would like to thank them and their team for their time and efforts.
The vacant lot development was unanimously approved by our Members and is moving forward. Stay tuned to periodic updates as this new development moves forward. Our busy season has wound down and I look forward to seeing everyone back in the fall. I would like to thank everyone for there support in my new role as Tara Board President, it is my goal to lead and unify the board which will be the first step in unifying the Tara community.
TARA’S MISSION: To provide outstanding service to enhance the lives of our Members and Guests with a variety of social opportunities in a friendly, connected atmosphere.
MESSAGE FROM TIM SCHAEFER, GENERAL MANAGER

Another wonderful high season has ended at Tara. The leagues, tournaments, and daily play on the golf course brought electricity to the whole club! The special events, filled-to-capacity dinners, and entertainment kept the dining and grille rooms hopping! The swimming pool, bocce courts, and tennis courts were the place for friends and family to enjoy the pristine Southwest Florida weather. We truly are blessed to call Tara our home!
Congratulations to Randy Watson, our newly elected board member, and Cindy Ferguson, our re-elected board member. They have taken on quite a responsibility to serve on the Tara Board for the next three years. I also want to thank Sally Shuford and Dave Whitehead for volunteering to make that pledge. These four and the rest of the Board exhibit extreme engagement with our club and community.
While recognizing those committed to the club’s present and future, I want to congratulate Phil Parsh on being chosen President of the Board of Directors. Cindy Ferguson, Mike Rohrkemper, and Mary Bailey have also been picked as Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary, in that order.
As I author this article, the various committee chairs and Members are chosen, and their schedules are formed. What a wonderful way to contribute your expertise and knowledge to keep Tara moving forward. I have marveled at the insights and ideas expressed during the committee meetings I have attended over the last year. The various voices bring forth a collaboration that pushes us forward in ways that produce optimum results.
This club would not be a community if everyone did not do their part. I highlight all of you who treat the club amenities with the same care as you do your possessions in your home. I commend all of you who interact with your fellow Tara Members and Tara employees with respect and goodwill. I recognize all of you who report the individuals who are not complying with the rules and regulations that this community abides by. Tara is a wonderful community because we all do our part.
While the summer runs at a more modest pace at Tara, several special events and ongoing activities are planned to keep the clubhouse and golf course humming in May. I wish our friends and neighbors traveling back north for the summer safe travels.
Keep Enjoying Life!

Happy summer! Reciprocals have started, hopefully you all have your Tara ID Cards. If not, please make an appointment with Jill so she can get those cards ready for your summer reciprocal experiences. Friendly reminder, reciprocal courses will ask for those cards. If you do not provide one when going, they can charge the higher rates. Please make sure you are prepared when you go to the other courses. Many of these courses have stated that they will not allow coolers to be brought while golfing, so please be aware.
It has come to our attention that some smokers are throwing out their cigar and cigarette butts on the renovated golf course. PLEASE be respectful of your course and remind those to put the fully extinguished butts in a trash bin or throw away once you have reached a restroom area. Burns in the turf make it difficult to grow back. Thank you all for your assistance in this.
Summer rains will be here shortly and so is lightning. The lightning alarm is here for your protection. As stated in the Tara directory, when the horn sounds, it is mandatory that you discontinue golf play, range play, swimming, tennis and bocce play. Seek shelter immediately and only return when the all clear sounds. This system is automatic and will sound when lightning hits

Evapotranspiration is the net loss of water caused by the combined effects of atmospheric conditions. The Evapotranspiration rate is a very important tool for precision irrigation practices because it is the calculation of air temperature, solar radiation, wind speed, humidity, barometric pressure and dew point for a 24 hour period. With the renovation of the irrigation system, a weather station was also installed to be able to calculate the Evapotranspiration rate that is specific to our golf course. This information is recorded every hour and then sent to the central irrigation computer where the values are then calculated to get the Evapotranspiration rate for that 24 hour period to irrigate only what the turf needs. The benefits of using evapotranspiration in conjunction with the irrigation system are: water conservation, improves quality and health of the turf, reduces compaction and weed population and provides a deeper root system.
The weather station is a very good tool to provide the Evapotranspiration rate to properly irrigate the golf course. However, daily monitoring of the golf course is still the best because of the constant change in conditions. The golf course will be closed May 13th – 15th for the first aerification of the year.
