Your board of directors has been very busy, all nine committees have been organized for this season and are making plans to ensure the Tara community is moving forward with some exciting new upgrades. A general contractor has been chosen for the vacant lot development and the new pickleball amenity is moving closer to reality. I anticipate that the new amenity will be complete in the first quarter of 2025. We understand that this has been a very slow process and would like to thank our members for their patience.
We are in the process of upgrading the irrigation system at the front of the clubhouse. This is the first step in the beautification of the clubhouse grounds. The House committee is also working on and planning to have the clubhouse restrooms updated, as well as the clubhouse front doors replaced. These three projects will be paid for out of our reserve account. A plan is being developed for the clubhouse to be refreshed and updated. This project is slated to start the summer of 2025. I will continue to update the Tara community on these and any other projects around the club.
I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.
Summer is upon us! As several of our Members have traveled north during this time of year, the club has adopted our normal summer hours, effective June 1st. As a reminder we will be closing our food and beverage earlier on Saturday evening to match our Monday hours. The snack bar/concession stand will be closing at 3pm each day for the Summer.
I wanted to thank everyone for their patience as we worked to resolve the pool issues we experienced in early May. A contributor to our chemical imbalance ended up being three leaks that have been repaired. A special thank you to Donna Bowdoin for her expertise in helping us work through to the remedy. Brett Allen and Frankie Diaz, our maintenance team, have attended a pool maintenance class to gain greater knowledge in this area. We are working to become less dependent on our outside vendors in this area.
As we plan our summer maintenance projects, we will continue to focus on safety for our Members and personnel. We look forward to working with our House Committee as they look to address the front doors of the clubhouse. We have added another defibrillator and hired an outside vendor to inspect and stock all our defibrillators on a quarterly basis. We have also hired a contractor to repair the piping and concrete by the southwest corner of the clubhouse.
I would like to introduce Nicole Byrnes, who is our new Administrative Assistant. Nicole is from Rochester, NY and relocated to Sarasota in 2021. She most recently worked for a national property management firm, so she has experience and knowledge in homeowners and condominium associations. Nicole enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, music, and is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.
As a reminder, please call Brashella Keys of Hampton Golf at 1-904-6049216 if you have any billing or payment questions or concerns. She will be happy to help you!
Enjoy your summer!

Happy summer all! As the summer heat and drought is still happening, we are reminding you to please make sure all cigarette and cigar butts are properly disposed of. This could potentially create a large issue if one of these catches fire on the course with the dryness.
Using the bathrooms: With respect to all the owners that live on property and have a great view of the course, we remind you to use the restrooms at all times while playing golf. Stop after 9 or 18 (if making the turn) to use the many available facilities at the clubhouse. Bring your fobs for easy access to the bathrooms at the pool.
UPCOMING CLOSURE OF THE COURSE REMINDER: July 8th – 14th the golf course will be closed for the second aerification of the season. The pro shop will be open from 7:00 – 2:00 daily during that week. If you would like to visit one of the many reciprocals, please call or visit the golf shop and we

Aerification is a mechanical process which causes a short term disruption, but has long term benefits for turfgrass on the golf course. Aerification relieves soil compaction, removes thatch and creates pore space for air to get to the root zone. In fact, the condition of a green has a lot to do with what goes on below the surface. In order for grass to grow at a 1/8 inch, it must have deep healthy roots. Good roots demand oxygen. In good soil, roots get the oxygen from tiny pockets of air trapped between soil and sand particles. Overtime, the traffic from golfers and regular maintenance tends to compact the soil under the putting green. When this soil becomes compacted, the air pockets are severely reduced which in turn keeps the roots from growing. Without oxygen, the grass plants become weaker and will be unable to survive.
Remember, aerification is one of the most important cultural practices that we do to the golf course to relieve compaction. This process will help keep the golf course in the best possible condition throughout the year.
The following is the aerification schedule for the summer of 2024:
• July 8th – July 14th Second aerification, Fairway Verticut
• September 9th – 11th Final aerification

BOCCE BALL LEAGUE 2023-2024
What a great season we had for the Tara 2023-2024 Fall/Winter Bocce Ball League. From November 2023-March 2024 we had 24 teams playing with upwards of 225 people involved, for 15 weeks, one night a week. Standings were sent out each week and the playoffs, which started on March 12 were made up of the top placed 8 teams.
BALL KNOCKERS – PETE BLADES – CAPTAIN – 25 POINTS
THE BOCCERS – DON MCINTYRE – CAPTAIN – 22 POINTS
THE STONE RIVER POSSE – SUSIE WOLFF – CAPTAIN – 22 POINTS
AMACI – LOU SPIZZIRRO – CAPTAIN – 21 POINTS
THE BIG LABOCCE – DAVID CARTWRIGHT – CAPTAIN 21 POINTS
MISSION IMBOCCEBALL – JOHN HMELNICKY – CAPTAIN – 21 POINTS
ROGUE ROLLERS – BOB COUGHLIN – CAPTAIN – 21 POINTS
VILLAGE PEOPLE – JUDY GERMAIN – CAPTAIN – 19 POINTS
On Thursday March 28, the final Playoff match of the Tara Bocce ball league for the Fall and Winter season was played at 4:00. The Village People won in a playoff against The Big Labocce. During the finals each team won one game so there was a one end roll off to break the tie. It was a very close game.
It was great to see so many people coming out to support this final match. After the game there were 154 people registered to go inside for a burgers, sausage and salads buffet dinner where the Bocce Championship trophy was presented. What a great way to end the 2023-2024 Bocce season.
Rosmarie BuxbaumMay was another fun month at the club! I hope all of our seasonal friends got home safely. Thanks to all the members that donated to our food drive for the Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee County, we donated approximately 6 barrels of food for those in our community that are food insecure. WE continue to make a positive impact in our community! As we enter summer our Friday Happy Hour entertainment schedule goes to every other week; check the Social calendar so you don’t miss out. Make sure to make reservations for the Rye Road band on June 8, they are a super band that will not disappoint. As we plan another great year of fun please email any recommendations for entertainment as we will be booking in late June. For planning we wanted to let everyone know that there will not be an Arts & Crafts Market this year.
