TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

MESSAGE FROM PHILLIP

Summer has arrived and with-it warm temperatures. The summer rains have started, which is good news for our golf course. This spring was very dry with rain fall well below average.

I would like to thank the Community Affairs Team consisting of property owners from both the Preserve and Tara communities. They put together opposition to the proposed apartment complex that was being considered by the Manatee County Commissioners. The Commissioners voted against the complex which is an important win for the Tara and Preserve communities. This shows how important it is for us to work together to ensure the future of Tara.

There are projects that are being planned around the club, the new front doors, the remodel of our clubhouse restrooms, as well as the repair of the front of the club irrigation system are planned to be completed this summer.

Look for the Hampton evaluation and Long-Range Plan surveys that are being sent out to our owners this month and I would encourage everyone to take the time to participate in the surveys. Your input is much needed so we can make proper decisions for driving the future of Tara.

I would like to thank everyone for their continued support.

TARA’S MISSION: The mission of Tara Golf & Country Club is to provide an exceptional private country club experience while maintaining the club’s reputation as a financially sound and highly valued community where Members enjoy outstanding golf, vibrant amenities and social camaraderie.

TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

I hope that y’all are enjoying your Summer!

July 4th marks our great nation’s Declaration of Independence from Great Britain. We hope that you can celebrate the holiday with us at the Naughty & Nice 4th of July golf tournament /luncheon celebration.

As a reminder, the golf course will be closed July 8th through 14th . Aerification will be performed during this time. The golf course will resume normal activity on July 15th. The Clubhouse will also be closed July 8th through 20th. We will be performing our annual maintenance and deepcleaning projects. Please mark your calendars as there will be no lunch, dinner or bar service during this time. Pool and Concessions will, however, remain available for your enjoyment during those dates.

I wanted to highlight the training and awards that our on-site staff have earned recently. Amanda Ewert, Jill Orologio, and Don Abell were awarded The Orender Service Award. They were recognized for delivering an experience “beyond customer expectations. Their exceptional customer service skills are what sets Hampton Golf apart”.

Missy Williams was elected President of the SW Chapter of the PGA. Missy also obtained 1st Tee level I Teacher Certification. Missy continues to climb to the top of her profession.

Nathan Weber, on his way to PGA Class A professional designation, passed level II training and has attended level III workshops. Nathan is well on his way to this prestigious recognition.

Morgan Buechner attended the Summer Conference for the Florida CMAA towards her credentials for CCM designation. Morgan has such a bright future in front of her.

Our entire front-of-house management and staff participated in Alcohol Compliance Training. This is valuable knowledge for our bartenders, servers, expos, and hostess team members.

Brett Allen studied and passed the test to earn a Certified Pool Operator license. Brett has dedicated himself to making the pool his special area of expertise.

I’m very proud to relay the growth and accomplishments of the on-site Hampton team members who strive to make your experiences truly memorable.

As a reminder to our members, As of March 2024, the Accounting team has been re-located off-site. Please call Brashella Keys of Hampton Golf at 1-904-604-9216 if you have any billing or payment questions or concerns. She will be happy to help you!

TARA GOLF HAPPENINGS

TARA COURSE HAPPENINGS

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE

941.751.5593 | dabell@taragcc.com

The first aerification of the year was a success. The greens, tees, fairways and rough were aerified with hallow tines in order relieve soil compaction and remove thatch. 5/8 inch tines were used on the greens and 3/4 inch tines were used on the tees, fairways and rough. The aerification created pore spaces which allowed oxygen to get to the root zone. Remember, in order to grow good grass it must have deep healthy roots and getting oxygen into the root zone will relieve soil compaction and create new pore spaces for the roots of the plant to grow. The second aerification of the year will happen on July 8th. In addition to the aerification, we will verticut the fairways in order to remove thatch. By removing the thatch this will allow water, air and nutrients to reach the root zone and this will produce healthy turf in the fairways. These cultural practices keep the golf course in the best possible condition throughout the year.

The following is the aerification schedule for the summer of 2024:

• July 8th – July 14th Second aerification, Fairway Verticut

• September 9th – 11th Final aerification
