MESSAGE FROM DAVID TAYLOR, GENERAL MANAGER dtaylor@taragcc.com
Dear Tara Golf and Country Club Members,
As we embrace the beauty of the holiday season, I hope this message finds you surrounded by warmth, joy, and the spirit of togetherness. Our recent Thanksgiving buffet and to-go options were a resounding success, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who participated. Your enthusiasm and support truly make our community special.
We hope you are enjoying our new Wine Down Wednesday and Saturday Gameday Bites with complimentary snacks while supplies last. These types of events are to help welcome everyone back from the Summer as well as bring the Membership together for the Holiday Season.
A highlight of November was undoubtedly the Westbound and Down Band. The energy and camaraderie they brought to our club were infectious, reminding us of the joy that live music can bring to our lives. It’s experiences like these that enrich our time together, and I’m excited to announce that we will be hosting more events like this as we continue through the season.
I also want to take a moment to express a big thank you from the entire Team for your generous contributions to the Employee Holiday Fund. Your kindness and support mean so much, and they enable us to create a joyful and festive atmosphere for everyone. It’s your generosity that makes our community feel like family.
Looking ahead, I invite you all to our much-anticipated Christmas Eve Brunch. This event has become a cherished tradition at Tara Golf and Country Club, and I encourage you to make your reservations early. With a delicious spread and festive atmosphere, this brunch promises to be a wonderful way to celebrate with family and friends.
As we gather together this season, let’s reflect on the joy and gratitude we share. Here’s to celebrating our community, making new memories, and fostering the connections that make Tara Golf and Country Club a truly special place.
Wishing you all a joyous holiday season filled with peace, love, and laughter.

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE
SUPERINTENDENT

Golf course maintenance will over seed the Tee’s and the driving range tee starting on December 10th . The reasons Tara over seeds these areas is that the rye grass is a cool season grass that will not go dormant during the cold months and also it can handle the wear traffic from all of the golfers. The tees get so much foot traffic in season the Bermuda grass would become worn down very quickly and get thin. The rye grass will remain actively growing and stay green during the winter months. The process actually starts a couple of weeks before the seed is put on the course. On November 26th , a pre-emergent herbicide is applied around every tee with drop spreaders to help prevent rye grass from germinating outside the target zone. The rye seed will be applied, fertilized and watered heavy for the first 10 days. Once the seed is germinated, mowing will take place to encourage the growth of the rye grass. This process is tedious but when the rye grass has germinated the results are impressive. When standing on the tee the golfer can see a distinct line between the over seeded tee and the rough due to the pre-emergent application. The whole overseed process is used to enhance the aesthetics of the golf course as well as the playability during the cold winter months for the golfer. Enjoy this year’s overseed! On November 26th the course will be closed in the afternoon for a wall to wall fertilization, verticut and topdress and pre-emergent application.

Tara Master Association (TMA) is now managed by Condominium Associates.
Residents should understand the hierarchy of our community. Imagine the TMA as an umbrella over the Tara Golf and Country Club and the Preserve.
The Tara Master Association is your volunteer board that manages several aspects:
• We collect an annual assessment that covers:
• Cable and internet service which we negotiate,
• Maintain the main entrance at SR70 and Tara Blvd’s landscaping, lighting and irrigation,
• Manage the streetlights on Tara Blvd from SR70 to Tara Preserve Lane,
• Insurance,
• Defend against issues that negatively impact our community like speeding and the proposed apartments.
• Condominium Associates manages the following:
• Pay our bills,
• Negotiate contracts like insurance, storm clean-up, contractors, etc.
• Sends out announcements via email and mail,
• Manages questions from homeowners,
• Assists the board with a review of all our reserves and budget so we stay fiscally healthy.
These are the highlights of our association. We also have great committees that assist the board with maintaining the quality and beauty of our community.
Happy holidays to all our residents!
Sincerely,
Kim Loskota
President
Tara Master Association
The Tara Master Association (TMA) Landscape Committee is offering monthly workshops to educate the Tara community about Florida gardening principles, including native Florida plants and the Tara protocols for specific neighborhoods. At each meeting we leverage experts from the county, state, and local organizations to save you money and ensure your gardening success.
These seminars are open to all of Tara, which includes the Golf and Country Club (TGCC) and Tara Preserve residents. Whether or not you manage a landscape, these seminars bring a wealth of knowledge about our natural environment. We hope to inform you about the possibilities available to us collectively and individually to enhance our community and improve property values by managing wetlands, pests and beauty. Please attend to learn more about Florida’s unique eco-system.

From Karen Cardozo, TMA Landscaping Chair: “Happy Holidays!
As we all continue to recover from the effects of Hurricane Milton, your TMA Landscape Committee remains committed to working with our landscaping vendor to have them complete some clean up activity (weeding & small debris pick up along Tara Blvd) and prioritize actions focused on restoring our property. In late November through early December, you will start to see some results of our efforts - colorful Sunpatiens will be planted in the flowerbeds at the front entrance & exit, as well as around the tree rings in the medians. In addition, some of the plants in the medians that were impacted by the hurricane’s strong winds will be replaced and the entire property will be mulched.
The TMA Landscape Committee is also responsible for the holiday lights at the front entrance & exit and we are currently working with our vendor to schedule installation.”

Did you know that Tara has a Hole-n-One Club? Don’t lose out on a pocket full of SWEEPS for golf shop purchases!
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS AND HOW TO JOIN:
Contact Jill at jorologio@taragcc.com or see her in the Administration Office to let her know you want to join in on the fun! That’s all it takes and you’re now a member of the club.
HERE HOW IT WORKS:
1. Each time a Member of the club gets a Hole-n-One he or she is declared a WINNER and ALL Hole-n-One Club Members will be charged 4.50 to their Member account.
2. Members of this exclusive club then have one week from the day of publicly posting the winner’s name in the Grill Room to redeem a beverage of choice.
3. The number of club Members who do not redeem their beverage from the Grill Room within the designated week get tallied up.
4. We then multiply the $4.50 by the number of those who did NOT indulge in a beverage from the Grill Room.
5. That cash balance is then awarded to the WINNER’S ACCOUNT in forms of SWEEPS for purchases in the golf shop.
Winnings have been anywhere between $400- $850+ in SWEEPS (not redeemable for cash).
Don’t Miss Out – Join Now!
Did you know Tara has a shoe cleaning station along the short wall by the cart barn?
After your game of golf, clean yourself up by pulling the trigger on the compressed air shoe cleaner. Blowing off all the grass clippings makes for a cleaner you! No grass being dragged into the car or the club house!

Our fundraising for Answer to Cancer SRQ was met with tremendous generosity. The “Make it Pink” Friday’s and the golf outing raised $14,034.38! What an amazing contribution we have made. Thank you to all that participated in the events and planned this years efforts. A special thanks to Patti Isenberg, Laurie Cagle, Jane O’Tain, John Bourjaily and the crew that planned the golf outing. Everyone had a great time for a wonderful cause. Please see the email below that we received for our donation.
We hosted the fall fashion show to a sold-out crowd with a Janet Carr Pop-Up Boutique to shop for clothing and accessories. We were able to donate $1235 to Oneco Elementary! Their Assistant Principal Maria Lehman was a model at the show and also keynote speaker where she shared with the attendees the needs of the students at Oneco. The willingness to give to our community to make an impact to better the lives of people around us is so impressive. We should all be proud to be a part of TGCC!
December is a busy month for all of us at the club and with family and friends. Don’t miss out on the annual Christmas Cart parade on Friday, December 13. Line up in the clubhouse parking lot by 4:45 and we will depart at 5:00 sharp. Details of the parade route have been emailed to members (it is the same as last year).
Just a heads up to mark your calendars for our two big shows in January and February. January 18 and 19 is Almost Abba (an Abba tribute band, music from the movie Mama Mia) and February 7 and 8 The Britins will return for a tribute concert to the Beatles. More details will be release approximately one month prior to the event.

Thanks to partners like you, we are making significant strides towards better understanding and ultimately overcoming the challenges of this disease. Your support not only provides crucial funding for this work but also sends a message of solidarity and hope to the entire breast cancer community.
We look forward to keeping you updated on the progress of our project and the impact that your support is helping to create. Thank you once again for joining us in this fight and for helping us take steps closer to a cure.
We are humbled by your generous support, Eileen Cantarella and Ronni Loundy
Thank you for your generous help supporting our mission to eradicate breast cancer metastasis. Your donation has enabled us to learn more about what causes breast cancer metastasis to arise as well as how differences in patients age significantly affect breast cancer metastasis occurrence. With your support we have already made significant progress towards understanding the effects of aging in breast cancer metastasis, including the identification of a potential novel therapeutic target with high effectiveness in older people. Please consider continuing to support breast cancer research in the future, together we can move towards a world where breast cancer can be cured.
Warm regards, Ana
