TARA’S MISSION: To provide an exceptional private country club experience while maintaining the club’s reputation as a financially sound and highly valued community where members enjoy outstanding golf, vibrant amenities and social camaraderie.
TARA’S VISION: Tara Golf & Country Club will be the most desirable private club in the Sarasota/Bradenton area in terms of value, quality of its golf course, its wide range of amenities and its member-friendly culture.
Tara Board of Directors
I am pleased to report that Tara remains in a strong financial position. We are on track to meet or exceed our 2026 budget projections. At the same time, management, the Finance Committee, and the Board are working together to develop the 2027operating budget. Our goal is to ensure it is both fiscally responsible and continues to meet the needs of our community.
The decision to extend the clubhouse closure was not an easy one, but it was necessary to give our contractors the time and space needed to complete the demolition and cleanup in the lobby area safely and efficiently. Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this project. As the renovations continue to take shape, we are excited to see the transformation.
As a friendly reminder, owners who lease their property are required to notify the Tara office with the length of the lease, as well as current emergency contact information for their tenants. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in helping us keep our records accurate and up to date.
The next regular Board meeting will be held on Monday, September 14th at 3:00 PM.
Thank you for your continued support, involvement, and pride in our community.

MESSAGE FROM DAVID TAYLOR, GENERAL MANAGER dtaylor@taragcc.com
Dear Tara Members,
As we welcome August, I first want to extend a sincere thank you to every member for your patience, flexibility, and understanding during our extended clubhouse closure. We recognize that being without your clubhouse for a few extra days was an inconvenience, and we truly appreciate the positive attitude and support you have shown throughout this process.
While no one enjoys extending a closure, those additional days proved to be incredibly valuable. They allowed our construction team to make significant progress and recover much of the time that had been lost due to unforeseen conditions uncovered during demolition. In renovation projects of this scale, surprises behind walls and above ceilings are sometimes unavoidable, but thanks to the extra time, we’ve been able to make a substantial dent in those delays and put the project back on a much stronger path.
I’m excited to share that we remain on track to open our beautiful new Bar & Grille and expanded patio area in early fall. Every week brings noticeable progress, and it’s exciting to see the vision we’ve all been working toward begin to take shape. From the new gathering spaces to the enhanced dining experience and expanded outdoor seating, these improvements will provide a clubhouse that better serves our membership for many years to come.
This refresh is about much more than new finishes and furnishings— it’s about creating spaces where friendships are strengthened, families gather, celebrations are shared, and lasting memories are made.
Thank you once again for your continued support, encouragement, and patience. We look forward to sharing more updates as we move closer to the finish line and to celebrating this exciting new chapter together.
David Taylor

Membership Has Its Privileges...and Its Responsibilities

Being a member of a private country club is about much more than access to exceptional golf, driving range, putting green, and chipping area. It is an investment in a lifestyle and an experience that is shared with fellow golfing members. Every member contributes to that experience—either positively or negatively.
The rules and regulations established by the Board of Directors are not intended to limit enjoyment; they exist to preserve it. They are designed to protect the quality of the club, maintain the traditions, and ensure that every member receives the experience they have chosen to invest in.
Whether it’s following the dress code, maintaining an appropriate pace of play, observing guest policies, or respecting the club’s facilities, these expectations are in place because they benefit everyone. When one member chooses to ignore them, it affects more than just that individual— it impacts every member who expects and deserves the standards of a private club.
It’s also important to remember that the club’s policies are established by your elected Board of Directors, whose responsibility is to make decisions that serve the best interests of the membership as a whole. While not every rule may be everyone’s favorite, they are created with the long-term success and enjoyment of the club in mind.
When you invite guests to the club, you are extending your membership privileges to them. With that privilege comes the responsibility to ensure your guests understand and follow the same rules and expectations that apply to every member. Their experience—and the experience of those around them—is a reflection of your membership.
· Raking bunkers after use
· Fixing ball marks or imperfections made by another golfer
· Filling divots
· Making sure you can understand the tee time system
· Playing without delay and not holding up the golfers behind you
· Follow cart path rules by not parking carts on grass areas around the tees and greens
Please continue to set the standard by respecting the rules, honoring responsibilities, and taking pride in Tara Golf & Country Club

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE SUPERINTENDENT 941.751.5593 | dabell@taragcc.com
The second aerification of the year was a success. The greens, tees, fairways and rough were aerified with hollow tines in order relieve soil compaction and remove thatch. The greens were aerified with 1/2 inch tines because the greens became too soft from the 5/8 inch tines. The aerification created pore spaces which allowed oxygen to get to the root zone. Remember, in order to grow good grass it must have deep healthy roots and getting oxygen into the root zone will relieve soil compaction and create new pore spaces for the roots of the plant to grow. Also the fairways were verticut to remove excessive thatch. By removing the thatch this will allow water, air and nutrients to reach the root zone and this will produce healthy turf in the fairways. Curfew was applied to the tees and some fairways. This was done to reduce the nematode population so we can grow good grass in these areas. These cultural practices keep the golf course in the best possible condition throughout the year.
The following is the aerification schedule for the rest of the summer.:
· September 8th – 10th: Aerifiy Greens, Tees and Fairways. Apply a preemergent fertilizer to the golf course.

Dear Tara Residents,
The hot and humid days of summer have arrived! We hope you’re finding plenty of ways to stay cool while continuing to enjoy all that our community has to offer.
As we head into August, the TMA remains focused on initiatives that beautify and strengthen our community. Here are some of the key projects we’re working on this month:
A committee has been formed to begin the discussion regarding our Comcast contract that will expire in 2028. This process takes 2 years and we welcome the committee members that will assist with this process.
The Landscape Committee is working with our management company, Resource Property Management, and our electrical company vendor to replace the light pole on Tara Blvd that was damaged in a car accident in late June. It will take time to get this resolved and we ask for your patience as we work through the process.
The committee is working with our vendor, GreenTech, to remove the 26 dead viburnum plants along Tara Blvd. Once drought conditions improve, these will be replaced by GreenTech at no charge.
In addition, the palmetto shrubs along Linger Lodge Road are being trimmed and cleaned up.
Sincerely,
Kim Loskota
President Tara Master Association

Dear Members,
We are excited to provide an update on the ongoing clubhouse renovations. The House Refresh Subcommittee— John Bourjaily, Denise Tomlinson and Diane Blades—recently met with David, Morgan, and the onsite project manager to review progress.
While the project experienced slight delays due to the extensive steel and beam work required in the ceiling, renovations are now moving forward rapidly during the July shutdown. We encourage members to view the update videos posted online by Missy for the latest progress.
For additional information, any member may contact David Taylor, Morgan, or a member of the House Refresh Subcommittee directly.
Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to refresh and modernize the clubhouse for everyone to enjoy.
We are pleased to share that the Queen of Hearts drawing concluded on July 3, 2026, with an enthusiastic crowd filling the Grille Room. Under the direction of David Taylor, numbers were drawn until the Queen of Hearts appeared. After just three drawings, Sharon Viner revealed the winning card and claimed the $7,078 jackpot. Congratulations to Sharon on her exciting win.
A huge thank you to all of the members who supported the drawing.
A full report detailing the club’s proceeds from the drawing will be provided to the Board soon.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the member volunteers who assisted with ticket sales throughout the event: John Bourjaily, David Krasnoff, Harriette Krasnoff, Carol Matthews, Adam Jernigan, Bob O’Tain, Laura Bourjaily, Kim Randolph, Laurie Cagle, Beth Trendt, Denise Tomlinson, and Pam Frost. Your support and dedication helped make this event a success.
We also thank Morgan, David, and our clubhouse staff for their consistent assistance during the many weeks of ticket sales. Their teamwork ensured smooth operations and an enjoyable experience for all participants.
Thank you for showing kindness and respect as we all work together to make our community a truly special place. If you have compliments or concerns you’d like the House Committee to be aware of, please email them to kimkayrandolph@gmail.com.
Your feedback helps us keep improving and ensures every voice is heard.

Member Spotlight – Mark Cooper
Mark Cooper is from Brooklyn, NY. He moved to Tara in July 2001 from Long Island to be closer to his newly married son and daughter-inlaw. He, his wife, and daughter, Nicole, have lived in Ashley Oaks ever since, where they have been part of the community for 25 years. Before retiring, Mark served as a police officer with the Nassau County Police Department, and his commitment to service has continued here at Tara.
Mark has generously contributed his time and leadership across many areas of the community, including:
· Ashley Oaks Board of Directors (2003–2006)
· Tara Board of Directors (2008–2014)
· TMGA Board of Directors (2024–present)
· Challenge Cup Committee (2007–present)
· Golf, Greens, and Finance Committees
· Organizer and coordinator of the Wednesday Men’s Golf Group
· Trivia host
Mark is especially proud of the revitalization of the Tara Men’s Golf Association. Once struggling with low participation and a lack of direction, the TMGA has rebounded under the current board’s leadership and is now thriving, with approximately 230 members. Fellow members particularly appreciate Mark’s dedication to organizing and coordinating the weekly Wednesday golf games.
During his time on the Tara Board of Directors, Mark played an important role in the 2009 club renovation. He recognizes that making decisions in the best interest of the club can be challenging, especially when opinions differ, but he values the opportunity to contribute to Tara’s long-term success.
One of Mark’s favorite memories is his hole-in-one, achieved in December 2009—a moment he still cherishes.
Mark finds great fulfillment in being involved in multiple activities and encourages all members to get engaged, share their ideas, and take part in the vibrant Tara community.
