DAVID TAYLOR, GENERAL MANAGER

As the warmth of spring settles in, we find ourselves in a season of renewal, celebration, and community. April is shaping up to be an exciting month at Tara Golf & Country Club, filled with time-honored traditions, new experiences, and an incredible opportunity to witness world-class golf right here on our course.
A Tradition Unlike Any Other – The Masters at Augusta
For golf enthusiasts, April means one thing—The Masters. It’s the Super Bowl of golf, the most anticipated tournament of the year, and a tradition unlike any other. From the perfectly manicured fairways of Augusta National to the historic Green Jacket ceremony, there’s nothing quite like watching the best players in the world take on Amen Corner in pursuit of golf immortality.
To celebrate Masters Week, keep an eye out for exceptional Mastersthemed food and beverage offerings at the club. Whether you’re craving a classic Pimento Cheese Sandwich, a refreshing Azalea Cocktail, or other Augusta-inspired bites, we’ll be bringing a taste of The Masters right here to Tara. So gather with friends, wear your best Masters green, and enjoy the excitement of golf’s grandest stage.
A Season of Celebration
We are thrilled to invite you to our Grand Easter Buffet, a cherished tradition where families and friends gather to enjoy a spectacular feast prepared by our talented culinary team. From classic Easter favorites to delectable desserts, this is a celebration you won’t want to miss.
Welcoming the Korn Ferry Tour
In a moment of great honor for our club, we are hosting the Korn Ferry Tour’s Lecom Classic Monday Qualifier. Some of the top male professional golfers in the game today will take to our course, battling for a coveted spot in the main event at Lakewood National. This is a fantastic opportunity to witness future PGA Tour stars up close, and we invite members to be part of the excitement. Volunteers are needed to help make this event a success—please get in touch with the Golf Shop if you’d like to be involved.
New Culinary Adventures Await – Fajita Fridays!
We’re always looking for new ways to keep dining at Tara fresh and exciting, and we are delighted to introduce Fajita Fridays! On select Fridays, our restaurant will come alive with the bold flavors of sizzling fajitas, various tapas, and, of course, chips and salsa. Our full regular menu will always be available, ensuring everyone finds something to enjoy.
A Heartfelt Thank You
As the season winds down, we know many of you will soon be heading north for the summer. We want to express our deepest gratitude for another fantastic season at Tara. Your enthusiasm, camaraderie, and love for this club are what make it unique. Whether you stay with us year-round or prepare to return in the fall, know that you are always part of the Tara family.
We look forward to an excellent April and can’t wait to see you at the club!

Happy April! Spring is in the air, bringing with it the perfect golfing weather!
Let’s give our incredible Cart Barn Team Members a BIG SHOUT OUT! They earned the highest marks on the Member survey, highlighting their unwavering dedication and hard work to serve you. Look for their personalized logo, “Triple Tee” (TTT), on their hats—symbols of their commitment!
If you’ve visited the golf shop recently, you’ve seen our new merchandise. Come in, shop, and use your sweeps before heading north to display the Tara logo proudly!
As we embrace summer, we’re excited to transition to a new pointof-sale system, tee time system, and website. Your patience is greatly appreciated as we embark on this journey; we’ll learn and grow together before introducing these enhancements to our Members.
MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE SUPERINTENDENT 941.751.5593 | dabell@taragcc.com
Due to the warmer temperatures, we are seeing insect pressure increase, especially mole crickets. A mole cricket is an insect that burrows in the soil and feeds on grass roots. Mole cricket damage can occur on greens, tees, fairways and rough. Mole cricket damage is evident when the turf is tuft up, and the ground is soft when you stand in these areas. One may also notice dirt mounds or burrows left in the turf. The maintenance staff has already begun a spot treatment program where we will treat the areas as they present themselves. An applicator will mix up lemon-scented Ajax on the greens and flush the mole crickets from the greens.
A certified contractor will apply Chipco Choice on the fairways, tees, and rough once a year on May 14th. Chipco Choice is the leading product on the market for treating mole crickets. Chipco Choice has another benefit because it also treats fire ants. The application of Chipco Choice is critical because it is the best defense against mole crickets, which can destroy a golf course quickly.

Dear Tara Residents,
Where has winter gone? It’s always amazing when April rolls around, and some homeowners think about returning to their second home.
The TMA’s Community Action Committee continues its efforts to have the County deny approval of the proposed apartment complex project at Tara Blvd & Stone River Rd. The next meeting is scheduled for May 8 in front of the Board of County Commissioners, where the developer will request approval of the mediated settlement agreement. We need your participation to show Tara’s strength and express our continued concern about this project and its impact on our community. You’ll see a request in April for your attendance at the meeting, so please mark your calendars now.
The master association has recently made several changes, including 1) choosing a new landscape vendor and 2) installing new street lighting along Tara Boulevard, providing brighter lights and improved safety.
The TMA needs your email address! If homeowners have not yet logged into the Condominium Associates portal https://condo.cincwebaxis.com, please do so. It’s recommended that you add your email address to ensure that you receive the most updated information from the TMA.
Please join us at the April 17th board meeting to keep up to date with TMA activities.
Sincerely,
Kim Loskota
President Tara Master Association
After extensive research, contract negotiations, and interviews, the Landscape Committee Chair, Karen Cardoza, and TMA Board Liaison, Denise Smark, have chosen a new landscape contractor who is proactive about managing our entrance from State Road 70 and along Tara Blvd to Tara Preserve Lane.
Beginning April 1st, GreenTech Landscape Management will start service. We recognize that it will take some time to see noticeable improvements and are excited for GreenTech Landscape Management to begin their work!
If you run into these two volunteers, please express your appreciation for the thorough, professional job they do, representing all of Tara to the larger community.
It’s my honor to work alongside them.
Deb Mazzaferro
TMA Director

Thank you to all the Members who came out and enjoyed the social events our committee worked to plan for you! GREASE music bingo was lots of fun, and there were costumes galore! The stacked meatloaf diner dinner was top-notch (thanks, Chef Joe and crew), and all who attended had fun belting out tunes! There was a sold-out crowd for the St. Patty’s Day Happy Hour with our annual corned beef dinner. Again, thanks, Chef Joe! It’s always so fun to see everyone getting into the spirit of things!

Did you know that Tara has a Hole-n-One Club? Don’t lose out on a pocket full of SWEEPS for golf shop purchases!
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS AND HOW TO JOIN:
Contact Jill at jorologio@taragcc.com or see her in the Administration Office to let her know you want to join in on the fun! That’s all it takes and you’re now a member of the club.
1. Each time a Member of the club gets a Hole-n-One he or she is declared a WINNER and ALL Hole-n-One Club Members will be charged 4.50 to their Member account.
2. Members of this exclusive club then have one week from the day of publicly posting the winner’s name in the Grill Room to redeem a beverage of choice.
3. The number of club Members who do not redeem their beverage from the Grill Room within the designated week get tallied up.
4. We then multiply the $4.50 by the number of those who did NOT indulge in a beverage from the Grill Room.
5. That cash balance is then awarded to the WINNER’S ACCOUNT in forms of SWEEPS for purchases in the golf shop.
Winnings have been anywhere between $400- $850+ in SWEEPS (not redeemable for cash).
Don’t Miss Out – Join Now!
Did you know that Tara is now serving cocktails at the snack bar in addition to cans of beer?
