As I am composing my message for the April newsletter to the Membership, the annual Members meeting will have already been held and results announced at that meeting. For all who voted, I hope your candidate of choice won. For those who voted for the unsuccessful candidates, there is always next year. My congratulations to the victors. May your contribution to the Board be thoughtful and balanced with the future of Tara at the forefront of your decisions. Thank you for volunteering for this difficult and time-consuming position.
In addition to the Directors vote, the package had a proxy included for the approval of the pickle ball courts, bathrooms and pavilion to be constructed on the rezoned vacant lot. The importance of the Tara Club having their own courts is paramount to the continuing growth and modernization of our community. I personally hope this amenity was passed with a ‘yes” vote from our Members.
I have noticed the Club is busier than in past years. Events are selling out quickly thanks to the hard work from our Social Committee. Their event planning has been right on target.
On March 7th, Hampton Golf hosted a town hall meeting. The purpose was to inform Members of their plans and the structure under which they operate. Hampton also took numerous questions addressing the concerns of members. They also dispelled several rumors Members had heard. Hampton asked for patience from the Members. They have only been on site since February and the positive changes at Tara will take place overtime. There is no easy road to success.
To all our Members returning home in April, I wish you a safe and uneventful journey home. Your friends and neighbors will miss you and look forward to your return.

I hope you had a wonderful Easter holiday spent with family and friends!
Easter Sunday Brunch is one of our most cherished dining experiences at the Club. What a wonderful way to end the month of March!
April begins with the Annual Meeting of the Membership and the vote to fill two directors’ positions on the Board. The ballot also includes the Vacant Lot Pickleball ballot. The election is a critical tool for you to help shape Tara Golf & Country Club.
There are several great events planned for April by your Social, Golf, and Fitness & Recreation Committees. Your participation on the golf course, HarTru courts, hardcourts, and/or clubhouse makes for excitement throughout the club and community.
Hopefully, you have had the opportunity to meet our new Executive Assistant, Jill Orologio. Jill recently moved into our area from Rochester, NY where she was employed at Cobblestone Creek Private Golf and Country Club. She has a contagious can-do spirit, making her a terrific addition to our Club. Should you wish or need to reach out to Jill for assistance, she can be reached at 941-756-7775 ext. 1229 or email: jorologio@taragcc.com.
As we continue the administrative and accounting transition to Hampton Golf, any billing and statement inquiries should be made to Brashella Keys. Brashella’s email address is bkeys@hampton.golf. Her phone number is (904) 604-9216. Your patience and support as we transition these duties is greatly appreciated.
Keep enjoying yourselves!

This time of year the Course is very busy with Members and their Guests. Sometimes we have fog, rain or frost. The only time a delay will happen is a frost or lightning. Golfers and all parties are responsible for being at the tee at the proper time. If by change there is a delay and you cannot make your tee time, the groups that are on time are priority. Please make every effort to be at the tee at your tee time, or your group runs the risk of not playing at all. The Golf Shop will make every effort to get you out on the Golf Course, however you must see the Golf Shop to make this happen.
Bathrooms are located at the Clubhouse, at the pool house (bring your fobs), at the Golf Shop, between holes 5 and 6 and between 14 and 15. The trees, woods or other areas are not intended for use. We understand there are sometimes problems we cannot help, however seek an areas that other people cannot see you and make every effort to find a bathroom.
UPCOMING EVENTS:

Due to the warmer temperatures, we are starting to see insect pressure increase, especially mole crickets. A mole cricket is an insect that burrows in the soil and feeds on grass roots. Mole cricket damage can take place on greens, tees, fairways and rough. Mole cricket damage is evident when the turf is tuft up and the ground is soft when you stand in these areas. One may also notice dirt mounds or burrows that are left in the turf. The maintenance staff has already begun a spot treatment program where we will treat the areas as they present themselves. On the greens, an applicator will mix up lemon scented Ajax and flush the mole crickets from the greens.
A certified contractor will apply Chipco Choice on the fairways, tee’s and rough once a year at the May 14th . Chipco Choice is the leading product on the market for the treatment of mole crickets. Chipco Choice has another benefit because it also treats fire ants. The product is applied by being slit into the soil where the mole crickets feeds. Golfers will notice the slits in the turf for a few weeks following the application and these slits will not affect the playability of the golf course. The slits are a normal byproduct of the application and once the turf grows back the slits will not be noticed. The application of Chipco Choice is very important because it is the best defense against mole crickets which can destroy a golf course in a short period of time. On April 16th and 26th the golf course will be closed in the afternoon for verticutting and topressing of the greens.
