SUPERINTENDENT’S CORNER MESSAGE FROM RICK KERR rkerr@hampton.golf As the golf course enters the summer season you can expect to see many changes to our golf course. The transition from rye grass back to Bermuda is well under way. The transition allows us to begin the process of controlling the summer weeds. This year our focus is on goose grass. Areas of yellowing around the course are the first signs of the herbicide applications working to eliminate these weeds. We will be using an array of herbicides targeting specific weed groups throughout the summer. To date we have treated for various weeds and have applied our first goosegrass application. In the upcoming months you will see a reduction of weeds giving the course a cleaner look with improved playability. Thanks to all of you for your patience and support.

RIED’S WRITE MESSAGE FROM BOB RIED bried@hampton.golf Hello Links Club! I hope that everyone’s summer has gotten off to a great start. Our team is working hard to improve the quality of your golfing experience. We have had our share of challenges in the past year, but we have also made some progress in a number of areas. These ebbs and flows will happen and with your continued support we will continue to get better. We have arrived at the summer growing season and I’m sure you have noticed the transition from winter turf (overseed) to summer turf. Rest assured that our maintenance team is doing everything they can to strengthen our turf base. Some adjustments have been made to the golf course to help facilitate this plan. With patience from you and hard work by our team, these adjustments will be temporary for a shorter period of time and enhance those areas. We would like to let everyone know of some exciting golf events coming up over the next couple of months, including the Men’s Match Play Championship, the Red, White and Blue Scramble on July 4th, the Passholder Summer Social and the Labor Day Scramble. Come check out the bulletin boards and watch out for emails for more information on these upcoming events and past results. We have a really good club with great potential for growth. With everyone’s continued support we will continue to move forward and become the facility that we all want this to be. If anyone needs anything my door is always open. Until next time stay safe and we’ll see you at The Links!

FAC I L I T I E S U P DAT E MESSAGE FROM VICTOR GIERACH Hello everyone, Victor here. It’s time for the 3rd edition of The Link. We apologize about the restrooms at the turn. There is a broken pipe in the concrete and trying to formulate a plan to make the necessary repairs as soon as possible. Please use the restrooms in the clubhouse and we apologize for the inconvenience. We have been working on greening up the grass in the front and back of the clubhouse. It seems to have helped and we ask for your cooperation by staying off these areas as much as possible. That’s all for now. Have a SAFE & HAPPY 4th of JULY.

Victor Gierach
