The Orender Service Award was created in honor of the man who founded Hampton Golf, Mr. MG Orender. Back in 1999, MG saw a need in the golf industry for a management company that does more than just manage but provides a level of care, skill, and service that is unmatched. Hampton Golf was therefore established, and the goals and values that started it all in 1999 are the same goals and values we have today. Please congratulate our most recent Orender Service Award recipients listed below!

Deerwood Country Club is excited to celebrate the opening of The Approach, a new executive short course that expands golf opportunities and enhances the Member experience. Complementing Deerwood’s championship 18-hole course, The Approach offers a flexible way to enjoy the game — ideal for quick rounds, shortgame practice, instruction, junior golf, beginners, and creative Member events.
Few private clubs offer both a championship 18-hole course and a dedicated executive short course, making this an amenity combination that sets Deerwood apart in Jacksonville and nationally. The Approach is especially meaningful as a Member-driven concept, brought to life entirely through Member donations — a reflection of Deerwood Members’ pride in their Club and commitment to future generations.
Deerwood will celebrate this milestone with A Summer Gatsby Golf Affair, presented by The Eiras Family, on Saturday, July 11 at 3:30 PM. The grand opening and ribboncutting ceremony will include club leadership, Members, donors, and Guests, along with a special appreciation ceremony honoring those whose contributions made The Approach possible.
The timing is ideal as Deerwood prepares for its championship course renovation: The Approach will keep golf programming, instruction, and social play going strong, while the golf professional team has also arranged access to premier private clubs across North Florida, away games, and trips to keep Members connected.
The Approach represents the best of Deerwood — tradition, innovation, Member commitment, and continued investment in the Club’s future.

Deerwood Country Club Hosts JAX Chamber Annual Trustee Luncheon Featuring Captain Sandy Yawn Deerwood Country Club was honored to host the JAX Chamber Annual Trustee Luncheon featuring Captain Sandy Yawn, star of Bravo’s Below Deck Mediterranean. The event brought together Jacksonville business and community leaders for an engaging fireside chat between JAX Chamber President & CEO Daniel Davis and Captain Sandy. The conversation was filled with humor, leadership lessons, personal stories, and insight from Captain Sandy’s remarkable career navigating challenges both on and off the water. Deerwood was proud to provide the setting for this memorable afternoon of connection, inspiration, and community engagement. MEMBER APPRECIATION

Exciting progress continues on the clubhouse renovation project at Laurel Oak Country Club as we work to modernize and enhance one of the most important gathering spaces on property. The renovation includes significant updates throughout the clubhouse, focused on improving functionality, refreshing key areas, and creating a more welcoming and elevated environment for Members and Guests alike. As construction progresses, the vision for the renovated space continues to take shape. This project represents an important investment in the future of Laurel Oak and reflects our commitment to continually improving our facilities while preserving the character and hospitality that have long defined the club. We are excited to see the transformation unfold and look forward to sharing additional updates as the project moves closer to completion.

The Jones Course renovation continues to make impressive strides as work progresses on several major components of the project. Current efforts are focused on greens and bunker construction, with the installation of USGA-specification greens and a capillary concrete hybrid drainage system throughout the bunkers. These enhancements are designed to improve drainage, promote healthier turf conditions, and provide a more consistent playing surface throughout the year. The attached photos offer a behind-the-scenes look at the construction process and the level of detail involved in bringing the renovated course to life. From shaping and grading to drainage and sod installation, each phase is moving the project closer to completion. The transformation taking place on the Jones Course reflects a commitment to excellence and a dedication to maintaining one of the premier golf facilities in the region. We look forward to sharing more progress as the course continues to take shape.

Stillwater recently hosted its very first wine dinner, and it was a tremendous success! Guests enjoyed an expertly curated five-course dining experience, with each course thoughtfully paired with a wine from the renowned Stags’ Leap Winery. Our talented Culinary Team showcased their creativity and skill through an exceptional menu featuring dishes such as butter-poached Alaskan King Crab atop caramelized Asian pear and a marinated feta schmear on Brioche toast points, finished with a delicate drizzle of Lavender Honey. The evening was a wonderful celebration of fine food, outstanding wines, and memorable company, setting the stage for many more wine dinners to come.

Behind the scenes at Tara Golf & Country Club, their clubhouse renovation continues to take shape, with major structural enhancements and transformative improvements underway. From steel installation to expanded spaces, every step brings the club closer to an elevated experience for Members and Guests.

Let’s celebrate the ladies! June 5th was National Women’s Golf Clinic and our head pro, Missy Williams, led a free, ladies-only chipping demonstration and clinic for our members, with reps from Wesco Turf coming out in support as well.

On June 6th & 7th, Tara played host to the FSGA 40 & Over Championship. The turnout was overwhelming and even though the heat was in full force, all participants enjoyed themselves immensely.

We are incredibly proud to congratulate Missy Williams and Don Abell on their outstanding achievements with the PGA North Florida Southwest Chapter.
Don has been honored as Superintendent of the Year, a well-deserved recognition of his dedication, expertise, and commitment to maintaining exceptional course conditions for our membership.
Missy has received multiple prestigious honors — Golf Professional of the Year, induction into the Hall of Fame, and the Professional Development Award. These accomplishments reflect her leadership, passion for the game, and continuous commitment to growth and excellence.
Both Missy and Don work tirelessly for Tara Golf & Country Club, and this incredible recognition is a testament to their hard work and professionalism. We are truly fortunate to have them on our team.
Please join us in congratulating them on these remarkable achievements!
