The Orender Service Award was created in honor of the man who founded Hampton Golf, Mr. MG Orender. Back in 1999, MG saw a need in the golf industry for a management company that does more than just manage but provides a level of care, skill, and service that is unmatched. Hampton Golf was therefore established, and the goals and values that started it all in 1999 are the same goals and values we have today. Please congratulate our most recent Orender Service Award recipients listed below!

Sherry joined Laurel Oak on June 12, 1995. Her first position was as a Hostess for evening dining, and she also helped during busy lunches and in the banquet department when needed. After a few years, she became the club's Receptionist—and has been the face and voice of Laurel Oak ever since!
Her first “office” was actually the copier room across from the current administration area at the front entrance. During a major club renovation, Sherry sat at a 6-foot banquet table in the hallway until she finally moved into her present space.
In Sherry’s own words: “It has been an enjoyable journey working at Laurel Oak, serving the Members, and working with some super staff over the past 30 years.”
Sherry has been a tremendous asset to the club and, thankfully, she’ll be with us for many years to come. It’s so refreshing to have such a lovely person answering the phones and greeting Members and Guests as the true face of Laurel Oak. There’s nothing better than the personal touch and attentiveness she brings every single day.
Week 1 of Laurel Oak’s Kids Golf Summer Camp teed off with excitement - and a bit of rain! Day 1 brought wet weather, but our coaches quickly adapted with fun golf games inside the clubhouse, along with lessons on rules and course etiquette. The rest of the week was filled with sunshine, skill-building, and smiles. Campers ages 5–14 practiced putting, short-game, and full swing, played games like “TicTac-Toe,” and wrapped up with a mini skills challenge with prizes on the final day. A great start to summer golf, rain or shine!
The club partnered with local stand-up paddleboard company SUP EAST COAST STYLE to host a second Glow & Flow stand-up paddleboard yoga class at the pool. This is the second timethe club brought this unique and memorable experience to our Members in order to enjoy the pool in a new and unique way.
The Laurel Oak Country Club Lifeguard Team completed an intensive American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification program, including a full day of in-person instruction and 16 hours of online coursework. Our commitment is unwavering: to uphold the highest safety standards and ensure our pool remains a secure haven for all Members and Guests. Not only are our two summer lifeguards now fully certified for the next two years, but our Pool Operations Manager also maintains both her Lifeguard Certification and her status as a Certified Lifeguard Instructor and Trainer, ensuring we remain aligned with all best practices set by the American Red Cross. At Laurel Oak, safety is more than a requirement, it’s a standard we lead by.
Chef Richard presented Donovan the Team Member of the Month award for consistently practicing being valuable with his unwavering work ethic. This is his second time being recognized as Team Member of the month.
At the Northland Country Club we are always looking for new ways to excite our Members. So, imagine this: you take a beautiful, marbled, ribeye–already delicious on its own–and then you supercharge it with umami using Koji, the same stuff they use to make miso and soy sauce. You rub it down with the spores, let it hang out for a couple days, and magic happens. Enzymes break down the meat, tenderize it, and boom! You get this insane depth of flavor, like dry-aged funk meets miso-sweetness, but without waiting thirty days. It’s savory, it’s juicy, it’s got that nutty Parmigiano-Reggiano vibe on the crust. It’s meat that tastes like it leveled up through fermentation. Total game changer.
General Manager, Andrew Dailidonis, went golfing at the Verandah Club and ran into Tony Osborn! Tony was formerly employed at The Plantation Golf & Country Club, but recently advanced his career as Head Golf Professional at the Verandah Club.
50-80 Members participate in the Divot Mixer, which is a great social where Members go out on the golf course four times per winter, alternating between 9s twice. They fill divots and fix ball marks, then come in to a happy hour social where there is a cash bar and complimentary appetizers for helping to improve course conditions.
Surrounded by mountain views and fresh air, our resort is your gateway to the great outdoors — with a few extra perks. Join guided nature walks, tee off on scenic fairways, challenge friends to pickleball, or try your hand at archery — all in one unforgettable setting. Summer is calling!
Jim Knierim & Dylan Shook’s recent Member trip to Bandon Dunes was a true golf adventure! Known for its dramatic coastal views and rugged charm, the resort didn’t disappoint. Despite some classic Oregon coast wind, spirits were high and the courses were in incredible shape. From the dramatic dunes of Pacific Dunes to the pure links experience at Bandon Trails, every round was unique—and challenging. The camaraderie, competition, and laughter made for an unforgettable experience.
Sarah comes to us from Tennessee National, where she served as 2nd Assistant Superintendent. She came to us at the end of March and we’re excited to have her on board as our new Assistant Superintendent at Southern Hills. Her passion and experience are a great addition to our Team—welcome, Sarah!
Our Spring Men’s Member-Guest was created in 2023 due to the high demand of our original Fall Member-Guest. This event has taken on a life of its own with a rebranded name “Play Fore the Roses” which is themed after the derby, a new logo, flight colors, etc. The event has become just as popular as our fall event with great weather with a great field.
Our very own Head Golf Professional, qualified for the PGA Championship for the third year in a row! The PGA Championship was hosted from Thursday, May 15th, to Sunday, May 18th, 2025, at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
IT’S OFFICIALLY SUMMER WHEN THE POOL OPENS!
Chef Jon volunteers for local events throughout the year. The Women’s Fund of Central MN proudly hosted the 9th Annual ‘Dancing with Our Stars’ on June 2, welcoming nearly 600 Guests for an unforgettable evening. This year’s competition featured six local celebrities, each paired with a professional dance partner, competing for the chance to win up to $15,000 for a nonprofit organization supporting women and girls. Our very own Chef Jon Skuza took the stage alongside Ashley Green, who danced to raise awareness and support for Open Hearts Home, a nonprofit dedicated to serving pregnant and teenage mothers facing homelessness or housing insecurity. Their incredible effort raised over $15,000 for this vital cause! Behind every performance lies countless hours of planning, rehearsing, and fundraising, making this event a true labor of love. We couldn’t be prouder of all the dancers, but we offer a special round of applause to Ashley and Jon for their outstanding achievement!
Bogey and Double Bogey, have welcomed eaglets—turning their majestic family into the club’s celebrities.
Join us in congratulating our newest STAR Team Members for April and May at Stone Creek Golf Club, Scott Taylor and Jim Boos.
Scott works on the Golf Team and goes about his business in such a professional manner that sometimes he may go unnoticed, but his work certainly makes you aware that he was here. A true Team Member that leaves the next guy set up to succeed.
Jim Boos is a Maintenance Team Member that is always willing to step up and do more. Jim works mowing greens, fairways, and the Bahia rough. In his down time, he is busy helping with extra projects around the maintenance barn.

Brian Kilchenstein, Executive Chef
John Coman, General Manager
Nathan Vaughan, Director of Golf Maintenance
There were 16 4-Person teams competing in a scramble format. The Members were flighted in a net tournament against one another. All teams were competing against the Professional Team in a gross score format. The Professional Team shot a bogey-free 65, losing to 5 of the 16 teams. After play, there was a raffle. The first person called picked their winner for the U.S. Open. Each subsequent pick from the raffle chose their player but could not select any player that had already been picked. This continued until the last raffle ticket was chosen. It made for a fun and interactive postplay activity. We will update the board after the cut is made Friday night, and each day so that the Members can follow along throughout the weekend.
Ladies’ Golf Day was a fantastic success this year, with 10 participants taking part in a complimentary putting clinic led by Missy. A big thank you to WescoTurf for generously providing wonderful gifts for our attendees!
A heartfelt thank you to all our incredible Team Members and Members who joined us for this year’s Team Member Appreciation Luncheon!
It was a wonderful celebration of the hard work, dedication, and exceptional service our Team provides every day.
