HF Holidays was founded by Thomas Arthur Leonard OBE, a country pastor turned social innovator. In the late 19th century, he pioneered walking holidays for factory workers, establishing the Co-operative Holiday Association in 1893 before founding HF Holidays in 1913. Below the summit of Cat Bells in the Lake District, a plaque honours him as the 'Father of the Open-Air Movement.'

To secure your holiday
To confirm your booking, you will need to pay a non-refundable deposit, please refer to our terms and conditions for more information. Once we have received your booking and deposit, we will send a guest confirmation by email. Please check this document carefully to ensure all information is correct, particularly passenger and holiday details, and advise us immediately of any errors. It is essential that the names on your booking match your passports. Any changes after your booking has been made may incur administration fees or operational charges.
Settling your balance
Your balance needs to be settled 6 weeks before departure for holidays at our UK country houses, and 12 weeks before departure for all other holidays. Please refer to your guest confirmation for details.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is mandatory for everyone travelling on our holidays (including UK holidays). Whilst you hopefully won’t have to make a claim, travel insurance is there to protect you if something goes wrong - it can cover you for medical costs should you need treatment abroad; if your flights are delayed and it can cover you if your possessions are stolen whilst travelling. For extra peace of mind, if you need to cancel your holiday before the departure date, cancellation charges are applicable, and you may be able to recoup your losses through your travel insurance (subject to any applicable policy excess).
ATOL & ABTOT protection
All the flights and flight-inclusive holidays in this brochure are financially protected by the ATOL scheme. When you pay you will be supplied with an ATOL Certificate. Please ensure that everything you booked is listed on it. If you choose land only, you will be responsible for making your own travel arrangements, including your flights and airport transfers at your destination.
