Driving the Future of Health
The future of health is being shaped every day across Henry Ford Health through innovation, discovery and unwavering commitment to our patients and communities. I am especially proud of three areas that reflect the breadth of our work: our continued investment in Detroit, our growing national and international leadership in areas like precision medicine and suicide prevention, and the clinical innovations advancing care across our service lines. Together, these highlights show how Henry Ford Health is building healthier communities while bringing leading-edge care to patients here in Michigan and beyond.

Investing in Detroit • In 2026, Henry Ford Health and BAMF Health announced a strategic partnership to establish a Comprehensive Theranostics Center in downtown Detroit. By combining BAMF Health’s global leadership in Theranostics with Henry Ford Health’s century-long legacy of clinical excellence and community-centered care, the partnership will deliver cutting-edge molecular imaging, radiopharmaceutical therapy, and research capabilities to patients across the city, state, and beyond. • In a sweeping community partnership, Henry Ford Health, Tom Gores and the Detroit Pistons, and Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences intend to turn Detroit’s New Center neighborhood into a vibrant, walkable community with state-of-the-art residential, commercial, retail, recreational and health care components. The $3 billion Future of Health: Detroit investment underscores all three partners’ proud history of innovation and community-focused initiatives.
National & International Recognition • Henry Ford Health is blazing the way in the development and growth of Precision Medicine, a wideranging DNA-inspired approach to advance and enhance care in many specialties. We are among a few select health systems in the country chosen to participate in All of Us, a National Institutes of Health Precision Medicine research program. • We are an international leader in suicide prevention. The Zero Suicide® initiative developed at Henry Ford Health has now reached more than 30 countries worldwide. In 2026, the program received a $12 million philanthropic grant that will support efforts to substantially expand services for patients at risk, including introducing more advanced and accessible safety planning support and virtual therapy for patients at mild-to-moderate suicide risk. The team was also chosen to present at the 2026 World Health Organization Assembly.

A Reputation for Excellence Henry Ford Health is recognized for clinical excellence in cancer care, cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, and sports medicine. Additionally, we handle some of the most complex organ transplant cases in the United States.

Transplant • As Michigan’s most comprehensive transplant program, Henry Ford Transplant offers transplantation of the liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine and multivisceral organs, heart, lung, and bone marrow stem cell. The Institute is always on the forefront of transplantation science and performs the most advanced minimally invasive procedures and living organ donations for liver and kidney transplants. Our commitment to quality leads to outcomes that meet or exceed expected survival rates. We use the most effective clinical strategies to increase transplant rates while maintaining superior patient outcomes. • Henry Ford is the only center in Michigan performing intestinal and multiversal transplants. In 2026, we completed the state’s first combined intestinal and kidney transplant.
Cancer • In 2026, we performed a Single-Port (SP) robotic lung cancer resection, the first procedure of its kind in Michigan and one of only a handful performed throughout the country. Unlike the traditional multiport Da Vinci robotic system, the SP platform requires only a single small incision, which translates into less pain, faster recovery, and minimal scarring for patients. The system offers enhanced precision, improved control, and a magnified 3D view – features that enable us to perform complex thoracic procedures with greater dexterity and reduced tissue trauma.
Gastroenterology/Hepatology • The Henry Ford Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy group, in collaboration with Surgical Oncology, has recently incorporated endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)–guided, needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (nCLE) into its standard clinical workflow for the evaluation of pancreatic cystic lesions. This advanced imaging technology is offered by only a few centers nationwide. This group is also participating in an ongoing national multicenter clinical trial (CLIMB study), which seeks to further evaluate the accuracy and safety of this technology and to advance diagnostic strategies for pancreatic cystic lesions nationwide.
Heart & Vascular • In 2026, we performed two innovative procedures in partnership with Henry Ford Vattikuti Urology: • The state’s first multi-organ denervation (MDN) procedure, offering a new option for patients with hard-to-control high blood pressure. This innovative procedure was performed as part of a global study evaluating the procedural and long-term safety of MDN and will help advance treatments for complex cardiovascular conditions. • The U.S.’s second bilateral renal artery denervation procedure for refractory hypotension. We are the first in the world to complete this procedure with the single-port robot using a single positioning to expedite the bilateral procedure. We used an investigational ablation device as part of a trial with six centers. • The cardiac surgery program at Henry Ford Hospital has been awarded the prestigious “3 Star Rating” for coronary bypass by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for the time period ending June 2025. Nationally, only 10-15% of heart centers attain the STS three-star designation, which recognizes quality and clinical excellence. • In 2025, we developed six clinics exclusively dedicated to women’s cardiovascular health, more than any other health system in the country. This marks a large step towards equalizing cardiovascular care. Historically, only 20-25% of clinical trial participants have been women, with most female representation limited to women’s health studies. 5

Neurology & Neurosurgery • In December 2025, we began offering high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) treatment for patients with essential tremor and tremor-dominant Parkinson’s disease. We are the first and only provider in southeast Michigan offering this innovative therapy. • Our adoption of RapidAI, a platform that can accelerate stroke diagnosis and treatment, earned us a spotlight in the AMA news in August 2025. This is an augmented intelligence (AI) tool that analyzes CT scans for large vessel occlusion and instantly sends images and notifications to clinicians’ mobile devices. This technology allows our team to respond immediately and with the appropriate level of care.
Orthopedics • We have completed over 2,700 ROSA® robotic knee replacements, representing the highest volume in the country. • We are the Official Healthcare Provider of the Detroit Lions and the Official Team Physicians of the Detroit Pistons and Detroit Red Wings.
Otolaryngology • In July 2025, researchers from Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences were awarded a $3 million grant from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research to study new treatments for patients who have head and neck cancer caused by HPV. • Henry Ford Health is in the top 10th percentile for time of initiation of postoperative radiation therapy for head and neck cancer patients (< 6 weeks).
Urology • The urology team at Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital completed its first Aquablation® therapy procedure in 2026, expanding access to an innovative, minimally invasive treatment option to men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. This milestone makes West Bloomfield the first Henry Ford location – and one of only a few in Michigan – to offer Aquablation® therapy, reinforcing our commitment to delivering advanced technology and leading-edge care to the communities we serve.
Surgical Outcomes and Quality • In 2025, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) selected Henry Ford Hospital for Achieving Meritorious Outcomes for Surgical Patient Care. Hospital surgical outcomes were categorized in two ways – All Cases Meritorious and High-Risk Meritorious. Henry Ford Hospital was among only 39 hospitals recognized in both categories and was the only hospital in Michigan to make this prestigious list, which was selected as part of the ACS National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP).
