4 Checking coolant level

• Check the coolant level in the expansion tank. This has to be checked when the engine is cold.

The coolant level must be between the markings MIN and MAX.

Warning

Never open the cap of the expansion tank when the engine is at operating temperature. • Top up if necessary.

• Remove the cap from the expansion tank. The internal cooling system can be filled with a mixture of anti-freeze (40 %) and tap water (60 %) or with a special coolant. For specification, see page 111.

5 Topping up coolant

Caution

Never fill the cooling system with sea water or brackish water.
