PIPE SIZE LIMITATIONS

The limitations shown in table below are necessary to prevent overloading of the mast and mast support structures as well as the machine hydraulic system by long, heavy drill pipe.

CAUTION: Failure to comply with these limitations will result in overloading of the mast, mast support and hydraulic system - possibly causing serious machine damage and resulting in possible loss of control of the mast.

Before raising or lowering the mast, always determine the pipe diameter, wall thickness and length and compare the results against the table. If the pipe on the machine falls within the limitations set forth in the table, the mast may be raised or lowered following the procedures detailed in this manual. If the pipe on the machine falls outside of these limitations DO NOT RAISE OR LOWER THE MAST. Either remove the pipe from the machine or consult with the Bucyrus International, Inc. Service Department before raising or lowering the mast.

CAUTION: Always remove all drill pipe from the rotary drive unit and store it in the tool racks before lowering the mast. Always lower the rotary drive unit to its lowest position and rest it on the lower stops before raising or lowering the mast.
