Lift Chain
Lift chains are important components of the truck. The chain system on the mast is designed for efficient and reliable transmission of lifting force from the hydraulic cylinder to the forks. Safe, uninterrupted use of the truck depends on correct care and maintenance of the lift chain.
Lift Chain Adjustment
1.Loosen the locking nut on the chain anchor. See Figure7-98
2.Tighten the adjusting nut until the top surface of the fork is 2 inches (50 mm) from the floor at the heel of the fork.
3.Retighten the locking nut on the chain anchor.

Cold Storage ConditioningOptions
Cold Storage Conditioning
Raymond Walkie Straddle trucks supplied with a standard conditioning package are designed to operate in an environment where temperatures range from 32 to 110°F (0to43 °C) in a continuous duty cycle.
Trucks supplied with a cold storage conditioning package are designed to operate to the following temperatures:
•5°F (–15°C) in a continuous duty cycle (generally stored in freezers with short ambient temperature exposure)
•–20 (–29°C) for in and out operation (stored at ambient temperature with short trips in and out of the freezer condition)
NOTE: Trucks ordered as cold storage from the factory are shipped with cold storage hydraulic fluid; there is no need to replace the fluid when installing the truck.
When a truck is to be converted for use in a cold storage environment, change the fluid in the hy draulic reservoir referring to the recommendations on the Appendix.
See “Lubrication Equivalency Chart” on pageA-2 for recommended fluids in the hydraulic reservoir and the drive unit.
Cold Storage Hydraulic Fluid
When changing from any other type of cold storage hydraulic fluid to fluid P/N 1017238:
1.Drain the reservoir completely.
2.Fill the reservoir with fluid.
3.Install decal P/N 1074515 on the hydraulic unit.
Mixing with other ty pes of cold storage fluids can cause “gelling” of the fluid and lead to premature pump failure.
Travel Alarm
The travel alarm is mounted on the electrical panel to the right of the Main Power Contactor.

Flashing Light
The Flashing Light is mounted to the top of the mast.
