SUBJECT: New field repair kit (P/N 851-201-508)

DESCRIPTION: Field installation instructions (P/N 851-201-507) for the above model truck.

REMEDY: To enhance product performance and provide for Dealer requests, a field kit has been developed to provide a kit to allow the installation of a stiffener plate in the field in cases where a crack may, or has, developed due to use in a severe application.

PROCEDURES: As outlined in the installation instructions (P/N 851-201-507), which are included in the Service Kit.

PARTS AVAILABILITY: Parts are now available through the Parts Distribution Center.

PROCEDURES: Installation Instructions for kit (P/N 851-201-508)

Weld Preparation:

1. Grind all cracks to a v-notch a minimum of 1/8” deep.

2. Reposition forks to minimize crack gap and secure. Maintain the factory specification of 90° ± 2° from the face of the battery box to the fork surface.

3. Weld using GMAW ER70S or SMAW E7018 wire to repair the crack.

4. Install the stiffeners in the fork frame orie nt as shown in the weld print and secure.

5. Weld using GMAW ER70S or SMAW E7018

6. Test truck for proper operation before returning to service.
