MAINTENANCE

GENERAL NOTE

Always check oil level and drain or fill the various reservoirs with the machine on a level surface.

The intervals specified here refer to normal operating conditions. During the initial operating period (run-in) and particular operating conditions, service intervals may be shortened.

Drain the oil immediately after shutting down the engine, as the oil will still be hot and will drain more easily. This will also help eliminating any contamination in the oil.

After filling the system at the proper oil change intervals, check oil only after the engine has been idling for a few minutes. This practice will ensure that the various engine components, such as heat exchanger, filters, lines, etc., will be filled prior to checking oil level.

The amount of grease required by grease fittings is measured in shots. A shot is the equivalent of a grease gun squirt. Clean all gaskets, caps, pins, etc., prior to making repairs, to prevent ingress of dirt during servicing.

Never change the fuel timing and settings. Seals must be removed only by authorized personnel, otherwise the warranty given by NEW HOLLAND and CUMMINS will be voided.
