OPERA TION TIRE PRESSURE CONTROL SYSTEM (IF EQUIPPED)

The Dana® T ire Pressure Control System (TPCS) incredibly simple system operate. All commands adjust tire pressures are controlled the driver from easy - - use operator control panel located the overhead compartment above the driver . The driver simply selects the desired mode with the touch a button and the Dana TPCS does the rest, adjusting tire pressures match the road surface. Indicators the control panel tell the driver s happening.

A built - indicator warns the driver when traveling too fast for selected tire pressures, and the system logic automatically selects the appropriate pressure the speed not reduced. A warning icon also tells the driver check his tires the system senses conditions which may indicate tire damage. A pressure switch acts electronic brake priority switch prevent the Dana TPCS from using air until the brake system fully charged. Brakes always have priority .

With its two modes operation (Loaded/Unloaded) and three terrain you get six pressures from which fectively operate across a wide variety mode allows for high speed travel paved "Of f permits operation secondary and provides extremely low tire pressures help free a stuck take grades that previously were impossible negotiate without the Dana TPCS has various digital display codes that report when a problem and exactly what the problem you know just what correct the

The Dana TPCS requires a constant supply clean dry air . adequately sized and maintained air dryer critical for continued proper operation the T ire Pressure Control System. Even though the air dryer may working properly , moisture can accumulate the wet tank during normal operation due the increase air consumption. important drain the wet tank daily . Draining the wet tank completely (to 0 pressure) when the truck not use will help keep moisture under control.

Operating the Dana T ire Pressure Control System

The Operator Control Panel (OCP) the sole interface for display operator information and for key entry the system instructions. The following sections explain the purpose and operation all OCP features.

W Arning Icons

T warning icons report operating problems. Y must take immediate action either reduce vehicle speed check tire condition whenever these icons activate.

Reduce V ehicle Speed — This signal reports that the vehicle speed too fast for the pressure Y must either reduce speed select a higher pressure pressing the appropriate key Continued operation this mode will result the system automatically selecting a more appropriate pressure

C0029843

Check T ire Condition — This signal reports that one tire a significantly lower pressure than the others and could indicate that a tire not holding Stop the vehicle immediately and identify the extent tire The system may used - inflate the low tire damage determined minimal a minor puncture slow leak) selecting RUN FLA T not use the system inflate tires with substantial damage, such large cuts, chunk outs, structural defects.

Digit Displa Y

The display shows either tire pressure service codes for the channel indicated the illuminated inner tire rings (see Channel Indicators). When the system actively changing tire pressure, the indicator arrow above the target mode will flash.

Service Code Indicator The exclamation point indicates that the value shown the digital display not a pressure, but rather a service code. See Service Codes Section.

Metric/English Indicator — This unit measure indicator tells the tire pressure shown metric (bar) English (psi)

Mode Keys And Annuncia T Arrows

These keys select pressures appropriate for dif ferent surface and loading conditions. The annunciator arrow points the selected key and signals one two states:

• the arrow flashing , the system the process checking changing pressures.

• the arrow lighted steady , the selected pressure has been achieved and the system -

L/U Key (Loaded/Unloaded) This key selects pressures appropriate for either a loaded unloaded

HWY — For high speed travel paved surfaces.

OFF HWY For operation secondary roads.

EMER — For selection extremely low tire pressures help free a stuck

Caution

The EMER featur e for extr eme conditions only and should not used for normal

Loaded Indica T

The small arrow pointing the drive wheels indicates whether you have selected loaded unloaded pressures. Y must select loaded your vehicle carrying any load.

W Arning

Operating a loaded vehicle unloaded tir e essur may r esult tir e overheating and r educed tir e life blowout.

Configura Tion Indica T Ors

The tractor/trailer outline show(s) whether the vehicle configured with a two channel (tractor straight truck) three channel (tractor and trailer)

Run Fla T Indica T

This asterisk matches the symbol the RUN FLA T key and indicates that the Run Flat feature selected.

Run Fla T Key

This key allows the operator override the 1 1P! (tire leak imbalance) fault. This key also instructs the system check tire pressures more frequent intervals. The Run Flat feature will automatically - select after minutes.

Caution

essing the RUN FLA T key may override Low T e

Select Key

This key allows the operator continuously monitor one channel, scan all them. powerup, the Operator Control Panel will not display any pressures Mode"). Pressing the SELECT key once will cause the display scan the tire pressures (see Channel Indicators). Repeated pressure will lock the display each individual channel (so that any channel may monitored continuously) and then return the display condition. C0029848
